Procreate has added some cool new 3d features to their next release of Procreate. here we walk through those and some of the new tweaks you will see in the upcoming version.

I'm hoping posable 3d character models would be a feasible feature just like in clipstudio.
It really is a big feature I feel procreate is missing.
seems it can import common 3d formats, lets try it out with some assets from 3d libraries!

I sincerely hope Procreate doesn’t loose it’s focus, meaning 2D art and illustration. I really would like a way to easily create and add to a brushes favorite folder, and a way to differentiate layer and layer groups visually (with colours, for example…)
I don’t think they will, I think this is an awesome step in the right direction

I don’t want then to overwork their current app but I would love it if they made a new separate procreate app specifically for 3D modelling!!
You can already make your own brush folders and add to them pretty easily
Haha thanks for the shoutout. I have a video 3D Modeling a Halloween Mask on the iPad later this week. Ohhhh that Export MP4 option looks great for creating nice visuals of 3D files to post online

I have never tried 3D art, but I am a huge fan of Procreate and adore digital art, it's close to my heart. This update is a dream come true! Let's hope they release it soon, literally can't wait 🥳
Depends on what you think is cool and interesting. There's so much still missing from Procreate in the 2D department and this is what we get? Great video though....!
I hope they give us realistic water color simulation like how Adobe Fresco has.
That is the only thing I miss from my Adobe subscription.

Exactly. That is what they should be focusing on rather than 3d.
I wish they reworked their home screen with folders and stuff. Maybe add subfolders (subgroups). Mine feels full and messy.

I think that the new 3d art feature is cool, bu I would prefer to get more 2d art features for drawing
Did Apple open up the iPads RAM so that an app could use more than 5GB? 5 is probably enough for me anyway, at this stage I don’t think I’d do anything that used the whole 8GB, let alone 16GB if I had one of those.

3D features are so gimmicky, I don't know where Procreate is going with it. Might be cool for Instagram art.
If they open it up so you can add your own models, it would be really awesome for coloring & adding texture to a model

@@vagrantclown If you want to paint 3d models why not use a tool that was designed for it like Substance Painter or Mari? The 3d in Procreate will be a toy at best. I can't imagine loading one of my models with millions of polys.
Haven't the last couple updates been gimmicky. The silly filters and the face painting that I never saw a single person use. I just ended up going back to PC
looking foward to trying out the pages function! particular for storyboarding. really hope they keep steering towards that direction!

I feel there is so much more to be done with 2d and there are already enough extremely good 3D apps - why not concentrate on improving what they have started instead of diluting the app - it needs a huge overhaul on brush management and masking as well as non destructive editing. It would be great to have the ability access the pre made swatch panel inside the color wheel module instead bouncing back forth between the different modules. Fresco’s live brushes are a game changer and I would like to see Procreate keep up with the 2d competition.
What are those extremly good 3D apps on iOS? There are a couple of 3D sculpting apps and that's pretty much it. I like the fact that we now got something for 3D texture painting with Procreate, even if it's a bit rudimentary at the moment.

I actually dont get why they went to 3D..Yeah sure..probably cool, but for me I would rather wish they had focused more on vector options and for real put that in the app, not only be vector while changing a line, but be more like illustrator. That would been an awesome update.. the 3d stuff.. I dont really know what use it will have for me..its literally useless.

The recent tab under brushes is a live saver!
i doubt my base 7th gen will get the fancy 3d stuff but i'm just here getting excited over the recents tab for brushes cause i have a million of them and i can never find or remember the ones i previously used T.T also that pages assist looks very promising 👀
I am also curious about whether or not 7th gen ipads will be able to use the new 3d features
I believe the 7th gen will get the 3D features including the AR feature, though you can expect it to be hot garbage due to the lack of proper back cameras
This is exciting. My one major drawback with procreate has been the lack of stabilization. I just found out about this today so it's been fun playing around a little bit with it. This definitely makes procreate more enjoyable for me. Had no idea they added 3d too. I wonder how this could integrate with something like Blender? Thanks for sharing!

I’m sure you could import a mannequin if that’s what you mean. Although I don’t think you’ll be able to pose it in app

Hey Brad, love your videos and I'm a fiend for captions (helps me process audio better) and I noticed the only available captions are auto-generated Vietnamese - imagine my confusion 😅 I wondered why this might be?

