  • Progress.
Hauled the Cab for the 62 C10 over to the big shop on my homemade fixture. Lifted it with the two post and moved the fixture over to the other lift .
Drop the chassis onto the fixture to move it under the cab, to test fit it for engine transmission, location.

Great to know they're keeping the truck in the family by doing some modernizing. What a heritage. Nice work Lucky. ✌

If I had enough money to never have to work, I would volunteer to help Lucky work everyday he'd let me! I would enjoy every minute of it & would soak up all the knowledge he'd share. I've been a machinist, then went into HVAC for the last 27yrs. I've been around some really sharp guys in both trades & just watching Lucky I can tell he ain't just a pretty face! 😂 It's cool seeing that year of C10, I bought a 64 long bed with straight 6 that was super straight, interior looked brand new & paid 200$ in 92. Nobody wanted long beds & I sold it for 500 a couple months later. I wish I had a time machine!

When I moved mine back I had to notch firewall for coil pack clearance. Also once I got the driveline angle correct I had to use the high hump. Really enjoying this build. Thanks for the content.

Cool NEW chassis with the drivetrain with the classic truck body. Looking forward somewhere you mess with a new Mercury Chevrolet engine I read they put out a lot of power

That's the original frame for a 62, has a torsion bar front suspension. Of course newer (LS came out in 97 in the Corvette so it isn't that new lol )
      engine and transmission.

On the low hump floor 60-66 trucks, you can fit an LS and 4l60e without many problems. The pinch welds on the floor pan is usually what gets in the way and hits the trans. If you don't care about them that much, you can bend them flat for more clearance. You can also move the engine stands forward a bolt hole and drill a new bolt hole to move the engine forwards. Yes, a lot of people want to move the engine further back to improve the weight balance, but in a truck it really doesn't matter unless you will be whipping it around a racetrack. It won't hurt the handling to have the engine forward a bit. It also isn't worth putting a high hump trans cover to move the engine back - it just takes up lots of floor room in something that appears to be a boulevard cruiser.

Had mine since '87. 327 with muncie 4 speed. Weight distribution is as follows: all the weight in the front, no weight in the rear. Have fun driving in the rain. Keep your foot out of it if you're packing alot of horsies in the rain, you can lose her in a hurry.

The Kevin Hart show. The best person on that show was you and also was the main reason I watched it. A couple of things I remember......The big guy with the 65 Mustang broke down on the highway. He called you to stop what you were doing and promised you 2 hundred bucks to come help him. He actually fussed at you for not getting there fast enough and then he screwed you out of the two hundred bucks. And the funny part was Kevin getting played into spending 780,000 on a Corvette at auction that was only worth 400,000. Again, that was his buddies egging him on. As upset as I was at the cancelation of DED, Kevin's show should never have been on it.

Lucky mentions the dude helping him out was also on the Kevin Hart show. I agree that show was hard to watch. After sitting painfully through the first couple episodes, I just fast forwarded to the Lucky scenes. Seeing DED go was very sad news. I’m not an off-road guy but I liked the show. I really like what Fred is doing on his YT channel lately.

It seemed scripted. Like a sitcom/show. Definitely wasn’t “real” feeling like other car shows. They were definitely acting and not “car show” acting.

One of the interesting things about this model is the torsion bar front suspension. My dad bought a 1962 like this one around 1964. I drove it for a couple of years. I repainted it around 1969. I thought I have seen some 62s that had coil springs on the front. Anyone know what period the torsion bar front suspension was in play?
