I just bought a new car and I've not yet stalled it - the bite point is a lot lower than my old car - so I'd panicked myself about stalling at speed and this has made me feel a million times better! Thanks.
Great video. As a note on the stop-start not restarting after a stall, often they require you to completely remove your foot from the clutch and then fully depress it within several seconds of the stall, I'd guess you just missed that window of time to restart it.
I have had a lot of help from your videos... I am a new driver so for me the best part in your lessons is the mechanics, why and how of a step.. Thanks & continue the good work😁
I have barely stalled in a lesson before but had my mock test last week and stalled on a hill and I had no idea what to do, I panicked and the car started to roll so I put the handbrake on and then tried to pull away forgetting the handbrake was on. Stalled. Forgot to turn the engine on (it's a button not a key) then tried to pull away in nuetral, it just went from bad to worse as I panicked so bad. Then this happened again on a roundabout on a hill, I was so embaressed. Thankfully you just put this video out and I have a lesson on moving off next week lol so hopefully next time it stalls I will be able to recover quickly and safely if my nerves don't get the better of me. Thank you for explaining this and showing examples :)

The biggest strain from repeated stalls is indeed put on the engine and the transmission. Unless done frequently AND deliberately, the components will take it, and not have a word about it - they are rugged, and are designed to handle it. The most important point for anybody learning and getting used to driving stick / a manual is TO KEEP CALM. Did you stall? No biggie, happened to everyone once in their life. Have you identified why? Good. As said in the video, make sure not to stall again due to that. Now just put these issues to the back of your mind, and focus on your current task; get going, flow with the traffic, be confident. Confident behavior will probably help you assure the Instruction and/or the Jury/Judge in the car that sh!t just happened and you are over it.

what you demonstrated at 4:04 happened to me when I first started driving manual, had cars ahead of me stopping and then going again I was in 3rd or 4th gear don't remember but I put it down into 2nd gear and dumped the clutch and tried to press the gas and the same thing happened to me. It was right after an intersection and people were staring so embarrassing now I understand why that happens lol, everybody says don't downshift into 1st gear when your still going you can always start in 2nd but never explain why and how you can start in 2nd gear when rolling
Love all your lessons and eagerly wait for new tutorial . Can you please make tutorial or suggest on approach with below scenarios. 1. Approaching and driving on uphill with cars moving snail speed but not stopping - I caught on this situation couple of times. I was driving in 3rd gear and moved to 2nd gear as I approached to uphill and traffic speed went from 20 KMPH to 5KMPH as moved forward, I kept car in 2nd gear but car was lugging and stalled. In other same instance I moved to 1st gear while car was lugging in 2nd but RPM was near 800, car did moved but due to low RPM it took a while to gain momentum to speed up. This whole time I was scared that car will stall any time and may roll back. My query is with how to move in uphill traffic with speed less than 6 KMP and how to approach and keep the correct gear and RPM in check. 2. How we can prepare the car and overtake quickly in situation 1 when there is a slow moving loaded vehicle(Bus, Trailer) which will take time cross uphill. There is safe to overtake but I feel I may stall the car while overtake or it will lug, hence I am not confident with overtake give pass to others to go ahead and I keep speeding behind slow moving vehicle. 3. Keep car steady and in control on BAD pothole roads and speed breakers - This situation I can experience on country side or the road with construction going on . I slow the speed and put car to 2nd gear but still the car feels to wave/ wobble. 4. Judging the front of the car while parking. - Need a help with correct way to judge front of the car while front bay park in tight spaces with any reference point. Pls help with this situations with show and tell method. Advance thanks
Thank you. I already have a video on slow moving on hills. Overtaking is a good video I need to do. Speed bumps I recommend 10mph and slow down if the road is really bad. There is no way to judge the front and rear of the car. Parking sensors are wonderful, getting out and checking is sensible, practise improves your judgement and above all else, don't go closer than you feel comfortable. Precision drivers can get within centimetres but new drivers struggle to get as close as half a metre. It takes time and practise because what you actually see out the front window is misleading to how far you actually are.
I know I’m 2 years late to reply, but some helpful advice for judging the front distance while parking, that an older gentleman taught me one day when he saw me struggling to avoid hitting a parking bump; when you can see the curb ahead of you lined up with the bottom of your side view mirrors you should have a good few inches of space between your front bumper and the curb. So far this has proven to be true with all the cars Ive driven.