This update is a total gimmick, like the previous face paint add-on.
Models need UV maps and low poly count.
3D to these developers is just a basic flattened cube and a cylinder….
As a 2D app, they should focus on 2D features (vectors, rulers, storyboards, etc.).
Maybe add 2D plane depth features alas Mental Canvas or Slide AR.
The UI is getting all over the place. Strongly considering other painting apps…
If they want to break in the 3D market, launch a different app specialized for that and have Procreate complement it.
I second this. I’d also like to see scales and other features that can be useful for architecture drawings.
I agree with UI. The lack of quick access buttons and over relying on gestures pushed me to learn Affinity Designer. Couldn't be happier after the change
When i first saw they added 3d texturing to procreate I was a bit confused, I mean its probably not gonna compete with substance painter or mari, but I guess it could be useful for quick mockups

Is Procreate becoming the Blender of the App Store!?! I know it’s not free but I’m just shocked that they are expending so much
No, Blender is a huge collection of tools for 3d modeling & animation. Procreate is now able to paint on 3d models that are created in other programs, like blender. But it definitely looks like more fun in Procreate. ✌️🍷🎩🎩🎩
@@johndeggendorf7826 Oh yeah I cant wait to try it out! i guess its closer to substance paint or just vertex paint as its not allowing for 3D asset creation but i'm just loving how versatile its becoming

@@Chris-Dodge in the EX version they have a Page Manager, you can set up a document with an specific number of pages, and you can keep adding them as you go if you need to. That way you can have all the pages of a single book within one file. I'm a comic book artist, and this feature is what sets CSP above everything for me, so seeing something similar in procreate is very exciting!

I am currently planning on getting an ipad air 4 or an ipad pro 2021 (11 inch) so I was wondering if this update will have massive change that is only available for the ipad pro that makes it worth paying the extra amount

I can't draw in the 3d object, instead of that, the camera moves, I'm starting to think that it's because I don't have the apple pencil :(
It is set up to move the object w your finger and draw w the pen but you can mess w the settings to let your finger draw. Def get the pencil as soon as you can though. Its half of the coolness of using procreate
Am I the only one who can’t 3d paint? Every time I go to do a brush stroke on one of the 3d objects the object moves and the paint stroke doesn’t show up. And yes I did select which section/layer I wanted to paint so idk what I’m doing wrong. I don’t have an Apple Pencil if that matters.
I just hoping they just focus on one particular artist. procreate feature should be around 2D artist… if they want to make for 3D.. just make another app…

I agree. This is a really bad idea from Procreate. They should have stayed focused on 2d and been the best at that. Procreate is heading the same way as Photoshop. Bloated poc
In procreate, I just found out that the brush/touch doesn’t work when you get a bit close to the top tool bar. Is this the same case for everyone?

I have tested a iPad and Procreate and loved them as much as my old Samsung Tab S3 and Painter, but I am still a bit worried to go over to IPad for many say I will be sucked into the Apple Ecosystem that will be an extra cost and then locked to Apples music stores and so on, but I see you jump between the systems, what is your take on emigrate to another system and how well do it work if you want to move one of your work to another system, like if you dray on IPad and then want to do some work on a PC with Krita?

Honestly, I don't understand who this update is for. If you're a 3D modeller you've already painting tools, and in most instances more sophisticated tools, available within your own software. Why would you want to render your 3D artwork and then drag it over to procreate? There's some pretty basic drawing tools that are still missing from Procreate, and yet they focus on something that seems to be for, well, who exactly?
Hi, I’m also using this version as given by procreate i was talking with them on twitter. I am deaf so i am using captions for your video but the captions are automated and many errors making it difficult to understand but I’m able to, obviously, see visually some things that you’re doing. Is there a way I can connect with you directly please?

I accidentally deleted the preloaded 3d soda can in procreate, do you know how can i download it back?
Only works with Bluetooth styluses so if you don’t have one be prepared to buy one, this made me pretty angry as the stylus I have now works fine. But procreate thinks it’s a finger

What's the difference between page assist and animation assist ?
In true 3d fashion "Base" is the color map, "Roughness" would be the bump or normals map, and "Metallic" would be... the specularity map? Even if you work in 3d models and rendering one thing I always struggled with was proper UV mapping. This is so cool! I can't wait for this because before Procreate I would render 3d scenes of objects, lights and base textures with ambient occlusion, then pull it all into Photoshop and do my painting and touch ups there. Should be interesting to do all my rendering and painting all in one app on my iPad, with the Apple Pencil no less! So many cool options and features being added, I can't wait for it to drop!!!
I would rather have Zbrush, Mudbox or Mari on the iPad Pro. I think adding 3d painting to an amazing 2d painting application is a mistake. It adds added complexity to the UI for every user. It is similar to what has happened to Photoshop. Feature creep and loss of focus.
