I agree if your talking about serve and volley it's obvious you have to mention the 🐐 of serve and volley Stefan Edberg imo.🧐 His first volley is top notch 👌🏾🤌🏼
Hi Patrick, it's actually hard to explain these tips in a so easy way, and you do it perfectly, thanks a lot, really helpful to improve technique and have more fun !!!
Another good thing about serve & volley: it makes you train your volleys, which usually doesn't happen if you're only playing singles 😁 great video, can't wait to apply it tomorrow!
I love serve and volley coach! I've been a semi-professional tennis player(italian ranking 2.7) and since I'm enough growth to cover the net I've always did serve and volley in every match, because with my left-handed service I create a difficult in my opponent with a lot of spin and volley is always been my strong point. I think that also if in this tennis era people think serve and volley is not too useful, if a player is able to do it(respecting Mouratoglu tactical tips) he can earn many important points, surprising his opponents.
Hello Patrick. I find the lesson very good, particularly the part where you state that one must stop completely ever so briefly to enable the player to move in any direction. However you mention takint the split step inside the service line but none of the examples show a player taking their split step inside the service line. They do take their 1st volley inside but not the split step.
Serve and volley has one problem, you never know how hard the counter part is going to hit the ball, and if you do get it, directional problem at the impact, volley works well with medium or softer balls, all my respects to coach Patrick for not only for his teaching patience, I personally consider Patrick a tennis guru 🎾 similar to tennis legends like bollettieri 🎾
Try to be in the air, coming down, when your opponent is making contact with the ball. That way, by the time you brain processes where the ball is, you will hit the ground and can immediately spring in that direction.
Hello Patrick Mouratoglou, I want to get into tennis and I love your videos. Would you please help me list 10 of your videos to watch orderly, to kickstart my tennis career, thank you 😅
Ostapenko the winner machine is not having any problems with ball/court. She uses power/placement to win the points. Long rallies are the result of one player hoping the other will eventually hit the ball out.
Hi, how to have long rallies? One, two or three hits rarely 4. Its really frustrating. We have a bucket of balls. Its as if there is no progress, the joy of hitting is short lived.
I watched other of your videos about serve and volley, I understand every steps to execute but I still don't understand why you persist in telling that we really need to sprint inside the service box before making the first split step, which is almost impossible to achieve in reality because as we land after serving, we just have 1-2 seconds to sprint before the opponent's making contact, so basically 2 steps max, therefore we will split step in the middle between the service line and the service box but not in the service box. In fact, in every shown examples in your video, the player just make 2 steps and splits step outside the service box .... Unless you have a 1m50 legs I don't know how you can reach the service box in 2 steps, that's physically impossible! P/S: watch the serve and volley lessons explained by the 2 minutes tennis guy, he explains that we need to split step in a ""no man zone" between the service line and the service box, which is much more feasible in deed. Apart from this point, I agree with everything you say in the video, I'll definitely try this next time on match in high pressure point.
Was thinking the same. Watch rafter's game, his split step is always just in front of the service line. Also not blindly rushing to the net allows you to step back in case the opponent has an easy return and step forward if you anticipate he's in trouble. I think you should never be certain of volleying after a serve (unless you're totally useless on groundstrokes) but that the decision should be taken once you land from your service, based on the above.
In my opinion, as a recreational player and a tennis fan, the decision to slow down the courts and change ball quality is making the game boring. I believe we saw, in the beginning of this century, some of the best quality tennis. We had very different skilled players, the game was more versatile and the winner was determined in the details. Now, it seems tennis is mostly a physical battle and every point must drag with exchanges of 20 or more shots.

@@patrickmouratoglou_official Greatest of all time has to be Rod Laver though... a lot of great champions ie Sampras and Federer modelled their game off Rocket Rod !
Stefan Edberg should have been mentioned as one of the best serve and volleyers. He was incredible at it.
You cant name everyone
Well if only one person could be named, it should've been Edberg. Unlike some of the others named, that was his biggest weapon. Him and Navratilova.

and McEnroe of course
And Roger's are so lovely to look at and some of the most incredible stretch volleys
Patrick is the Mike Bender of tennis. Can’t thank you enough to share your amazing knowledge with us. Thank you!!!

thank you. I knew you'd love the serve, sprint, split step and sprint
Merci de nous partager tes connaissances, même de l'autre bout du monde et pas avec beaucoup de moyens, on progresse grâce à toi, thanks
One of the best Masterclasses ever. Thank you Patrick!
Just share it ;)
Thanks for the masterclass Patrick! i am going to practice that next match!! regards from Andalusia!
hey Andalusia !

Merci beacoup for your amazing explanation & simplification of the tactics...i will definitely try it in my next match😊
Amazing to watch these videos.. I was wondering why I was going wrong beforehand!! Thank you Patrick

As I have been very critical in my last comments I need to say this is an excellent video regarding serve & volley
Hello Patrick, the masterclass was very good. Greetings from Buenos Aires.
Amazing Patrick, Thanks from Buenos Aires.
It’s helping me with my serve too…I’m using it to better my serve and my volley. Merci
First of all, thank you for your great videos. Could you tell us something about tactics in doubles?

You are the great!! Thank you
John McEnroe. #1 in the world. Only serve and volley. What a talent.!
When should I do the first split step compared to when my opponent hits the ball? Before he hits the ball or when he / she hits the ball?
Usually just before/as your opponent hits so you can move as soon as you see where the ball is going.
Try to be in the air, coming down, when your opponent is making contact with the ball. That way, by the time you brain processes where the ball is, you will hit the ground and can immediately spring in that direction.
So you start your split before contact and land on the ground after contact.
Thanks @@proshepherd that was very helpful.
Thanks @@jakstrike1, very helpful!

Love the simplicity:
1. Follow the ball
2. Split (at the service box)
3. Come to net
For me the less stuff in my head the better.
can you share me about your racquet?, technique information ?
Hi, how to have long rallies? One, two or three hits rarely 4. Its really frustrating. We have a bucket of balls. Its as if there is no progress, the joy of hitting is short lived.
Serve and volley is so elegant, esp. with players like Laver, Sampras or Edberg. It's a real pity that it has died out. Let's revive it.

How come the courts are slower different surface? Are they bigger?
Awesome

I find long rally more interesting
Ostapenko is a boorish bad sport with a limited repetoire.
Merci beaucoup !
What about Federer??? Not one of the greatest serve and volley?? besides Sampras and Rafter lol
He was great at serve and volley (when he decided to do it), but it wasn't his game style. His game style was a great serve + 1 on his forehand.

I guess maybe if you serve 70 mph and receiver is standing by the back fence.😂

Serve and volley made tennis boring….its the rallies which receive thunderous applauses not S&V ….
Blake Shelton was definitely behind service box on his first volley. If 20 year old pros can't get up there then how you expect everyone else to?
You need to hire a professional camera man!!!
Mouratoglou is sooo overrated. Outdated
