How To Serve & Volley (Pro Tennis Strategy And Technique)
    1. Serve and quickly move forward into no-mans land
    2. Split step as your opponent hits
    3. Move through your first volley (first volley is usually around service line)
    4. Close off the net in case opponent gets the ball back

The art of the serve and volley game requires placement, position and quick reaction. Like pitcher in baseball you have to pay attention to how and where you opponent hit their return. What do they like and don’t like. You best make your choices according to the service score and set score. This was a great example of closing out a point. The weak floating return open up the left side of the court for a placement to end the point. Another great video lesson would cover where to place different types of returns or passing shots. This addresses taking the proper position in the forecourt to cover the angles on return/ passing shots. Going to the net in tennis is like going to the hoop in basketball. It requires a certain skill set compared to staying back at the baseline or shooting from the outside in basketball.

Thanks for the video Ryan! I've been trying to learn serve and volley as it's gotten difficult to win points on serve (even with a strong serve) against steady baseline players at Level 4.0 minus. Will try the techniques mentioned in the video!

Excellent analysis, Ryan. Didn't realize net to service line is a whole 21ft!

what is wrong with a high toss? I've been told to toss higher so it gives me more time to get into the trophy position while being relaxed. Or should I be tossing it lower? Thanks!!

Higher toss makes for harder timing when coming down and can make for erratic tosses. But if it’s working for you then keep it. 👍

Shouldnt the server have tried for a shorter volley there?
