My wife and I have been there twice. First time was our 15th wedding anniversary in ‘10, what a magical experience it was! The second time was our 20th anniversary and was just as wonderful. A truly breathtaking place and SO peaceful and quiet!

I cried when I first saw Bora Bora and was descending on the island…I cried harder when I was in the plane and leaving.

@@cryptolord9826 Depends on the hotel you want. Can be reasonable to outrageous…the island and water is the same for everyone.
It cost me ~$9k for a week and that was on over the water hut at intercontinental…

Do you plan to do cayman islands too? I just used ChatGPT to find maldives in more affordable, and out comes cayman islands.

C’mon, relax, you don’t hear the helicopter, it’s couple hundred feet in the air, also why no drones or jet ski’s ? Imo you’re being dramatic about nothing. It’s a beautiful island and imo the more things to keep ppl busy the better off the island life is. Gotta remember, this island is in a very remote location, it’s thousands of miles away from any big city anywhere in the world.
Looked to me like they kept quite away from the resorts, there’s no other way really to get those amazing scenes without choppers & drones unfortunately.

Many many years ago flew to Tahiti on the inaugural flight of Air France to the brand new airport during Bastille celebration met a a man who had a float plane and he invited me to fly to Bora Bora as he was delivering packages. Landed in a lagoon, dugout picked us up and went to a very small village with extremely friendly people. As a bongo player loved the music and singing that night especially the drumming on the logs. A fantastic experience for a 21 year old on a absolutely spectacular island. Later in life named my Caulkins 50 sailboat Drums of Bora.

Beautiful memories. I went to Bora Bora in 2005 for about 8 days, but I looked at prices to travel and stay now and realised that I could no longer afford a trip like that. The snorkelling and scuba diving in Polynesia are something else

Maldives get a lot of attention because it's closer for Europeans. But, Bora Bora is far more beautiful and diverse

I have traveled a lot of the world and one of the most relaxing and beautiful vacations I ever experienced was Tahiti and Bora Bora.
Why did he turn around mid flight and not continue around the island? 10 minutes out & 10 back- I guess…
Maybe helicopter tours are not allowed in some areas. I'm sure they create unnecessary NOISE for people looking for peace and quiet on vacation.

I stayed at the Hotel Bora Bora in the 1990's. Not so developed then. Today the major hotel chains all have over the water rooms. Hotel Bora Bora was the first in 1970, but no air conditioning except in the jewelry store. Beautiful place!
They closed it, right? The manager was Spanish. & Julio Igledias made it famous. Only one public beach on Bora.
It’s still not overdeveloped because the government doesn’t allow it. They keep the islands expensive and hard to access for a reason. To keep a lot of tourists out. That’s why we love going there.

It's seriously the most AMAZING place I've ever stayed! The location is out of this world, it's on its own private island in the heart of Bora Bora's lagoon and the views are just STUNNING!
The accommodation is beyond luxurious, I stayed in an overwater bungalow and it was HUGE with its own private terrace and plunge pool. I felt like royalty living in my own private paradise. Was able to get this place for cheap at budgetarrival.
Skip Tahiti and Papeete. Stay in Bora Bora or Mo'orea. Both are incredible, with Mo'orea much less developed.

Fakarava, Aitutaki, & Mo’orea are more beautiful than Bora Bora. & locals prefer Maupiti over it.

We visited in 1988 - snorkeled and hiked on the deserted motus before a single resort was built. Incredible memories. Nice to see it all again and marvel at the changes. Thank you.

A Island with it's own Moat, unassailable. Beautiful Place, and climate wise a Paradise for us. It's a lot bigger than I thought it was, but this is as close as I will probably get... I looked up the price of things, water 7-10$ a bottle at the hotel. A drink at the bar....

I was there in February of 2019. It is exactly as video taped. I only wish the pilot had encircled the entire island. Nonetheless, it is beautiful. I loved it.❤

What are the rules/requirements now regarding masks in Tahiti? Do you still have to wear them around the resorts and on boats, flying, etc?
