I really hoped they weren't going to touch my beloved Tanoa , it was so gorgeous and perfect the way it was, and they went ahead and touched it.... and to be fair, it looks nothing like it was I wouldn't even had thought about it until you mentioned Volcano and then that it was lol..... and I swear, if they put functioning hares on Tanoa-Frozen and not back on Chernarus and the base game, and the damn ice pick we've been missing for how long, I'm going to be pissed yet again, like usual 😅

@champbailey7658 Without frostbite? Namalsk has been around for years, and offers infinitely more functionality and fundamental gameplay changes, like lantia, the suit, its own loot tables, custom weather conditions.
If the new "snow map" is just some cosmetic change, it's pathetic that development time even went into it. Namalsk is a FREE mod, and BI are going to expect us to pay for what is basically just a cosmetic snow environment?

Namalsk already nailed the concept. It's my favorite map and I couldn't be less excited for Frontline, it'll just be a 1-to-1 rip off, that's why they hired sumrak but it'll cost $40 unlike namalsk.

Super excited for this on console. Personally don't care what it costs, I'd pay full price for it all over again given DayZ has given me more play time than any game in history thus is the best value game I've ever had. I'm happy for a new product and to fund the studio.

they're modelling new assets specific to Sakhal, from what I've heard. There will also be re-used assets from Chernarus too unfortunately

Watch/listen to the full interview all of the creators had that went on the trip to Czech Republic. The devs confirmed that there will be new specific assets for this map like houses and buildings, however, they will of course reuse some assets because this DLC is basically to help fund the next DayZ title.
They didn't show much as they said pretty much everything is still work in progress so at the moment they have just copy and pasted a lot of assets to be able to show a teaser trailer.

Ho wow, I'm so glad they actually took inspiration from Sakhalin/Kamchatka, that's exactly the kind of map I wanted to see DayZ include. Kamchatka is a unique region to see for sure!

This is everything I coulda hoped for. Wanting a studio grade bigger Namalsk. 😅 I love it. If you’re disappointed, then you shouldn’t have exceeded ur expectations by listening to all the speculation.
Maybe you’re right about the expectations but it’s so obvious that this team can do something much better than an asset flip, yet it’s still all they give us. The “speculation” gave some of us hope that this game might actually improve. But this just proves that it never will

Yeah, i dont play Dayz i am interested in it but have nobody to play it with currently, when i read about people purchasing something for £11.99 or whatever it was and being compensated with a soundtrack i was disgusted to say the least, who tf even buys soundtracks for games? Lol... They could have given you guys a £10 off voucher on the future dlc content or something

Honestly i am very happy for Livonia being added to the basic game. The map is amazing(Could use a bit more work), but population is not what it deserves to be right now, and this will help greatly. :)

Very detailed snow technology exists in BI's sister company BI-Sim's VBS military simulations. Including accumilating and melting snow, snow compressed by people or vehicles, explosives causing craters in snow and even rivers dynamically freezing over and thawing.

Namalsk was always the best part of DayZ mod when i was 13, now Frostline will fill that void.
Wdym void? You can play namalsk in dayz standalone and it has way more features than the mod version afaik.

Disappointed it’s not a new engine. Big let down from expecting helicopters and huge changes to base DayZ
A few of the creators who spoke with the devs said it was made fairly clear that this DLC is basically to help fund the next DayZ title as they are working on it over the next year or two

Not really. Every single video game has bugs. For console players this is essentially a brand new game. $30 is very reasonable. Expect perfection and you will always be disappointed🤷🏻♂️

Awesome, cant wait to have an actual survival focused map which livonia tried to be. I think they should make Frostline hard to survive even for PvE players.
Livonia is a smaller map made for faster interactions between people and more action, at least that's how it was marketed

When you mentioned Siberian Tigers, music to my ears! I have been dreaming about that since the bears inclusion. I have been asking for a new predator, small game (hares will exist now thankfully, but also mice, rats, squirrels, birds other than chicken, etc.) and Ai survivors ranging from hostile to non hostile, to boost the PVE experience.
I'm not going to lie I'm pretty disappointed that it's not a new game like Dayz2, I hope that they realize and address that those building structures have been the same buildings for like 14 years the zombies have been the same character models for 14 years it's just you look at a new game like Gray Zone and what it looks like and then you look at this and you can't help but feel like it's falling behind, it's not something to look forward to playing. I've seen it, not the new map obviously, but the assets...
those building structures, well not all of them but many, are 20+years old from operation flashpoint and arma 2 lol

$30 is pretty steep when namalsk is free. Even at $21 when on sale, that's a bit much. Now, if it included bicycles, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. Q2 2014 was a decade ago and we still don't have the bicycles we were promised.
You know the only official maps are chernarus and livonia? Namalsk is modded and is only playable on pc and not on console.. Of course it's for free..
Even after all these years namalsk is still nowhere near as polished as chernarus or even livonia. Cant really compare the two.
You dont need to pay full price for the new map, just wait until it goes for 5 or 10 bucks on sale, no big deal.

Enfusion engine is already better than RV, once I played Enfusion I don't play DayZ at all anymore.

@@Bramble20322 no it isn't. It's mostly the old engine, it's a hybrid. Certain parts of it are enfusion like the animation system and driving.

True but remember, these are the devs who make a big deal out of an update that adds a new hat and a set of bizarrely incongruous medieval armor. A new map from them is like the second coming.

Maybe invest $$$ in acctual important things like fixing bugs and upgrading the game mechanics, then the game will promote itself... we have tons of beautifull modded stuff, we dont neeed more. We want the game to just work better. This game still have such glaring issues that i sometimes wonder how the hell i spent 5000h on it :D

I hope the volcano gives off ash periodically. I'd love to need to find a gasmask with good filters to go out into the heavy ash fall. Seeing the snow start falling and then realizing "oh, this isn't snow, it's ash! I better get inside or my mask on or run airborne illness."
I would love a wide river with only like 2 bridges that separate north and south. It would be a choke point so if you pass on one of the bridges you’d feel like someone is always camping it thus making it subconsciously feel harder. Plus if you go thru the water you could use game mechanics to keep your items dry and also stay lowkey crossing the river
