    You've no idea how reassuring it is to know that even a driving instructor gets confused about lanes and speed limit signs when driving in a strange town or city.

    I passed my test first time with only 2 minors. Before my test I made many mistakes however when it came to it, I just relaxed and gave it my best. I’m super self-critical, and on my first test I thought I’d made loads of errors. My driving instructor made sure to tell me that no matter how many mistakes I think I make, continue driving as though you haven’t made any. Don’t give up. Turns out in my test I’d only made one minor error.

    • @Mxerked

    • @sarahg2721
      @sarahg2721 Год назад +11

      @@Mxerked take each moment as it comes in the test! If you’re a worrier and an over thinker like me, try to give yourself permission to *not* do that for the duration of the test (virtually impossible, I know), but even if you think you’ve made a major fault - act like you didn’t. Tell yourself you still have a clean slate. I thought I’d made a serious fault and it turns out it wasn’t even a minor one. If I’d got in my head about it while finishing the test, it would have negatively impacted my driving and I’d have been more likely to make more errors. And then I really would have failed. Try not to be your own examiner during the test - that’s their job. Your job is to drive as safely as possible, and to do the best you can. Beyond that, a lot of it comes down to luck! If you never give up, you can never fail. Good luck!

    At the beginning of my driving and in the driving school I was quite often nervous and was like "how can someone enjoy driving". A while after I got my license, when I got used to driving, stopped being afraid and nervous behind the wheel and got my own car, I started to really enjoy driving. For like last 3 years I enjoy it so much,I often just grab the keys and go for a random drive just because I feel like it and almost always come back home more relaxed, happier and satisfied. I do it to even relax after hard times or while feeling down. Despite some.... not so good drivers that drive dangerously, when i encounter one, I usually am not nervous for longer than couple of seconds,If necessary I just press the horn, relax and move on. I also always say to myself that when you are about to drive, take your ego, anger, tension and frustration and throw it in the bin, because if you take it with you behind the wheel, you will be only doing mistakes, you will only be more frustrated, angry, may put others in danger and possibly have an accident. If you put it in the bin, stay calm, dont look for trouble, you will start to enjoy driving. (edit) one thing that helped me is a change of mindset, you described it in lots of your videos, like dont be tense, dont desperately try to catch up with others, drive at your own pace, take your time for everything and etc.. Thanks for the vid!

    I passed my test in 2017 and have hardly driven since. The reason is that I found I was a very nervous driver. It was probably down to a lack of experience, and confidence. I also had one or two minor incidents which didn't help and put me off driving. It's frustrating because I want to be able to drive and I know there is a good driver within me, otherwise, I wouldn't have passed my test. I want to get back on the road and build my confidence up which is partly why I'm watching these videos. I hope I can get back behind the wheel soon but will probably need some refresher lessons now.

    THANK YOU!! At 7 minutes in. I have done this for years and you do the same. Namely, when in traffic and there are cars waiting to leave a junction from the left, let one in, go forward then the next driver lets one in. I rarely see this happen these days. It does ease stress and stops drivers 'bullying' their way in because no one will let them in. It was commonplace years ago, but not these days.

    Hi mate, love your videos, I work around Colchester so it’s fun to see the same roads… the arrows pointing back in where the lane didn’t merge, they are deflections arrows indicating a double white line system, line closest unbroken and telling you which side to pass, a bit misleading I agree because they aren’t positioned very well, probably because of the chevron area lead in didn’t allow space so they moved the arrow to the left, normally they’d be positioned further to the right, traffic signs manual chapter 3

    My three rules for staying calm, based upon my 45 years behind the wheel:
    1. Maintain a safe distance.
    2. Assume that other road users are simply having a bad day if they do something stupid.
    3. Be extra courteous in allowing drivers to pull out when appropriate, sometimes even if you have right of way - a surprised 'thank you' wave and smile are worth much.
    Although a 'white van man' I am also an advanced driver and courtesy from such a vehicle often results in surprised or even shocked, but happy faces!

    Hey! Just wanted to comment that i discovered your channel about a week ago and must've watched upwards of 30 videos by now. I'm around 16 hours into my lessons, my control of the car is pretty decent, though I deal with extreme anxiety in day to day life which carries over into driving, so my main drawbacks are observing, confidence, judging etc. Videos like this help a ton for people like me, it just helps show that driving isn't always some scary thing that'll leave you mentally exhausted at the end of it, and that if you can manage to be chilled out about it, it makes all those things i struggle with a lot easier to manage while driving. Thanks so much!

    This is really helpful, I'm a terrible overthinker and get so stressed on the road. Fear of visiting new places as i don't know the roads. Satnav helps but still scary stuff.

    Reason behind UK driving channels on RUclips are more famous than US channels, we Indians also drive on left 🤣🤣🤣, and RUclips is banned in China. But this channel is very helpful to me especially this video, yes as a new learner with less than 6 months of driving experience I understood how important it is to maintain the patience while driving.

    Really helpful video. I recently passed just before Christmas but I’m having some issues with confidence when driving in places I don’t know, I seem to find myself driving in the dark more often than not with the time of year which isn’t helping! It always feels a lot more enjoyable when I’m relaxed. I have found it quite helpful to have a quick scan of the route on Google maps to scout out any big roundabouts and work out what lane I need to be in, probably a bit OTT but I feel more relaxed when I know what to expect! Keep up the great content. 🙌🏻

    I really like these "just driving videos". What I would mostly appreciate is a full video of managing parked cars and cyclists. The longer, the better. I really struggle with that. That also includes judging where my left hand mirror is - will I fit?
