    some animals can breed easily and anywhere, like mice and bunnies. Pandas seem to choose the hardest conditions to breed. it is as if evolution pranks them into this

    • @Claudia-bo5vf
      @Claudia-bo5vf 3 года назад +14

      Wild pandas mate easily and they get a chance to pick up a mate. But for captivity pandas, they don’t have role models to learn about mating and more important they don’t have a chance to pick up their mates based on their chemistry. On the other hand, big sized animals produce less frequently and few liters each breeding season than lower end animals with smaller size.

    18 months to 2 years still does not feel like sufficient time. After being forced to conceive and to deliver, through artificial insemination while being rendered unconcious, I would have thought that Jia Jia would at least be able to live with her baby panda, after all the physical suffering she had endured. However, she has in future to suffer separation from her own offspring when he leaves Singapore, with not even ocassional visitation rights, from afar, granted to her.

    • @ruthlim1285
      @ruthlim1285 3 года назад +33

      Pandas are solidarity in wild and nature and even those in China panda hubs will naturally separate at 18-24 months. Humans are social animals but many animals are not we cannot assume our concept of family to them. Which is the reason Jiajia and Kaikai are separated and do not meet until mating season. Solidarity animals may fight or even kill each other because they can get territorial. Even if they are family. Same like hamsters, leopards.
      So that time is actually sufficient and quite the age range before they will separate naturally. Mum will move on to next mating season and leave the cub in wild to survive on its own.
