  • Showing the Monorail; the Ski Slope; Waterskiiing; the Wild West Saloon and (most exotic of all) the Tiki Beachcomber Bar, with yummy-looking cocktails ("glamorous concoctions") priced at only 4 bob.
Scanned from a faded 16mm film where we have managed to replace some colour. Roll on summer holidays!

@@janeokeeffe5297 It was a magical time as a kid .We couldn't wait to get to the camp .we used to stop half way at the side of the road and eat sandwiches that mum had prepared for us ,and a flask of tea with a red tartan pattern on it lol .
When we finally arrived ,seeing the gates and the funfair in the background was just brilliant 😁👍.
A whole week of doing what we wanted .Mum n dad let us go off and we'd just meet up for dinner at the dining room ..Happy days indeed.
I remember the music🎶 they used to play over the tannoy to wake us up in the mornings .There was a speaker 🔊 in every chalet if I remember rightly 😁

I'd love to go back in time to about 1974 .I remember going into a daytime disco and hearing Rock your baby by George mcrae 🎶 Whenever i hear that song it instantly takes me back to that day aged 13 .
The last time I went to Butlins was a Filey in 1977 age 16
I'd been to pretty much all the camps including bognor ,Minehead, Clacton, Skegness, Filey , Yarmouth.
Such a shame they closed a lot of them ,and are not the same

@@spud912 yeah same we went to all the butlins from the 60s through to the 80s the only one we didn’t go to was Ayr, it was just a bit to far, 1974 was a great time for music, I remember the disco at Filey was great, I was at Skegness the year Elvis died and they played his songs the whole time, we were probably at one of the camps at the same time 😀it’s a small world
