    This works, but only for rigs with an already-applied armature. So if you have posed a character and you want to add clothing to it, you'll have to apply the armature modifier before adding the clothing.

    now does this follow the rig since its separated from the mesh or is that its own thing? Awesome regardless!

      It depends on if the body was already patented to the rig, if so then yes the clothing will retain the rig weights when taken from the body 😁

    do you have a video, how to properly model a character? i know you use mirror modifier at some points, which also makes the clothing part easier but i always seem to mess this up

    And now you have extra layer inside solidified mesh

      Sometimes you may want that, but you can always enable 'only rim' on the solidify modifier if you'd rather avoid the internal geometry 😁

      Parent with automatic weights, but if you parented the legs before hand, it should already have the weights from the legs :)

    How can I do this if the clothing mesh that I want to create will not follow the lines and squares of the body?

    Why’s it necessary to separate?
    Because blender is tricky I only like to remember what’s important. Is it just that separation moves it over from the model, automatically??

      That way it is its own object . If you didnt seperate, adding any modifier woul apply to the entire model.

    Should I delete the base mesh after creating the outfit? (for optimization purposes?)

      Good question, yes I tend to do so for better optimization 😁 Just make sure you have a back up of the whole base mesh should you need it.
