"Tonight is the Night". Too young to be listening but it made me giggle & blush ☺😆!!! Hated it when my mother sung it. Was wondering, what is she thinking about 😖😂?
Lmao my mother used to play it a lot when I was younger but as we get older we appreciate the music our parents would play to death like Tonight is the night
@@josephinecannon228 Betty was born in 1953. The song came out in 1974. She was 21 when it was released. I was 9 in 1974. It's possible she could have sang it and they didn't release it until 6 years later. Evelyn King released Shame at 17.
@@sharians-bluesky Please reread my statement and stop adding to it dang!!!! I only stated that she sung it when she was 15 which is what she stated in an interview years ago!!!!!!Nothing else
Your assessment is CORRECT! In the deep south, that's exactly what the "seniors" would say, "Y'all don't know nothing 'bout this" while drinking brown liquor! Oh, the memories!😀😁😁 Dang, she got the white flag and the fan down! HILARIOUS
RIP Ms Betty Wright. A true Miami legend! A rich history of great music. Sang background for Stevie Wonder and many others. So humble , she used to give voice lessons to young people in the community. You gotta back to her teen years when she did The Clean Up Woman and Tonight's The Night. Miss her gift.
Thank you for showing Ms. Betty Wright some love. She was an amazing artist and Miami native who helped so many artist hone their craft. She just passed away in 2020, but will always be remembered for her gracious nature and awesome talent 💖
"Still can't explain how I can still love you like I do, but I do, yes I do. Still love you like I do." Gon' Twinz, this GROWN FOLK music !! Be GROWN or be gone. The BLUES IS ALRIGHT !!!! Thank you for honoring her. She's definitely one of the forgotten ones. Taught some of the best life lessons in her music. The woman was BADDDD !!!!
OMG, haven't heard this one in years! 😃This was kicking in the 80s - me and my friends hiding in the girls bathroom at church on Friday nights listening to this and singing along, knew all the words by heart! The nostalgia is strong!! 🎼🎶
The Blues always have the best stories. People tend to forget that she had that songbird whistle just as Minnie Riperton and Deneice Williams. But because she was a Blues artist she got swept under rug by the mainstream. Never the less, she's a musical treasure.
"Hello Twins. This is Lady Anita. Yes indeedy, Lovely Legend, grown folks music. Endless hits, "Clean Up Woman, No Pain, No Gain, Tonight Is The Night."
I grew up listening to Betty Wright in what would be considered "juke joints" with dirt floors...good music from the jukebox, the best fried chicken sandwiches with a pickle on the side, an ice cold Pepsi in the glass bottle, and a game of pool!
This reminds of my mom frying fish and making potato salad for our regular weekend house guest. My dad and his friends would be drinking Thunderbird and grapefruit juice and playing Spades while this was playing along with Johnnie Taylor's Everything's out in the open. This some good old down home music right here.
I used to play this song when my ex did some f"@k shit. He would huff and puff and roll his eyes while I would dance around the house trying on all my new clothes and shoes after he would take me shopping as apart of his apology.
That shit still slap in the south. Please listen to No Pain, No Gain that’s part 1 of this song. Then listen to Woman to Woman!!!! Y’all don’t know nothing about this at all
Yes! Yes! Big people music. Loved listening to Betty back in the day. Please review her song 'Keep love new'. Big tune. I'm coming back with some Lovers Rock classic suggestions for you boys 🎶 🎵
Great choice and another fun reaction to one of the legends of r & b👍 more good Betty song recommendations below. She is one sister who lays it on the line - all the time! 👠💪 Love you guys 💕
I love this song. I am truly old school and a lover of slow jams. I would for you guys to experience Mittie Collier, The Three Degrees and Etta James just to name a few from my era.

I love this song! Brings back good ole memories of where I was at and this song played so much in the club! And that's right God not sleep. You shouldn't do nobody wrong ,but if you mistreat a good loyal woman!! . Oh the price you will pay!!!
I’ve never heard of Betty Wright before, but love this music video!💕 Asking you once again to please play and react to the music video “Dance Me to the End of Love”. This song was written by the Canadian singer/songwriter Leonard Cohen in 1984 and was dedicated to those who lost their lives during the Holocaust. In a 1995 radio interview, Leonard Cohen said that in certain Concentration Camps, a string quartet was forced into performing this song while their fellow prisoners were being sent into the Gas Chambers. The members of the string quartet knew that their fate would be the same. This music video is beautiful and an important part of our History. It doesn’t contain any footage of the prisoners. I am sure that you and my fellow RUclips watchers will be “touched” by this music video. Love your Channel!💕 I am a Patron member, so will be looking at your Patron Channel. Sending prayers from San Antonio, TX.🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
If you enjoy Betty Wright's storytelling, you have to check out Richard "Dimples Fields". His inimitable "If It Aint One Thing, It's Another" is a good start, and you can also explore "She's Got Papers"... which is legendary for inspiring another 5 or 6 songs by other artists, including Betty Wright, who makes a guest appearance on Dimples' record.
I'm glad Betty Wright stuck to her roots and remained in blues music. She had plenty of opportunities to cross over to other genre's, but remained true to the blues. Now that's a lover of their own art. Salute to her! Seems like you two learned some things when you went down south. Did you find out that all American music with the exclusion of BeBop and Hip Hop originated in the South? The two premiere influences of all our music was Little Richard and James Brown. Both are from Georgia. But they got it from the black church from negro spirituals, enhanced it to the blues, then rock & roll then to soul music and then r&b. When many of them migrated up north, they took the gospel and the blues with them and created the other genre's. I'm not from the south but went to school in Mississippi at Mississippi State and they played the blues all day every Saturday. That's when I learned the history of this lost art form. Please continue to react to more blues artist.
"For Love Alone," by her. I'm a native St. Louisan, who once listened to a lot of talk radio. There was a black/liberal-ish local host on several stations during his radio career, named Richard "Onion" Horton. He used "For Love Alone" as his show opening theme.
I'm so glad to see that you're embracing blues music. This music has been dismissed by the younger black generation. Ms. Wright was one of the best song writers and vocal coaches of the past 4 decades. She deserves your reaction and it was a nice one. Enjoyed it. Check out her song "You're a Hoe." Don't let the title scare you from it. It's not vulgar at all.
I have this song and "clean up woman" on my playlist by Betty Wright. You need to check out The Staples Singer song called "I'll Take You There". I know you'd love it. 👍🏽
Reminds me a little of Dianne Warwick. I remember you reacted to her way way back. You should react to more of Dianne's hits. from the mid to late 60's.
No Pain, No Gain is part one to this and you'll see how they go together. Mrs Betty is a Miami legend and I'm glad you found her...
“Pain” is part one, “No Pain, No Gain” follows that one, then comes “After the Pain”, then “From Pain to Joy”!
@@melodysullivan434 wow you know your stuff, I never even heard that fourth part
"Clean Up Woman" is probably Betty Wright's biggest hit. You have to do that one. You have probably heard hip hop records sample that song.
