I love all three of those games. AC2 and Brotherhood got me intersted in the Renaissance, and just like Black Flag, which captures the pirate life better than any video game I've played, the entire atmosphere of the Ezio games does really feel like a renaissance.
Agreed. I would say they are the games in the series that are universally praised by the fans. My main issues with them would be the long Bonfire of the Vanities DLC and the side content just being alright aside from the tombs and glyphs (AC 2), the optional objectives with not checkpoints and the tailing missions (AC Brotherhood), and the first person modern day with the frequent tailing missions and easy combat (AC Black Flag). Other than those issues they have great open worlds, great casts of characters, fun game mechanics like the brotherhood system and naval combat, and great soundtracks.
Respectfully I disagree about brotherhood, I’m trying to get 100% sync but I don’t like having to restart entire missions when I fail the mission objective it always happens to the ones people complain about

Until I played Red Dead 2, Edward had my favorite character arc in gaming. Black Flag also does such a great job of fleshing out the philosophy of the Assassins, it’s not about being able to do whatever you want but being personally responsible for your own actions rather than just having other people tell you how to behave.

Assasin's Creed 4 Black Flag is definitely one of the best AC games, a great story, a great character, phenomenal gameplay, and also the feeling of adventure. I can just sail from point A to point B, but when i reach the point B i felt like it was an adventure, getting in the middle of naval battles... facing storms, waves... Truly a phenomenal game. In my opinion it's the best AC game. It has just something special in it, great balance of an pirate-assasin game, and the feeling of adventure.
I love that these old AC titles are so replayable, not too long and rich in story and character. No part of my soul wants to replay Odyssey or Valhalla, Origins is kinda ok to replay.
I actually do think about the comparisons between AC2 and Black Flag sometimes, they're both games about a man's path to becoming an Assassin in the final act. But while Ezio accepted guidance and grew gradually as a person, Ezio shunned advice and made every wrong turn until he hit rock bottom and realized how much he lost. I do like that AC3 and 4 (Black Flag) lean more heavily towards criticizing the over-glorification of "freedom", something AC1 did occasionally provoke but the Ezio trilogy rarely did because most of Ezio's enemies were such cartoonishly horrible and selfish tyrants. Connor lost a lot by trusting other people's goodness perhaps somewhat too much. Edward lost a lot from reckless self-destruction while mistaking what he truly wanted. Both had every reason to give up and grow disillusioned in freedom and humanity the way Achilles did, or even the way Haytham did. But they maintained their faith to the end regardless, which IMO makes the message stronger than a straightforward triumph over the enemy would've. Then you've got Shay's story in Rogue, which had black and white morality as bad as AC2 and Brotherhood did, just with factions flipped. Guess we weren't allowed the narrative quality hat trick this time.
Yes ...the tailing missions were exceptional...so was running through a city, chasing someone and climbing up everything you don't wanna climb...and the excellent stealth....and the enemy A.I was super smart.... definitely a masterpiece....let me find this hidden treasure clearly marked on my map.... masterpiece lol...it's a mediocre game with a beautiful open world and lots of jank. Unfortunately Ubisoft can make beautiful worlds, but have yet to make a complete package....Witcher 3 is a masterpiece. Because everything in the open world fits. Ubisoft makes collect a thons...I mean they make pretty decent games....but this whole " lets put markers all over the map and hold your hand" gameplay design is extremely outdated. And insulting. I'm insulted as a gamer that they think I'm that stupid. People are quick to label everything 10/10 and a masterpiece....black flag is a 7/10 at the very most. I think people are in love with the idea of the game, more than the game Itself. And that blinds them to all the massive immersion killing flaws
for me, this was the BEST AC agame ever to be made, the sea adventures, sinking colonial behmoth ships in sea battles, watching the whales flip in high seas, those sea shanties, that was just amazingg !!!! and i have been playing AC games since ac 1, but this was probably the game i enjoyed most, went back many a times after completing main story, the only other game after this that pleased me have to origins and the spinoff one AC rouge.. man that game was good, showing the templar side in AC universe. it was goood.
Revelations was a game that left a hole in me. I loved The ending where Ezio speaks to Desmond and finds Altair but when it ended i wanted it to continue
When I 100% Odissey, after more than 120h, i felt empty and nostalgic. The amount of stories and places that you encounter it’s insane, and, even if it’s the most hated in the series, it’s the one I feel more attached to.
I remember when I finished RDR2 and rode to New Austin as John, there was this sense of emptiness, not only from finishing the game but also the feeling of 'The West is dying'. I just finished playing Far Cry 4 yesterday and I think that game makes a strong case as well, most importantly the settings in the Himalayas, a perfect spot for an adventure, and the journey of uncovering the backstories, if Ajay had more character arc it would have been better

Black Flag is without a doubt the best "adventure" from the AC franchise. Love the theme of this video, in fact, I'm very happy you picked ACBF as the main subject. I got my PS3 around 2013-ish and it came with this game (my introduction to AC). I remember pausing the game upon first reaching Havana (yeah, very early in the game) but when I realized that BF had a whole story happen before it - AC, Ezio's trilogy and AC3 - I went and bought ALL 5 GAMES. I played them in their release order and by the time I got back to BF I was hooked to the AC series. But let me tell you, as much as I love Ezio's trilogy (Ezio and Edward are my favorites protags in the whole series), I think Black Flag is the one AC game I played the most! And every time it's a grand experience. Few games have left me with the sense of adventure and emptiness-once-it's-over like you mention, and Black Flag was the very first. I'd put Sonic Unleashed second and the first 3 Uncharted games in third (haven't played U4 because I don't own a PS4) - coincidentally, the first two games I mentioned have my favorite game soundtracks of all time, followed by AC2.
Many years ago I had gone to a nearby store to buy Assassin's Creed 3 after watching its walkthrough on RUclips. I didn't even know that Black Flag had already hit the market. When I looked around the store, I was surprised to see Black Flag in the shelf right next to AC 3. So I decided to buy Black Flag instead, as I had already experienced AC 3 through walkthroughs. Best gaming decision I accidentally made... Ever...