I guess it also depends on the car. My old car has a very short first gear, when I try to clutch in first gear with 5 km/h it's really slowing the car down. But I also have to take most corners in 3rd gear or I have to be very slow because my 2nd is also kinda short. Or in other words when I let go of the break and I start rolling it's kinda pointless for me to use 1st gear as it would actually slow me down from the get go. But I also can drive up steep hills in second no issue, many other cars I've driven require first there or they stall.
I stalled my GTD last week doing a roundabout on 4th gear at low speed 😂 was completely focused at traffic on the right. Recovered but car hesitated but so awkward as I put hazard on in case. Rarely stall but still getting used to the car.
Never forget the engine brake in first. Fine maneuvering, slow getaway can be executed even downhill (unless very steep), where the engine's braking can be used to slow the descent. Of course, if space is given and there is a chance, why not.
Hey man, love your work. Could you make a video on the basic signs and symbols that may appear in your car on the dashboard and on the buttons? And what they mean/do etc.
Conquer Driving 😂 I might be moving if it carries on like this! I have my practical test coming up on March 19th! 💪🏽 Thanks for all the material; I really enjoy that your explanations relate things to the mechanical workings of the car!
my truck loves to stall on 1st gear, you can't skip past the bite point even a little, and starting on a hill is quite difficult as well, i usually use the hand brake, but i know it's possible using the gas and clut h in the biting point
3:37 that IS EXACTLY what I've done when I bought my first car (and actual car). Because is a 2001 car and has lots of small issues it's a bit tricky to put it in first gear. So if you move the shifter to left and up there is a high change you actually put it in third gear. For first there is a secret: put it in second (shifter to left and down) and while holding the shifter to the left move it higher from second to first gear. And boom that's how you change to first gear in my car (Astra G 2001, 2.0 DTI). Well when I bought the car I had no idea this is the technique. The previous owner did not tell me about this issue. He said car works perfectly. And well it is working perfectly except for this issue. And maybe some loss in power but I think it's the age at fault. So I had no idea about this issue. I took the car, it was a downhill. The clutch was barely warming up even if I set of in third gear. i had to travel through an intersection. My engine stalled. I managed to turn it on and set off again (also in third lol). I got to a bridge which was a bit uphill. Now it was very difficult for me to set off. I barely moved the car a few centimeters, the engine was stalling and also a huge clutch smell invaded my car. I was a bit afraid that I fu*¥ed up the clutch of my "new" car. I put the car in second gear and used the second gear to set off. I managed to get home safe and everything was fine. The clutch cooled down and the car worked okay, even today I use it daily. A few weeks ago I even towed a lorry and it happened almost the same thing: clutch slipped and the smell felt inside the car. I guess next year I have to change the clutch lol. Also when I bought the car I forgot how to use reverse gear: there is a "ring" which needs to be taken up and then select reverse gear. I love my car 🥰🥰 11:05 yup exactly my mistake. I was 114202% sure I was in first gear and I had no idea why my engine keeps on stalling. Oupsie Daisies I was in third :))
Stewie :-) Nice one! Thanks for the info. I had the engine stalling at the traffic lights during the exam and I recovered immediately by just remembering that you stalled the car on purpose 🤣.
I love your teachings about driving and it has helped me a lot. Am JAKONY from Uganda.Much love. #conquiredriving. I would love to meet you one day. I learnt how to drive from RUclips and now am a complete driver with driving license.
I passed 2 years ago but hadn't driven since. I had a few refresher lessons and have now driven in my own car a few times but have stalled at traffic lights and emerging out. I think it might be because I've got my foot on the brake and am coming off the clutch at the same time- so I think if I go for the gas instead of the brake, I might be ok hopefully!
You are talking about torque not power. Power stays the same in all gears, they only change how much torque you send to the wheel. In other words you change the amount of force thats trying to turn the wheels, not the amount of force over the moving direction per time, wich is power. Otherwise though, really nicely explained!
@@ConquerDriving sorry I was never taught to pedal balance is what I mean. So hold the clutch just below biting point and gas set. As a consequence I am scared it'll go wrong if I try it
Curious questions: now that the sale of petrols, diesels and hybrids are planned to be banned for sale from 2035, how long do you think driving instructors will teach on manual vehicles? When do you think people will begin not to bother with manual lessons? How long do you think it will be before manual cars are hard to come by in the UK, at least as new cars? From an enthusiast's perspective, do you think automatics are as fun to drive, and what will the "enthusiast" do after 2035?
