Nice job reviewing a sequel that I also wasn't that big of a fan of in all honesty. Just a lesser version of For Life in multiple ways despite there being a few things that worked about it. But those few things aren't enough to save it if you ask me.
I like Michael bay and I think all 4 movies are good. But, I think these new directors are a better choice to carry the franchise. The 4th movies might be my least favorite, but 3rd movie was my favorite
It took a second viewing for me to appreciate Martin's comedy in this film. I didn't like it at first. Martin was at his best in the first movie. In fact, he and Will both were. What I do appreciate about the Bad Boys films is that they always do some kind of role reversal. In the first movie, for example, the criminals time out their police station heist in the opening, while in the second film, the heroes time out their raid of Tapia's home in the climax. In the first film, we see a goofy, throwback photo of Martin. In the second film, we see a goofy, throwback photo of Will. In the first film, Will saves Martin from getting run over. In this film, Martin saves Will from getting run over. Well, you get the idea. I think this movie was okay, but nothing is going to top the first film. Nice, in-depth review, Matt!
@@mistercool3859 I don’t think Matt gave it a nice review. On the one live stream he called Martin fat about 30x and he always mentions the Will slap. I knew he was gonna trash this movie before he ever saw it. You guys keep sucking his dick tho even when he tells you it’s okay to disagree.

In defense of the big eyed scene with the hotdogs. That was a callback to the fish bowl at the captains house. Now granted the fish bowl shot. His eyes were big, but the camera was not as close up.
Well, I liked the film, even though there were some issues that I had with it. The first thing I would like to say is that I didn't like that Mike got married to a woman who was not in previous films. I can understand if she is someone whom he had met and later married between the third movie and this one, but in many ways, it would have been interesting if it was either Rita or Syd, who may have come back and rekindled their relationship. Or maybe Julie (Téa Leoni) from the first film. I have always thought she and Mike got together after the events of the first film but things didn't work out. Hell, if Syd came back, I would have liked some callbacks to "LA's Finest" with Jessica Alba attending the wedding and maybe we could get the ultimate team-up with Mike and Marcus working with Syd and Nancy.
I Love Martin Lawrence he’s 1 of my Favorite Actors & Comedians, I Love Bad Boys 1, 2, 3, & 4, Blue Streak, Big Momma’s House, Wild Hogs, & Death At A Funeral Remake are my Favorites Of & His Bests IMO
The homages to the original were nice & the plane sequence was kinda cool, but apart from that? Utterly forgettable stuff! No real plot to speak of & villains so poorly written you don't remember their names. The comedy? Pretty lame, though the chemistry between Smith & Lawrence still carries it along even if it's not exactly funny. Overall a real dud! I've heard some talk about continuing the franchise with Reggie & Armando in the lead roles, but honestly that wouldn't work since their characters are played entirely serious. You can't have a Bad Boys film without comedic banter & yes, even a little goofiness. I don't feel we'd get that with those two. It'd be just another generic Action movie. The only way forward for this franchise now would be to do a crossover with another & the obvious choice is Beverly Hills Cop. If ever there was a time to do it then it is now since BHC is hot again. It would be a good send off for both franchises to cross them over & you know that it's possible with Jerry Bruckheimer being the producer of both.
There’s one character in the movie who is the hardass FBI guy that wants to take down captain Howard and we never get much out of him. There could have been a nice redemption for him in the last act where he sides with Mike and Marcus but they waste his character for just a few great moments
Awesome Rant Matt, Personally IMO I Loved Bad Boys 4, Great Action, Very Funny, Well Directed, Martin Lawrence, Will Smith, & Ioan Gruffudd did a Great Job, My Only Issue is it didn't make sense the PTSD Subplot with Will Smith, & felt like it didn't need to be there IMO, Plus the Main Villain Eric Dane Sucked IMO, & I didn't need to see Martin Lawrence's Ass though, but I Still Love the Movie though, but even though I Love All 4 Bad Boys Films, but I do Agree Matt, I Prefer Bad Boys 1 & 2 Above Bad Boys 3 & 4, cause I thought 1 & 2 felt More Energetic, Action Packed, & Lot Funnier cause of Michael Bay's Style which I Love IMO, but I Still Love all 5 Bad Boys Films, I Respect your opinion Matt, To Each There Own

I have fun with all the Bad Boys films tbh, never get tired of Smith and Lawrence's chemistry lol. I agree this was a step down from the previous film but I was still entertained mostly. If they do a Bad Boys 5 it better not be as awful as Die Hard 5.