One of the main reasons I love the assassins creed series is the open worlds. Say what you will about Ubisoft but when it comes to open worlds they put a lot of detail into them. AC 2's open world of the Italian Renaissance is so mesmerizing.
I wish we could've gotten a haytham dlc with more with and an adward Kenway dlc before he died. I wish flack flag had odyssy's graphics,lighting,and massive open world,it'll be perfect

Odyssey actually captures the feeling of adventure pretty well. Even more than AC 2 to me. It’s open world contributes to this the most. But it also gives that sense of sailing (while not like black flag) and discovering new island/places. Each region is different and has its own culture and feel. People hate on odyssey a lot but I actually enjoyed it, the Ancient Greece setting alone is one thing that surprisingly hooked me when I played.
Odyssey is too long and repetitive. Story not nearly as good as Black Flag. The sailing was probably some of the most fun parts of it but don't really like the rest. I like Ancient Greece as a setting but I don't feel they did a good job with it.

This game is the best Assassins Creed imo I would've said 3 but this topped it for me. I had every armour save one I think, a fully elite ship, and one of my only gripes with the game is that you couldn't replay legendary ships once you fully elite your ram, your heavy shot, your mortar and everything else those ships were still a little challenging but ultimately they was much easier for me defeat once ide upgraded fully.
I know this video is about AC but I wish I could replay Red Dead Redemption 2 all over again for the first time, the first time I played it I was blown away but anyways I digress

The funny thing is, there was a real pirate who had a wife and went to the Caribbean to earn money for his wife. He as well found out that he had a child and his wife was dead. Edward kenway is probably inspired by this man.

I'm really hoping we get a remaster like AC Rogue got, 4K resolution and 60 FPS on console, Rogue runs fantastic on the Series X. AC black flag unfortunately is still 900p 30fps. best way to play it is on PC if you have one. if you dont have a PC then the PS4 version would most likely be the best option for console due to the resolution being 1080p

I really like Black Flag and I agree with you, but I couldn't enjoy the game as much as you did since I'm not the best at naval combat. Also, when you'll play the Ezio trilogy for "when I die the video ends" and "when I get detected the video ends", could you play them on the Ezio collection? In your video "should you buy the Ezio collection on switch", I thought I heard you mention you had it on PC (and I know youtubers generally record games on pc for graphics and framerate), and the games remastered look gorgeous and so much more colorful. Black Flag was probably the peak of Assassin Creed. Before that game each entry tried to be better than the preceding one. (Although I think AC3 was worse than Revelations and Ezio Trilogy, it was still good). And after that it has mostly gone downhill. Unity was okay, but after that the spirit has been lost and you can see it.
Blackflag is good but rogue is like blackflag with improvements. Seriously underrated game. Probably because there was no use to playing it when unity came out the same day. Give it a go if you want more blackflag but if you already 100% blackflag.

Odyssey is too long and repetitive. Story not nearly as good as Black Flag. The sailing was probably some of the most fun parts of it but don't really like the rest. I like Ancient Greece as a setting but I don't feel they did a good job with it.
Definitely one of my favorite games. If they ever decide to make a movie adaptation, Charlie Hunnam should play Edward.

This game is the best Assassins Creed imo I would've said 3 but this topped it for me. I had every armour save one I think, a fully elite ship, and one of my only gripes with the game is that you couldn't replay legendary ships once you fully elite your ram, your heavy shot, your mortar and everything else those ships were still a little challenging but ultimately they was much easier for me defeat once ide upgraded fully.
Black flag along with Origins are my favorites out of the series.

I am watching a Netflix documentary about pirates right now. The funny thing is, there was a real pirate who had a wife and went to the Caribbean to earn money for his wife. He as well found out that he had a child and his wife was dead. Edward kenway is probably inspired by this man.

I'm really hoping we get a remaster like AC Rogue got, 4K resolution and 60 FPS on console, Rogue runs fantastic on the Series X. AC black flag unfortunately is still 900p 30fps. best way to play it is on PC if you have one. if you dont have a PC then the PS4 version would most likely be the best option for console due to the resolution being 1080p

I really like Black Flag and I agree with you, but I couldn't enjoy the game as much as you did since I'm not the best at naval combat. Also, when you'll play the Ezio trilogy for "when I die the video ends" and "when I get detected the video ends", could you play them on the Ezio collection? In your video "should you buy the Ezio collection on switch", I thought I heard you mention you had it on PC (and I know youtubers generally record games on pc for graphics and framerate), and the games remastered look gorgeous and so much more colorful. Black Flag was probably the peak of Assassin Creed. Before that game each entry tried to be better than the preceding one. (Although I think AC3 was worse than Revelations and Ezio Trilogy, it was still good). And after that it has mostly gone downhill. Unity was okay, but after that the spirit has been lost and you can see it.
Blackflag is good but rogue is like blackflag with improvements. Seriously underrated game. Probably because there was no use to playing it when unity came out the same day. Give it a go if you want more blackflag but if you already 100% blackflag.