Excellent question. I'll make a video on that. They're not banning them in 2035 as of yet, that's just a proposal. As a driving enthusiast, I find autos very boring however enjoy them in big comfortable cars which are boring anyway.
Moved into a stop start auto system manual car recently, stalling now is so confusing, sometimes it sorts itself out, other times I get stuck and annoy the drivers behind me because it doesn’t turn the engine back on for me so I have to completely restart the car, preferred just doing it myself to be honest and not relying on the inconsistency of the stop start helping me, it just throws you off when it does or doesn’t work I find. Although it is rare.
I noticed I didn't have to take my car out of gear to recover from a stall. Literally restart the engine and slowly find my bite. My friend used to say take out of gear. Now I learnt myself.
My instructor tells me to start the car with my foot on the clutch and brakes. And as we reach the bite point to slowly let go of the break and let the car move a little then slowly accelerate as I let go of the clutch. I've been watching some of your old vidz, Why is it that I haven't seen you start the car with clutch and brake? You usually clutch then accelerate
Hi I ve just started driving since 3 months... I'm from Egypt And I can say that my driving become better except 2 things and you will be very thanked if you have any solutions 1_ the car is stalling while I'm trying to reverse and there is a bump or high thing like a rock behind the car as I'm afraid to push a gas more than the required so I will hit any thing behind me 2- it's very hard for me to change the lane because I can't judge if the car behind me is near or far specially that we have in Egypt a crowded roads Appreciate your kind advise or if you could provide a video about those points
Both the issues sound skill related which require practise. You need more gas to stop the car stalling. Try using your central mirror as well as the wing mirror to gauge distance. With more time you judgement will improve.
Can you make a video to show us how slow can you go in every gear ? I wondering , if i'm in 5th gear at 90km/h and need to slow down to 40km/h for exemple, or even less than 40, i must change to 4th or 3rd gear? ( Sorry for my bad english )
It really depends on the car but as CD said just test it out. My car with a bit more power can easily drive 50km/h in 5th gear and even slowly accelerate but with less power that wouldn't work (accelerating). If you go too slow for the gear the car will tell you though. First the car will start to vibrate, then it will start to "hiccup" before stalling.
In my next to last lesson I chose 5 instead of my intended 3 and stalled, the engine stopped. Then I needed to restart with the key. Since then I am scared that the autorestart system won't kick in at the critical point, leading to the absurdity in my last lesson when I stalled, I didn't notice that the engine restarted itself so I tried to do it with the key. My question is: if you are too stressed to hear if the engine is on, is the rev counter a safe indicator to see whether the engine restarted itself, that is if the revs go up and are not zero?
The rev counter will always be at zero if the engine is off. Press the clutch to see if it restarts, if not then turn the key. Instead of trying to work out how to do something when you're stressed and rushing, I recommend trying not to be stressed and rushing as that's a dangerous way to drive. If you're feeling this way, pause, breath, slow your mind down and think. Don't panic.
That's a good answer, first stop panicking, then do anything else. A big thank you for your amazing videos and your willingness to answer all the questions people have - I have a feeling you will most certainly pass your driving test to heaven 😄
Hi @Conquer Driving bro you're keep rocking bro with helpful video.🔥🔥🔥👍👍..even though I don't have a manual car it helps me alot....by the way bro I have some unclarified doubts and I need some solution 1.as you said earlier the engine will go up pitch when i get the bite point and I add some more gas once the reps drop below 1000rpm and car the keep moving off ,so how long should i keep on clutch pedal still?you have told me before if that situation you have to hold for 4 sec... but can I just refer to mph I mean hold the clutch pedal above 5mph then I take off the foot from the clutch ? 2.Do the revs and mph increases as the engine goes up pitch?
How long you have yo hold the clutch depends on how much gas you add. The more gas the faster you will be before coming off the clutch. The revs and mph will increase when the clutch is finished. You have to experience and feel it to understand. The vat certainly feels and sounds different once the clutch has synced the wheels and the engine.
I've been in a situation where when push starting the car, it wasn't turning fast enough pick up speed, but not slow enough to stall after I pushed on the clutch pedal... Should this even be possible?