Hi Matt what other sequel would you like to see done from the 90s apart from mission impossible and bad boys I always want them to do another speed I here face off is being done again
It would have been cool if Mike and Syd had rekindled their relationship, or even Mike and Rita, because I saw the tension between the two in the third film. Hell, maybe Julie, because in my headcanon, I had always thought Mike and Julie hooked up after the events of the first film.
I prefer Bad Boys 4 to Axel F but not by much. Definitely step down from Bad Boys 3 this should definitely be last the film installment including BC with Axel.
They really dropped the ball with this sequel. If Will and Martin were framed by the cartel and they go on the run to prove their innocence, it would've been a lot more interesting and intense. Why bring back a character from the first two movies if you're gonna kill him off like that. Why not have Fletcher working with A.M.M.O.? An underwelming villain that could've been threatening and three-dimensional. Will marrying someone else instead of Rita or Gabrielle Union felt dissatisfying. They lying when they said the slap had nothing to do with the Oscars. 😂 Those are my biggest issues with the fourth entry but it's only just a fun, mindless time waster with some great moments like the one with Reggie Wick. Hope they don't make the same mistakes in 5. They're thinking about going international like Europe, Southeast Asia, or the Middle East and I'm kinda interested in a Reggie spin-off.
I can agree with you on the points of Mike marrying someone else and Fletcher's return. This also would have been a good opportunity to bring back Syd and have her and Mike rekindle their relationship. Hell, I wouldn't be against if they would have Jessica Alba in this film if there was to be any connection to "LA's Finest." As for Fletcher, he, too, was also on "LA's Finest." I would have liked for there to be a reference to him returning to Miami after being in LA. Aside from those, I still enjoyed the movie.
I saw this opening weekend, and absolutely hated it. This is everything I did NOT want in a Bad Boys movie, I did NOT wanna see Marcus stopping off at a 7 eleven in the intro scene, then getting a heart attack, and then becoming a dumb idiot that hallucinates stupid shit and bitches about black jelly beans or junk food in general during a action scene for half the movie (and even feeling like a super hero because he runs and that NEVER affects him at some bits), I did NOT wanna see a reference to the will smith slap or Mike constantly freaking out over Howard mentions, I did not wanna see a action scene involving crocodiles that resembles the jungle ruins crocodiles in the looney tunes back in action video game for your finale. This is not even Bad Boys, this is where they got lazy. To me how you viewed John Wick 4 is how I viewed this movie. Worst of the series and one of the worst comedy sequels in a long time
@@dong.corleone I disagree. There’s movies like this that are still good even though the humor was a downgrade and then there’s movies like hangover 3 which just make you wonder why the 1st movie ever got sequels
2:12 He sure did from the clip I seen of him going ''John Wick'' mode on those bad guys breaking into Marcus's home. 8:49 From what I understand there's 2 reasons why she wasn't in the last film one being her character was on that terrible TV series spin off on FOX called''L.A. Finest'' with Jessica Alba during that time period that sequel was being made the other reason is both Gabrielle Union and Jada had a very bad falling out at one point with each other since Will is very spineless and wanted to please his boss wifey she wasn't asked to come at all hench why they added this random girl out of nowhere in the last film and big suprise now it's his character's wife. 12:36-12:55 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 23:00 That sucks big time I liked those characrers they was actually in the second film also played by different actors they did those characters dirty in this sequel bro. Awesome job bro maybe I'll give this sequel a watch if it's streaming online for cheap or free?
