Trash or not, I really like this game. Since childhood I play this shit. Rastan Saga II has its graphical lags and also is not a masterpiece of gameplay, but it's fun, in my opinion.
5:18 This text should have been a meme. It should be right up there with "All your base are belong to us," "All toasters toast toast," and "WHAT IS A MAN? A miserable little pile of secrets!"
Rastan Saga II for the Mega Drive and PC Engine are actually better than the arcade original, in my opinion. The screen scrolls with the character all the time, some of the stages have slight changes that make the game less cheap when it comes to deaths. And you can keep your weapon after the stage ends. Kind of sucks that Taito didn't put any effort to the Mega Drive version when it comes to the graphics and sound.
I remember when my folks bought this for me for $50 from the local Babbages. I remember thinking the same thing "What is this shit?" Its like the graphics are well drawn, yet animated as clunkily as possible. None of the movements are as fluid as the original. I'm not sure that's cause of the limitations of the Genesis either.
The Mega Drive is capable of much better, they could have made a near arcade perfect port if they wanted. This one is also easier than the arcade version, if you want challenge, then play the game with a Master System controller.
This game was the HUGEST disappointment of my genesis childhood. As a kid, I had one game to buy for Christmas, and the box art faked me real good. I realised my mistake the moment the game began, with the horrible music loudly played on top of the bright and colorful world. What am I playing, Adventure Island? Then when the character started to walk, I almost laughed. His cross leg walking style was pathetic, but even more pathetic was his walking speed.. and that single artwork for jump is ridiculously lazy. The only good thing about this game was the claws weapon, but only when he 'scratches' upwards, cuz other than that, it looks dumb af to say the least. Stay away from this game at all cost.
@Baby Kakes Correct. The Mega Drive version says "Taito Corporation 1990". This is the Genesis version, not the MD version, as shown in the title/description.
I rented this once in 1992 and that was it. I forgot about it until I saw this video by chance. Ugh, Legendary Axe 1 and 2 were far better similar games.
@cubex55 well... is it possible to play the game with a pc-recording program like camtasia or something ? =/ i think few videos was recorded on camtasia and it looks okay and without problems.
A faithful port of the arcade game. Isn't that a good thing? In this case... NO. The arcade version isn't exactly wonderful to begin with, especially thanks to bad control. BGM is nice but that's all. I'm glad this was NOT one of the Taito games that Ving ported to the Saturn.
@@Bloodreign1 Yes. Anything for a port of Warrior Blade Rastan Saga III. Taito could've made a Mega Drive port of RS3 on par with Golden Axe, very easily.
I played this in the arcade. It sure is an awful game. The arcade and Megadrive soundtracks are pretty good (especially the arcade), the PC Engine soundtrack is HORRIBLE.
Never saw this till today. Looks awful vs the original. Doesn't even seem like something made in Japan. Strikes me as more of a Amiga game made by some 80's d-list studio in England or Europe.
I remember discovering this one on Sega Genesis. Like "Altered Beast," it disappointed me by having only five levels. Maybe that shows how spoiled I got after "Lost Vikings"

At least it's better than Sword of Sodan.
I agree with lot of others, this is a big disappointment after Rastan, BUT this theme music is the shit + some awesome looking creepy characters

Wow that music brought me straight back to the early 90s
Schilauchi is a true hero for playing this shit
This was such a huge downgrade to part 1. The only good things in it is the music and the enemy designs.
The ending music with banni wasterlands from pac man world 3 combine perfectly
This looks so much better than PCE version, BUT the Rastan's speed to walk really sucks here. The blast procezzzzz... didn't work this time.

The Arcade version (Nastar Warrior) plays even worse than the Genesis /PC Engine version

They should ported the first Rastan game for the Mega Drive instead of this kusoge.

This is actually the Genesis version. The Mega Drive has a copyright date of 1990.

With a leopard's head on the protagonist, the game could be re distributed as Guin Saga
the third rastan game is one of the best rastan games ever . =) please ScHlAuChI , make a longplay of the awesome Rastan saga 3 for the arcades!!. =D
Oh wow, i was only one level away from beating the game back when i was 7yrs old 😅
The control is bad yes. I played it as a child. However, don't forget it has a good music :P
Tonight you're on the loose... after playing this game.
Couldn’t hold a candle to the original Rastan in the arcades
i like how this game makes part one even a better game it enhanced it!
i had the box and booklet for this game. played it a lot.
I rented this once in 1992 and that was it. I forgot about it until I saw this video by chance. Ugh, Legendary Axe 1 and 2 were far better similar games.
what does level on the lower right of the HUD supposed to mean? (When you begin the game, it says level 0 on the lower right of the screen.)
Rastan looked thicc in this.
@cubex55 well... is it possible to play the game with a pc-recording program like camtasia or something ? =/ i think few videos was recorded on camtasia and it looks okay and without problems.
I just want to know why they don't ever include Rastan saga 1 or 2 when they do those sega and game packs for ps4 or Xbox?
basket cas3 Because those collections are comprised of Sega’s own games. Taito (now Square Enix) owns the Rastan series.
@@Danthrax40 Taito still exists. Square Enix didn't closed the company yet.
As of today Rastan I and II are available on PS4 and Switch
Never knew Genesis had a Port of this. Is there a Port of the first and second Game on it as well?
The first Rastan was ported to the Master System, if that counts.
@@DarthEquus yeah I heard of it but why didn't the NES get a port, let alone the SNES?
The arcade version has better music quality though

They could've ported the third game, which is amazing and kicks ass.
@@Bloodreign1 Yes. Anything for a port of Warrior Blade Rastan Saga III. Taito could've made a Mega Drive port of RS3 on par with Golden Axe, very easily.
Conquer does not timidness!
...Wait.
Rastan on master system is way better. The developer put zero effort into making this.

This is like actraiser but on serious budge limitation.
Doesn't look too bad. Just mindnumbingly dull.
Even the arcade original was bad
A not very good game but at least there is coop so you can suffer with a friend.... oh wait the Megadrive release is 1 player only....
narative order??
2,3,1 ??