Stewie at end😂failed other week for not speeding up enough and making progress as I thought i’d end up speeding abit in the brand new car I was doing the test in since it pulls more than mine and ended up failing for being too slow😂re booking this week though that was all it was for hopefully 2nd time
Conquer Driving cheers mate, always found your stuff helpful and that too will keep it in mind, I can drive I just overthink in situations and stuff but I will do its just annoying more than anything
Hi @Conquer Driving bro🙌🙌 3.when we going at junction as you said we must have look mirror signal speed gear and decide but when it come to speed you told that we have get the speed down, so can we use engine braking method by change down lower gear? 4.if I have come from 5th gear at 40mph then I want turn left so I check mirror and signal then I slow down car using brake until revs touch 1000rpm then I clutch down get into 2th gear then I lift and hold the clutch for few seconds until it reduce 10mph then I turn left and accelerate with 2th gear....can I still use this method? 5.if I not confident to turn at junction as fast can I wait at the stopping line before turn whether it is open or closed junction?
Very good point, as you get more advanced you can use gears and engine braking at the same time as braking. I get beginners to do everything separately.
Point 5: you should aim to continue when possible. Stopping at every junction for no reason would be a fail. But if it looks difficult then stopping is fine.
Sometimes when I want to shift down from 3rd gear, I accidentally put it into 4th instead of 2nd. What I usually do then is push the clutch in immediately after realising my mistake and pop it into second. Usually you still have enough rolling speed to swiftly let off the clutch and make the engine come back to life again that way and carry on as you would have normally. Might not be very easy for learner drivers though.
Whether or not the car stalls depends on how low the revs go. Going to 4th at about 15mph will rarely to a car, you would need normally need to be less than 10mph.
@@ConquerDriving Well, apparently when you're approaching a junction and slowing down and you're driving a VW Transporter TDI from the year 2016 (not that the year matters that much), engine speed will be around 1500 rpm when leaving 3rd gear. When you engage 4th gear by accident (thinking it's 2nd gear) it will get below 800 revs and conk out with a rather large bang (must've been driving about 15mph). 1st time it happened it made me think I actually broke something.... That fortunately enough wasn't the case. I have about 5 years driving experience but it still happens from time to time. Not that I worry about it. Not at all.
Conquer Driving fair enough, do you think it will make a difference to any car when you turn it on with the clutch down all the time?will the mechanics of cars even have an issue with turning it on with the clutch down, I don’t understand how it can to be honest.
@@MK-gb3rw Starting the car or not doesn't interest the car in that case. Holding the clutch for long times will put stress on the bearings and springs but whether you start in neutral then clutch for first gear or start with clutch down doesn't make any difference to the car. It's just safer to start with the clutch down just in case you have a gear in (especially if you drive with foreign cars because most people park in first gear without handbrake). And newer cars often require you to press the clutch down or it refuses to start.
Is it generally a good idea when you feel the car shaking, like it's about to stall for whatever reason, that you can just clutch in all the way and it should not stall if you do it quickly enough? Then you can just find out what's going on and fix the issue.
Yesterday I was in reverse gear and the car was stalling. Apparently, cars tend to stall when the handbrake is on xD (I'm still learning how to drive by the way)
Sometimes I stall and I try and turn my car back on again with it in first gear and the engine just doesn’t turn on? I have to put it in neutral. But then sometimes it does turn on in first gear? I want to be able to start it in gear because putting it in neutral and putting the handbrake up wastes time.
Super helpful 👍 thank you very much 🙂 special thanks for being so funny. I think I can say that every new driver's nightmare is stalling :) especially in huge traffic 🤣 so thank you again for useful tips. I wish I could take some lessons with you in person even I have full license there is plenty of room to learn and develop.
This guy made me never stall again, the secret is to be calm and stop panicking about the traffic and focus on your car...many Thanks.
Best tip ever: Clutch=save
If you think it will stall just push it back in and try again
Good advice!
that also means that if you do stall it’ll automatically start up again (in certain cars at least)

Very helpful again, hopefully it will all help, they way he explains everything is really good.
Hey man, love your work. Could you make a video on the basic signs and symbols that may appear in your car on the dashboard and on the buttons? And what they mean/do etc.
Good idea!
@@ConquerDriving no problem! nobody has this video idea on their channel from what I've seen and I could really do with this as well as others! 👍
Yeah sounds pretty good you have 3 car types to compare differences also great idea
Just check your car's user manual all symbols are explained there
Wow it looks like summer in this video :O I might have to visit Colchester to escape the wind and rain of Storm Dennis! Haha
We do get the best weather in the UK.. Apparently 😉
I love my car 🥰🥰
11:05 yup exactly my mistake. I was 114202% sure I was in first gear and I had no idea why my engine keeps on stalling. Oupsie Daisies I was in third :))
I guess it helps going to 2nd before 1st as it will spin the shaft up to a closer speed.
