  • 75 Hours on the Liftoff FPV Simulator should help a beginner like me to flying the DJI Avata Cinewhoop FPV drone. The first flight in Manual Mode with the FPV controller ended up with only one crash. You can check out my First Flight EVER in Manual Mode HERE 🔥 • DJI Avata: From Simula... . The Avata also has many safety features for newbies to help prevent a crashes. We will review and test out other flying modes as well as take a look at the 4k footage.

    You should not be interested in changing rates until you are familiar with how the bird flies. Just food for information once you start messing with rates you can actually burn out Motors and or flight controllers

    Nice Flying Chad! Just know that once you start it doesn’t end with the Avata. You’ll eventually out grow the Avata and will want an FPV drone that’s more durable and has better flight characteristics like a 5” freestyle quad. Then you will learn how to build one from scratch, make repairs yourself, and program it aswell. Glad to see another fine person added to this great hobby! Happy flying!👍

      Thanks Matthew. Whenever DJI makes their air units compatible with these goggles, I may look into getting a traditional FPV.

    Rewriting my comment so you and JC understand! 🙄
    You are a good pilot that could have learned to fly this quad without a sim. Flips and rolls? No
    Just flying in manual straight out of the gate? Yes absolutely!
    I haven’t flown other cinewhoops but comparing it to the two fpv quads I have flown find it totally feels somewhat assisted in manual mode.
    I also find it’s totally flyable right out of the box and wouldn’t rush to adjust things so that way you understand the difference once getting use to it, get use to it and then adjust it. Newbies are way too quick to start tweaking things and then don’t understand the differences from what was to what is.

    Morning Chad. I'm sitting here pulling my hair out. I've been practicing with my DJI controller 2 on the ORQA simulator for about a month now. I can fly around up in the air ok but I'm having one heck of a time flying low and slow in manual mode. I'm not sure if its me or ORQA? I just keep plowing dirt if I get within 10 feet of the ground. Any tricks?

    • @ChadB
      @ChadB  Год назад

      Hey Mike... I would start out at a slow rate of speed. Maybe a 5-degree gimble pitch. Then, start at around 5 feet off the ground. It's all about throttle management. It's a balancing act between the throttle and pitch. You have to be able to finesse sticks which just come with practice. When you find yourself getting too low, just ease the throttle up a little and ease the pitch forward a little to stay level. Do the opposite if you are getting too high.
      If you're not doing so already, try using the pitch method. It gives you the ability to do those fine movements. Works wonders...
      That's the best way I can explain it from my limited experience.

      @@ChadB I found out last night that my controller wasnt configured right, that fixed a lot of the problem, if i tried to lift off into a hover the drone would drift right. I really want to learn this but it aint easy. flying with the motion controller kind of gives you the feeling of fpv...kinda...lol thanks Chad for getting back to me! gasquetmike!

    Looking better! Two questions (1) can you model the Avata in Liftoff somehow? I only see the DJI FPV drone. (2) Does Liftoff allow gimbal angle adjustment for the FPV? I just found the DLC and don't know it that well yet. Been using other similar freestyle models until today. Getting better managing drift. Thanks! Hey got any Dives coming for us?! I know you did them in the Sim you wild pilot :)

    Hi Chad. April 23rd. Watched all your Avata videos again. Well I finally went out and bought the dji controller 2 and downloaded orqa skydive and have been practicing all week. Its not easy. I go to bed every night leaning to one side...lol.. just wondering how its going with your FPV learning? Are you enjoying it? To be honest I'm not sure if I will or not. I'm used to flying around slow and low with the drone mask and my Evo1 but this FPV stuff is a whole different beast.

      Hey, Mike... Glad to hear you finally got the remote controller and are taking the steps to learn flying Acro. Learning for me is going well. I haven't had the chance to fly the Avata much, but I always have the simulator. Learning takes persistence, and then all of a sudden, it will click.

    You are getting smooth with it. Also, changing rates will NOT burn anything in your drone. Read a comment on here which stated it would. Tweaking PIDs could burn a motor or ESC, but not rates. I strongly encourage you to tweak rates to your liking. The Avata out the box has terrible rates.

    • @QCGUY
      @QCGUY 2 года назад

      I think the person meant PID’s. Many often say rate’s when that’s what they meant. I catch myself doing that often.
      I found the DJI rates totally flyable personally and agree adjusting them is something needed but I also agree on waiting a bit as a first timer to understand the differences once getting used to how it is out of the box.

    • @ChadB
      @ChadB  2 года назад

      Thanks Eddie...yeah that didn't sound right to me. Should have questioned that. I didn't like the DJI Avata rates from the start. After the first few flights I changed the rates to something I was much more comfortable with based on what I flew the sim. I've flown a lot since and haven't changed them. But I know I will eventually tweak them more.

    Nice! I’m about 5 or 6 hours into the liftoff sim and currently working on hovering. I’ve only flown the avata in normal and sport mode. I’ll be flying at that same park once I feel that my skill set is good enough for the real world lol

    • @ChadB
      @ChadB  Год назад +1

      Thanks...I use the Vortex Pro 275. I don't think any of the quads in the SIM would have the same flight characteristics as the Avata. But the point is you'll learn how to fly Acro. Also you can change the rates to match the rates you fly on the Avata

    Hi, excellent, we don't speak English that's why we're writing to you, is Avata compatible with liftoff and can you practice in normal and sport mode in that simulator?
    And it can be done on a Mac m1 computer with the glasses and the motion controller? It would be excellent if you made a video of how to do it with the simulator,,, Good video, thanks! 👍

      You cam use the fpv controller on Liftoff, but not the goggles or motion controller. Is have the DJI FPV as an option to fly, but you can not use the buttons on the remote to switch modes. It works on M1 Mac
