Brilliant and I am pleased to say that after 60 years of shooting, and many of them as a pro, I am still learning about light and a good deal from you. Thanks for sharing.
She is incredibly talented in front of the camera and knows exactly how to respond to your demands. I learned a lot from this video and hopefully I can put it into practice tomorrow on my second shoot with a model.
One of the most gorgeous woman I’ve ever seen and she is also an increible human being. There is NONE bad picture of her, your job is piece of cake with her modeling.
She is always beautiful and tries to follow direction. I think she benefits from an occasional refresh at your studio. Good for her and all of us too! Nice lighting setup. Angling that reflector’s table made an interesting difference. Once again, thanks!
Never thought just changing the position of the feet would make such a difference on a close up portrait. Great video and Meika is quickly becoming my favorite model.
Peter this was so much fun and so inspiring. You’re a master sir. I love this young lady. Her skill and her beauty are second to none. I love what you and Bec create. It’s never without emotion. Thank you Peter. 🌈🎶🌪
I love seeing Meika’s progression within a session. I think I finally saw the difference between e-comm and modeling with attitude. Thanks as always 🙏❤️
another master class by Peter .. yes the model is great but his direction of the model is what brings the best out in the shots. Such a difficult job he has lol
Finding your channel has been the best thing since I started watching RUclips. I learn so much every single video. I love the way you work and your style of photography. Seeing the way you respect your models and interact with them is inspiring. If only all models were treated like that by photographers. Keep up the great work and all the best to you and Bec from the UK
Amazing. Huge Quentin, Uma an Kill Bill fan here. Even have the who hoo song as ringtone 👊 She is a great model to show how you change tension into beauty. Thanks for sharing and lovely weekend.
Directing a model as experienced as Meika poses a unique challenge. She's absurdly good at what she does, but if you want something other than what she's been doing all her life, it's going to take some work on both the photographer's part and the model's part. You know your stuff, though, and you're making sure she notices and feels every little difference caused by various changes (from her thoughts to her feet's positioning). The emphasis on the eyes is fascinating to me. I'm not sure I understand how eyes alone can have such a huge impact, but I can plainly see that they do. Amazing.
I based the build of my character in a video game on Meika a few years ago, and i still play with it, it's so... weird, fun and special to watch my Game Pc heroine working with you on your videos, she's so such a nice young girl, her sister to of course!
Meika is gorgeous. I've never seen a light box hung straight down before, but I think the size makes it work. Once photographers learn the 5 properties of light the rest is easy. Five properties of light: Direction, quality, color, area of coverage and intensity (relating to exposure). This is the ticket to learning lighting. In the good ol days of film, there was no playing or "chimping".... You just had to "know", being able to see the results only after processing and proofing.
This should be Exhibit A when talking about how body position and what a model is thinking changes how someone looks. I know you've demo'd it before in other videos, and maybe Meika is just a bit more expressive, but I've never seen it so clearly demonstrated and so many times in a such a short span. Excellent video, and I would put it amongst the top five of your vids which I've found the most useful.
I knew before that the mood of a photo can be changed just by changing clothes, but I never thought that in can do so much difference. And the stance, this one was a revelation for me. I'll defenately use it next time I have a shoot. And will tell my students about it as well Thnaks a ton for the videos you make Cheers from Bashkortostan
Many thanks for this new backstage session. @M: Many thanks for showing the kind of work you do as a Model. @M: Staying away from home shouldn’t be a sad experience, because you will have at least one reason to wake up every day, when you are overseas: the desire to come back home and meet again your family. @P: Many thanks for demonstrating the lighting lessons and for mentioning the relation between styling and posing.
I don't think you've done a better posing video that this one- the several outfits create a "portfolio in a box." And of course, it's Meika, who I truly believe is your best subject, as she takes instruction so well, and the result is stunning. Thanks for sharing this. ..Joe
Awesome. I think my favorite style was her with the short crop T (the Krusaders) and my two stance favs probably "turned in toes" and the "wide power stance". She's really good all around, though, so my favorites are simply "at the time of first viewing" this video. And you gave me the phrase "Rembrandty feel" which after I looked at just a few again to re-acquaint myself I totally get what you meant. ;)
Excellent! What I continue to learn from you is that the image/shot can be better. I thought that your first couple of shots were amazing. Thinking to myself how in the world is Peter going to improve this 🤔 and walla you indeed improve it. ❤❤❤
yes i know i am a photographer too. sorry i didn't mean that about you. i was just pointing out that your model is so pretty that even a kid with a phone can't make her look bad. sorry if i offended you in any way that was not my ittention @@PeterCoulsonPhotographer
Wow, the transition of Meika ( have2 year old grand daughter of same name) with a couple of directions was something to see. She really got into it after the outfit change. The evening wear she really looked stunning. She's coming along fantastically well and looks like being something.
The halo is created by Hasselblad's Phocus program using clarity and shadow fill, you can only do this with a Hasselblad camera. I can create the same effect using masks in Lightroom but I am going to do another tutorial soon showing how I can do it with light