Because of you, youuuu, I was able to learn car in less than a week
Thank You
Wow, that's very fast.
Thanks alot Sir Richard for the important reasons as to why manuals stall.
#OneMessageFoundation
Stewie :-) Nice one!
Thanks for the info. I had the engine stalling at the traffic lights during the exam and I recovered immediately by just remembering that you stalled the car on purpose 🤣.
I have learned so much from you... Thank you...
I love your teachings about driving and it has helped me a lot. Am JAKONY from Uganda.Much love. #conquiredriving. I would love to meet you one day. I learnt how to drive from RUclips and now am a complete driver with driving license.
I'm very happy I helped you! Good luck on the road in Uganda.
Dear Richard, please make a video on uphill reverse driving clutch control to move the vehicle very slowly backwards.
That's the same as moving forward uphill slowly. This video should help ruclips.net/video/BmM-fO5AFHc/видео.html
Gas before lifting the clutch will certainly help the car move.
You are talking about torque not power. Power stays the same in all gears, they only change how much torque you send to the wheel. In other words you change the amount of force thats trying to turn the wheels, not the amount of force over the moving direction per time, wich is power. Otherwise though, really nicely explained!
I understand that, but power is a good word to help people understand without getting too technical.
I have passed my test. But was never taught to find the bite and set my gas before the give way point of a roundabout.
As long as you don't slow after the give way line you should be fine.
@@ConquerDriving sorry I was never taught to pedal balance is what I mean. So hold the clutch just below biting point and gas set. As a consequence I am scared it'll go wrong if I try it
Learn something new every day my car won't start without the Is brake and clutch pedals being pushed in.
The driving professor!
Conquer Driving thank you for your reply - it would be amazing if you did that!
Automatics are boring, but EVs like Tesla are a rush.
Thanks bro I like your videos , they are really helping me !
You're welcome and thank you!
I realize sitting position makes a big difference for the clutch and the gas pedal.
That's true!
Much easier that way.
Thanks my brother ❤️❤️
my boy's seatbelt and shirt somehow has him looking like a mormon missionary in this one lol
Hi I just want to thank you for your videos you help me with small feet excellent Thanks a lot

“It’s early 2020” - me wanting to warn him for what is about to come
For that reason I'm glad we don't know what's in store for the future
My instructor tells me to start the car with my foot on the clutch and brakes. And as we reach the bite point to slowly let go of the break and let the car move a little then slowly accelerate as I let go of the clutch.
I've been watching some of your old vidz, Why is it that I haven't seen you start the car with clutch and brake? You usually clutch then accelerate

As always a great, engaging and informative video.

Hi I ve just started driving since 3 months... I'm from Egypt
And I can say that my driving become better except 2 things and you will be very thanked if you have any solutions
1_ the car is stalling while I'm trying to reverse and there is a bump or high thing like a rock behind the car as I'm afraid to push a gas more than the required so I will hit any thing behind me
2- it's very hard for me to change the lane because I can't judge if the car behind me is near or far specially that we have in Egypt a crowded roads
Appreciate your kind advise or if you could provide a video about those points
Both the issues sound skill related which require practise. You need more gas to stop the car stalling. Try using your central mirror as well as the wing mirror to gauge distance. With more time you judgement will improve.
Great videos, any plans to make a video on proper steering wheel control and movement?
I have a video from the past, but I may update it.
Always helpful and useful. Thanks
Fanatic video!
OMG you are amazing I hope you were in Ireland
Great advices.Exellent!
Here's a little rhyme for those who are struggling (it's terrible I know)
When your stallin, put the clutch in
😂 Very good.
Can you make a video to show us how slow can you go in every gear ? I wondering , if i'm in 5th gear at 90km/h and need to slow down to 40km/h for exemple, or even less than 40, i must change to 4th or 3rd gear? ( Sorry for my bad english )
Unfortunately it's different in every car. But use trial and error to learn your car. A safe bet, 1st 5mph, 2nd 10mph, 3rd 15mph, 4th 25mph.
@@ConquerDriving thank you very much , i love yours videos !
@@chaosmagican tnx man ! ❤️
Great work as usual.
Thank you!
@@ConquerDriving you're welcome.
