This is probably one of my favorite episodes. Just a great conversation between a few friends. No Frank Miller, Or Morrisons, or Weadonisms. They're all great anyway.

Omg!! I remember watching this episode when it was kinda new and dismissing the Keenan guy in Sal's story about New York ComicCon. Now we've seen him! He's real lol.

The other story was at the second Special Edition. I was waiting to meet Scott Snyder to tell him how much I enjoyed his prose book Voodoo Heart. There were these guys ahead of me with carts full of comics so I knew where this was going.
The staff went down the line telling everyone there was a limit of three books to get signed because he has a panel afterwards. The guys ahead of me got mad, telling the guy the limit wasn’t fair and this was messing with their livelihood. Some guy in the back of the line had enough and said “Get a real fucking job, losers!”
The line laughed and applauded. They didn’t say anything after that

I’ve had the experience of being stuck behind the one asshole who brings a stack of comics for one person to sign.
It was 2002 at a comic convention in Madison Square Garden and I was on the line to meet Jim Aparo. The guy ahead of me plopped this huge stack of comics in front of the guy and started passing them to him. No hello, no small talk, just “make sure to sign it here”, pointing to a spot on the cover. Didn’t even say thank you.
When it was my turn, Aparo asked if he could have a few minutes to rest his hand. He was older at this point. So I used that time to talk to him, which was great, and when he was ready he signed my stuff. That whole experience is why I make sure to say thank you and get stuff signed to me so they know I’m not some eBayer.

A great classic episode. If you weren't gonna watch the whole thing go to the con queue cutting "con-versation" at 15:30 - just impecable story telling from Sal and wonderful responses from Ben and Ethan. You could refeature it as a clip on its own or something!

I had a booth in 2012 at the NYCC selling my book. For every sale i offered a pot brownie or cookie, and of course a beer ( You can not imagine the return customers for shirts and hats hehe). We were playing old Shaw brothers kung fu movies on a big screen. Maybe we met? Awesome show, loved the stories!

Thinking about it, I think the only thing I'd realistically pay money (like $50 or less) to get signed is my Spider-Man: Blue trade and have it signed by Tim Sale or Jeph Loeb.
I doubt I'd ever get the thing signed though, because I'd look at the fee and go "Yeah, but money though".

    "No, she's my girlfriend!"
    "No, she's not..."
I mean, I guess that's kind of the response you want when someone sees your girlfriend. But I guess also not because you like to think of yourself as in her league.
    So whatever.

TVLittleHouse Just throwing out an example of a nut who could stand there and get a bunch of comics signed without going straight to Ebay with them. Believe me, I would have had a stack for Slott as well but I was waiting in line for Scott Synder and they were booked around the same time. (NYCC 2013)
Great show by the way. Look forward to future episodes. :D

    • @ryebreadreturn1
      @ryebreadreturn1 10 лет назад

ONmedz Hey ONmedz, thanks for watching! 9 comics is a totally reasonable amount to have signed. I'd go as far as to say up to 20 is cool if you're just that big a fan. We were more talking about people who literally have a box or boxes with dozens of comics to get signed by one dude. I think at that point it's kinda giving the middle finger to everyone else in line.