Thanks for the video Peter. One question: the halo on the backdrop around her body, is that caused by the big soft-box above her. I would expect another shape, it looks rectangle. Frank B.

model lights don't show you what the flash is going to do. They are also orange yellow in colour which is the opposite to when we're working in fashion and many years ago my accountant pointed out that we had spent $3800 on modelling lamps
@PeterCoulsonPhotographer i meant, to use the modeling lamps to see where and how the shadows appears and how the fall off will be. But anyhow, thanks a lot for the answer.
Hi Peter, just out of curiosity, does your teaching platform have automatic subtitles for other languages? I'm wanting to get on the platform but I found myself in doubt about this topic, the question seems a bit silly, but it may be relevant to someone besides myself lol.
C'mon, she's so incredible I could make a photo of her in the middle of the night without any light with my first Nokia phone and she would still looks gorgeous. That's cheating :P
For those thinking why not just use photoshop or some fancy filters to get the light you want. Well the better the original the less work you got aka better usable for productions.
Why exactly use an iconic yellow Tarrantino top that is an homage to Bruce Lee with it's signature yellow and black stripes when you shoot it in black and white and make it lose all it's significance that's been carried by the color?
When I'm shooting I always shoot in black and white so I can see light properly and not colour. If I go to retouch one of those images I might process it in colour.
I love your unique approach to working with models. That, combined with your technical know-how, is unmatched imho.🙂
Thank you! Cheers!
What a beauty. Hit the genetics JACKPOT! Face Filters are made using her image.
Pro model, and pro photographer. Love to see pros work.
Thank you

I think you are the only photographer on the planet that can truly capture her beauty.
When you bring out her personality I just start smiling unconsciously. Her energy is amazing.
One of the most gorgeous woman I’ve ever seen and she is also an increible human being.
There is NONE bad picture of her, your job is piece of cake with her modeling.
Wow!!! How could she looks so beautiful on ALL shots and everything she wears?! Meika is fantastic!
Absolutely!
what's really great about Meika is that you can really see the changes in her thoughts instantly! so cool :)

Happy to help!
Amazing how different B&W can look from color.
Yes colour is distracting, black and white allow you to see light

I love the way you direct her while being patient and reinforcing, I need to do that more, I worry I show my frustration on my face during shoots
another master class by Peter .. yes the model is great but his direction of the model is what brings the best out in the shots. Such a difficult job he has lol
Thanks heaps
Holy holy holy cow! What a beautiful model you get to work with ! I gave your channel a " like " just because of her !!!
Thank you
Meika is amazing. Great photos and great continuation of the previous video.
Many thanks!
Love the teaching moments, very effective the changing of foot positions. Something I can think about trying for my portrait clients.
Glad it was helpful!
Always great watching you work, Peter. Love how you adjust and make subtle changes to get the look.
Thanks 👍
She brought her own styling?
She's definitely an amazing model and can really emote with her eyes and posing❤❤❤
The denim was Meika's the rest was our studio wardrobe
Very interesting photo session for these beautiful portraits.
Thank you
My favorite channel, always learn something new, love videos on how to work with models, area I am severely lacking.

Awesome! Thank you! I really appreciate that, if you want the best out of your models you treat them with respect like they were your daughters

Glad you enjoyed it
Yet another great and educational video there Peter. +1 for how good Mieka works in front of the camera

White about the white floor? Does this act as a reflector? How much light does this contribute to the image?
in this setup very little
This was superb! I need to find the previous vid. Who was the blonde lady in the background?
Thanks, this was the previous video ruclips.net/video/Uy2A-jQlMFI/видео.html and the lady is Meika's mum
Great pictures as always and very informative, thank you... Meike looks amazing... one question: do you have some adjustment layer going on?

Rembrandt never had a model as beautiful as Meika. Wondering if Rembrandt gave the same instructions.
Mekia is so suited to pearls and evening dress. Is it possible for anyone to be more beautiful?

What a 10/10 woman looks like..
So much technology and equipment to photograph a motionless model against a static background ahahahaha
I think there is a cure for jealousy, maybe RUclips it
What kind of jealousy? When you see so much equipment, you want to see the result to match.@@PeterCoulsonPhotographer