The movie had issues and is probably my least favorite Bad Boys movie, but I'd rather sit through it again than the new Twister movie, or Deadpool & Wolverine. One line about Thomas Jane's Punisher destroyed Deadpool & Wolverine for me. I gave up on the movie after that line and did not care the rest of the movie (I already wasn't liking everything anyway before that though). Well, the scene/line of dialogue doesn't exactly mention Thomas Jane's Punisher specifically, but come on. Read between the lines of the scene the line of dialogue is said in. It's clearly related to the Thomas Jane Punisher/talking about him. Actually, it's possible that it doesn't matter what Punisher they are talking about. It still ruins stuff. But when looking at who is all in the scene that the line is mentioned and reading between the lines, it's clearly the Thomas Jane Punisher. So yeah. With that, I will never watch Deadpool & Wolverine again. Bad Boys 4 is easily better and I would rather watch that again. I'd probably buy Bad Boys 4 as well, although that is more to complete the series/franchise since I own the first three. As for Twisters, I can't think of one positive to say about that movie. At least I like the characters in Bad Boys 4 along with the actors. Plus Twisters doesn't have a memorable scene like the Reggie scene. Bad Boys 4 made me like Reggie. What did Twisters do? Nothing. I didn't care about the characters at all in Twisters or any of the action/tornado chasing. If anything, I was rooting for the tornadoes to get rid of all the characters. Plus Twisters made me appreciate the first Twister more. I was never a fan of the divorce/fiancée stuff. Everything else was good. But after watching the new Twister movie, I'd rather sit through the divorce/fiancée stuff. At least it's fun to hate on that. There was nothing to hate on (for fun) in the new Twister movie. And at least Bad Boys 4 I never wanted to pause. I remained interested. Twister, I paused multiple times in the first 30-40 minutes. I did not care what was going on. Plus it was storming where I lived the day I watched it. Watching the weather outside was more interesting than Twisters. So yeah. With all the issues Bad Boys 4 had, it's definitely not the worst movie of 2024. There is still tons of movies that are worse.
Considering they took for years from 2020 to male this. It definitely let me down. I wish michael bay directed these last two. This franchise was hIs baby. Theu say theu didn't hire bay back, because he is too expensive. Plus he was working on other projects. They are making a 5. I know because after this week. It will have made 400 million. They better get it right with bad boys 5. I know the direct said. If they do 5 they have to take the action to the next level, and I agree and get new writers that understand good comedy. Not that lack luster shit. Also can we just get to Michale bay to direct the action in these movies and have the new directors do the other scenes SMH 😂. They better get it right with 5. I think they are done at 5 though. Will and martin said they have one left in them. I'm a huge bad boys fan. This is my favorite franchise l, so I will support it, but I pray they don't let me down for the last film. 🙏 I seen this in tje theaters twice. I think you have to watch it like 5 times. For ot to grow on you. I had to do that with 3. I liked it but now I like it even more.

I Love All 4 Bad Boys Films Especially The 1st 2 Films there Some Of my Favorites Of Will Smith & Martin Lawrence, But My Only Issue With the 1st 3 Films is I don’t like Joe Pantoliano as a Actor Cause I just Usually Find Annoying & Irritating IMO, But I Still Love All 4 Films Though

My other Issue is I didn't care for Jacob Scipio's Performance as Will Smith's Son, especially in Bad Boys 3 Too, I thought he was he was very Boring, & had Lifeless Performance, but I thought he was Fine in Expendables 4 though IMO
Damn sucks you didnt like it. I thought this movie was a blast. Especially in the movie theater. Will Smith pretty much made a comeback, i thought martin was hilarious personally. But to each their own.
You’re right. Martin Lawrence has always been more of the silly character but this is the silliest version of Marcus yet. But I laughed out loud because of how many times they hit you with Marcus being really silly
I never really thought that Martin was silly in the first movie. He was just a funny guy. In Part 1, his comedy was toned down and he was a badass cop. That concept was lost in the later films, probably to cater to Will Smith's "superstar" status in Hollywood.
