Yesterday I swore I saw you reaching for my hand… Then you begged me “Please forget me!” but how could you understand? that letting go’s the last thing I could do… So I won’t light a candle yet for you.
I won't light a candle I won't light a candle Sometimes when I close my eyes, I hear you call my name Even though I watched you go, I know I'll see you once again The day will come when all my prayers come true So I won't light a candle yet for you No, I won't light a candle yet for you In my heart I still believe I'll kiss your face once more Since the day you went away, I've kept your memory by my door Knowing that you'll soon come walking through So I won't light a candle yet for you No, I won't light a candle yet for you Every tear I will not cry I would save till I need you Every hope that will not die Keep me strong till I see you Yesterday I swore I saw you reaching for my hand Then you begged me 'please, forget me' But how could you understand That letting go is the last thing I could do? So I won't light a candle yet for you No, I won't light a candle yet for you I won't light a candle yet for you
This truly makes me cry, especially when I think of Anne Frank. I just finished reading "The Hidden Life of Otto Frank" by Carol Ann Lee. At the end, Otto Frank meets with one of Anne's friends, who was in Bergen Belsen with Anne and her sister Margot. This woman was the last person to see Anne alive. Anne and Margot were both dying of typhus fever, which was carried by the lice in the camp. The women had no barracks; they put them in tents, which collapsed in the high winds and rain. The guards shut off the water supply. Anne's friend said that Anne was delirious from typhus and that she had thrown away all her clothes because of the lice, and was wrapped in a blanket. She died shortly thereafter and her body, and that of her sister, were thrown into a mass grave. Such an incredible light, gone too soon. May it never happen again and may we never forget.
No offense or disrespect intended, as I definitely find this beautiful and sad, but the music and video gives me vibes of Schindler’s List colliding with the opening title sequence of a James Bond movie. Basically I see this video as if Schindler’s List was translated into a James Bond opening credits scene. Except it’s purposely made to be 100% melancholy
It’s all good, and it does kind of sound like opening to an older Bond film. She even has kind of a Sheena Easton like voice. We each take from music what we need from it. No disrespect to the millions of victims but I used this song to help me grieve my deceased daughter. Not it’s intention but gave me hope nonetheless. God bless

that letting go’s the last thing I could do…
So I won’t light a candle yet for you.
Show this to John Williams and Steven Spielberg.