Hi @Conquer Driving bro you're keep rocking bro with helpful video.🔥🔥🔥👍👍..even though I don't have a manual car it helps me alot....by the way bro I have some unclarified doubts and I need some solution
1.as you said earlier the engine will go up pitch when i get the bite point and I add some more gas once the reps drop below 1000rpm and car the keep moving off ,so how long should i keep on clutch pedal still?you have told me before if that situation you have to hold for 4 sec... but can I just refer to mph I mean hold the clutch pedal above 5mph then I take off the foot from the clutch ?
2.Do the revs and mph increases as the engine goes up pitch?
How long you have yo hold the clutch depends on how much gas you add. The more gas the faster you will be before coming off the clutch. The revs and mph will increase when the clutch is finished. You have to experience and feel it to understand. The vat certainly feels and sounds different once the clutch has synced the wheels and the engine.
@@ConquerDriving noted bro👍👍
how do I recover my dignity after a stall though?
There is no loss to recover 😉
0 F*cks > Dignity.
Now that I think about it, yes, you're one step away from a flawless Stewie Griffin impression
You are amazing!!Bravo bravo bravo
Thank you!
Thanks for sharing it
I've been in a situation where when push starting the car, it wasn't turning fast enough pick up speed, but not slow enough to stall after I pushed on the clutch pedal... Should this even be possible?
Higher gear pls. Explain this lower gear and higher gear
I will add it to my list
When he lifted the clutch fast in third gear and the car jerked, i felted the transmission hitting so hard with the flywheel and enigne and it hurt
I know your pain.
@@ConquerDriving how economic is the leon?
Stewie at end😂failed other week for not speeding up enough and making progress as I thought i’d end up speeding abit in the brand new car I was doing the test in since it pulls more than mine and ended up failing for being too slow😂re booking this week though that was all it was for hopefully 2nd time
I wish you the best of luck. Try not to drive fast though, people who fail for going too slow often end up going too fast. Try and drive sensibly.
Conquer Driving cheers mate, always found your stuff helpful and that too will keep it in mind, I can drive I just overthink in situations and stuff but I will do its just annoying more than anything
Hi @Conquer Driving bro🙌🙌
3.when we going at junction as you said we must have look mirror signal speed gear and decide but when it come to speed you told that we have get the speed down, so can we use engine braking method by change down lower gear?
4.if I have come from 5th gear at 40mph then I want turn left so I check mirror and signal then I slow down car using brake until revs touch 1000rpm then I clutch down get into 2th gear then I lift and hold the clutch for few seconds until it reduce 10mph then I turn left and accelerate with 2th gear....can I still use this method?
5.if I not confident to turn at junction as fast can I wait at the stopping line before turn whether it is open or closed junction?
Very good point, as you get more advanced you can use gears and engine braking at the same time as braking. I get beginners to do everything separately.
Point 4: yes you can.
Point 5: you should aim to continue when possible. Stopping at every junction for no reason would be a fail. But if it looks difficult then stopping is fine.
@@ConquerDriving noted bro👍👍
@@ConquerDriving ok bro👍👍
Not at all.
What car are you driving?
2014 SEAT Leon fr SC 1.4 TSI 140
But doesn’t some cars require the clutch to be up in order to turn it on. So it would be tricky to manage some of situations as quickly
Never been in a car that requires the clutch up.
Thank you! 🤗
You're welcome
Is it required to turn off the aircon after you stall before you turn on again the engine?
Definitely not, just clutch down, engine on, select correct gear, make sure it's safe and continue.
Does Stalling a car frequently, will damage the car ?
Possibly, depends on the car and how you stall it. If it's smooth then it's unlikely anything has been put under too much strain.
Is it generally a good idea when you feel the car shaking, like it's about to stall for whatever reason, that you can just clutch in all the way and it should not stall if you do it quickly enough? Then you can just find out what's going on and fix the issue.
If the car is struggling then the clutch definitely needs to go down and you need a lower gear. Ideally do this before the car struggles.
Yesterday I was in reverse gear and the car was stalling. Apparently, cars tend to stall when the handbrake is on xD (I'm still learning how to drive by the way)
😂 All part of the fun of learning.
Sometimes I stall and I try and turn my car back on again with it in first gear and the engine just doesn’t turn on? I have to put it in neutral. But then sometimes it does turn on in first gear? I want to be able to start it in gear because putting it in neutral and putting the handbrake up wastes time.
Just hold the clutch down then you'll be able to start it.
Stalling Out is Common for Beginners
Yes it is.
