Autel Lite+ vs Autel Nano+ 🔸 Amazing low-light camera drones but which one is the best?

- I am really curious to know if the Autel Lite+ drone has a better low light camera than the Autel Nano+ drone. You would think so as it costs twice as much plus it has a bigger sensor. I know size matters, but I also know that Nano+ has an amazing camera. So in this video I will compare the video footage from both of these drones as it gets darker. I am hoping it will help determine which has the better camera, particularly in low light.
As background I've had the Autel Nano+ since January this year and I got the Autel Lite a few months ago however I had to return it due to an issue I found with it. Autel didn't have another one, so they sent me the Autel Lite+ instead. Although I wanted the Lite version, I thought I might as well compare the Lite+ version with the Nano+ to help me decide if the Lite+ is worth keeping since I already have an Autel Evo 2 Pro which has a similar 6K 1" camera.
I normally use 30fps but in this video I used 25fps and manual settings of 1/50 shutter speed and 1/25 shutter speed when it was dark. I used ND filters on both drones to keep the right exposure. I didn't go higher than IS800 and I didn't use any de-noising when editing this video.
As a comment I find the Autel Nano+ has an outstanding low light camera and a reliable flyer. The Autel Lite+ is also joy to fly and it's camera seems very capable. So far, I have noticed that the horizon of the Lite+ occasionally moves very slightly when flying. I am not sure if the gimbal needs calibration or if it is a quirk of this drone. I will do further tests.
However, this video is more about image quality, particularly in low light. Both drones performed really well in low light. The Autel Lite+ also has a night mode but I am not sure if I would use it since it digitally zooms in which seems to reduce the quality. I think I would use normal mode as it seems just as good in low light.
I will study this video to compare the two, but I think you need a 4K monitor to really see the differences. Unfortunately, I only have a 2.7K monitor which makes it hard to compare.

Editing: Very slight editing, I fixed the perspective to help straighten the buildings. I didn't use de-noise at all.

I would have said the Lite initially but as it got a little darker the difference between them lessened. The shot at 1:49 seems to not been to the Nano's liking as the colour went a bit off. So hard to pick between the 2 drones. I think I'd go the Lite for having adjustable aperture, 1 inch sensor, extended flight time & no doubt better performance in the wind. While the size of the Nano is good & I like the smaller package, technically I think the Lite is a better drone. Great comparison Brett, thanks for sharing mate. 🦘😎👍

Thanks so much. I also struggled to compare the two I think the Nano+ is a bit clearer but I don't have a sharp enough monitor to be 100% sure. One thing for sure, they both did a good job as I didn't use any noise reduction. Cheers

I can see a HUGE difference watching in a 4k television. The Nano+ is on another level. Better in everything! The video looks like more real life and you can see that the words on the buildings more clear. Look at the shadows and shades, it look like the Nano+ has one more stop of light. GREAT TEST!

I´ve also no 4K-Monitor, but I feel the Nano+ has a bit more Dynamic-range at night. But I fear the YT-compression will also damage the quality of both a little. Great comparison and both are really on a very high level !!

Lite+ but only just but when you look at it, balancing out the cost vs features the Nano+ equally stacks up

I would say that the lite has better dynamic range. And, also the lite takes better photos as well.
@3:12 Autel Lite plus is the winner . From a portability POV , its nano. But what's your need ? that dictates . will get both at a good price. now both are priced even ..

Apparently, the Lite Plus is supposed to be better with larger sensor, etc! The Nano Plus is impressive with its much smaller and lighter size!! Would use the Lite Plus in heavier weather for stability.
Yes I think you are the right. The Lite+ is better in any weather, flies for a longer time and the larger sensor with variable aperture is really nice. Cheers

I prefer the Nano+ in low light.
Hi Great video comparison. In my opinion the lite+ is better in all those shot taken during sunrise and against the sun. The shot at 2:00 is great on the lite+ however the Nano + everything is crashed and all colours are lost. After sunset and during night the Nano + seems to do a little beat better but the overall image is sharpen a lot. This helps in low light, the Lite + is softer and the overall image is more pleasent to my eye. At the end you can't go worg with either of those drones
Yes I think you are right but it is confusing as the Nano seems a little sharper and slightly better in the dark. It is good to see the Lite+ is a great drone too. I've only had it a short time and this was my second flight. Cheers

*I don't think you can go wrong with either one. In my opinion you have the Nano+ settings "dialed in" better than the Lite+. The Lite+ seems to have "softer" footage compared to the Nano+*

Too anwer your question the nano plus looks better, but too each his own, everyone of will see something different. As I said before, u can't go wrong from the evo 2pro ,to the lite ,the lite plus ,or the nano plus ,none of them need noise reduction as dji drones do . The dji drone, are the m3 and mini 3pro, but u will have to use some type of noise reduction, to get them where the autel drones are.
Thanks so much. I like the Nano+ too. It seems brighter and clearer. I think the Lite+ was better into the sun. But I agree all Autel drones are amazing, can't go wrong with any of them. I also have the Evo 2 Pro and it is still a great drone. I think DJI need to improve the low light capabilities of their consumer drones. They really haven't improved much over the years.
Ok the lite plus seems to do better in the colors of the trees, when it's dark, it brings out more green ,look at trees in the shadows, the np, makes them look more of a flat black. I noticed this , a while ago comparing it to my e2p. The npis better where ever there is some kind of ligh, t it picks up more details and makes those areas brighter than the l p. The nano also makes the buildings more detailed, and sharper,also the streets. The new camera on the evo2 pro, v3 will the same camera as the evo 2pro , i believe ,but with 10 bit, instead of 8, if u put it in log, at night and use 800 iso, it may be better than both of these 2, but u can't go wrong none of these they are all fantastic and great without noise reduction.
Thanks for your comments. I think you are right. I still have my Evo 2 Pro v1 and now wondering what to do with it. I prefer the color profile of the Lite+ compared to the Evo 2 Pro but the Evo has LOG 10 bit and the Lite+ is only 8 bit. If only Autel could add 10 bit I would be so happy. I am not sure I will go for the Evo 2 Pro v3 unless it is so much better. Cheers

Yes good idea and thanks for the suggestion. I was planning to do a city summer update similar to my winter update a few months ago. i just need to wait for better weather over the next month or two. I just got back from Perth with some nice city shots so that one will be next :)

Really difficult to decide which one is better. Regarding the overall image impression in my opinion somtimes the Lite + wins and sometimes the Nano +. The Nano + footage looks a bit more detailed, though. Did you shoot with white balance set to manual? I don't understand why sometimes the colours are almost lost completely.
Yes I think you are right, each drone is better in different circumstances. Yes I did manual white balance but that is not the issue as I corrected both footages on the same white sample. I read that the RYYB sensor in the Nano+ allows 40% more light sensitivity than a normal RGB sensor in low light scenarios, however in some circumstances the color may not be 100% accurate. So I think that is what happens to the color at certain light levels where it loses the color. It doesn't happen all of the time, only at certain light levels.

Thanks for commenting. Yes l would also expect that however the Nano+ has exceptional dynamic range. The Lite doesn't have LOG so both drones are 8 bit colour and the Nano+ is F/1.7 so it lets in more light. It is a tough choice to work out which is better. Cheers