@@ramboraph4life it’s bc he felt like he couldn’t die so I guess that he didn’t care about having a heart attack , I think this was the more turn you brain off approach , part 3 had the more serious tone, this one I think they just wanted to have fun.
The way you're describing this movie is making me real worried about Top gun 3. I know you weren't big on Maverick but both that movie and Bad boys 3 were made with passion,. Them making top gun 3 and this movie so soon are obviously just attempts to cash in on these franchises while they're still fresh in people's minds, not because the have a story worth telling.

In retrospect, 1 month after watching this film, I still like it but don’t love it like when I first watched it
Bad Boys Ride or Die the worst in the franchise. We dont need no Bad Boys 5
The plot for Bad Boys 5, Mike Lowery and Marcus Burnett go undercover in a retirement home. 😏
@@MrDman21 I think they should do a mini spinoff with Reggie and the son character.
@@wiinterflowers4277 that could work.
@@MrDman21 Like a one and doner and that could work.
Yes we do need bad boys 5 to survive
Hey Matt i show this movie yesterday is not good movie 😢 the action scenes is not good and not funny reggie was great in the action scene bad guys atack Marcus home was very cool Will Smith and Martin Lawrence no chimestry i prefare bad boys 1 2 and 3 i agree with you about this movie 100 take care Matt
I'll always will be a big fan of Will Smith because I grew up with him in 1995
Definitely my least favorite of the franchise BUT I still liked it. Still who would of thought Beverly Hills Cop 4 would be the better film in 2024.
I didn't bother to see this film. I heard it wasn't as good as the first 3 films.
Thought this fourth movie was ok. The third movie was a bit better to me. The first two movies are still the best :)
Thanks Walker. Lmao... Classic Matt😂
If you think bad boys ride or die was bad
Try out bad boys Miami takedown video game
Because that game everybody says it was terrible
Because they didn't have will smith and martin Lawrence as voice actors and they don't look nothing like will smith and Martin Lawrence in the game
Yeah, I wasn't as impressed with this either. Then again, I didn't like part three that much. The first two are where it's at.
Me as the refree: Looks like We Have A Winner and that is…… BEVERLY HILLS COP 4!!!!!
Note: Unfortunately haven’t seen beverly hills cop 4 & this film yet likely due to personal stuff going on in terms of life but that’s just me.
One day i will check it out.
Nicely video 👍🏼👍🏼
My other Issue is I didn't care for Jacob Scipio's Performance as Will Smith's Son, especially in Bad Boys 3 Too, I thought he was he was very Boring, & had Lifeless Performance, but I thought he was Fine in Expendables 4 though IMO
Damn sucks you didnt like it. I thought this movie was a blast. Especially in the movie theater. Will Smith pretty much made a comeback, i thought martin was hilarious personally. But to each their own.
Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F was so much better.
A sequel nobody asked for.
The black community asked for it. Go watch Star Wars or something
Well it made a ton of Money. So you're kinda wrong on your dismissive comment
People don't ask for a lot of stuff but they get it anyway. When are y'all gonna realize Hollywood doesn't care about you, just your money?
@@MrDman21 I didn't watch it in cinema. I watch these for free.
@@shadowleon659 doesn't matter. They're not gonna stop making these sequels and reboots because there's people that do pay for it.
Nooooooo lol yea man I usually agree with you but hell no this was easily one of the funnest of the franchise.
They bring up 'if Martin gets stressed out, he'll have a heart attack' and then do nothing with it. There are tons of stuff like that in this movie.
@@ramboraph4life it’s bc he felt like he couldn’t die so I guess that he didn’t care about having a heart attack , I think this was the more turn you brain off approach , part 3 had the more serious tone, this one I think they just wanted to have fun.
Now I gotta go back and watch OCP Mike's review of this movie. That review was hilarious 😆
Sad Boys...Sad Boys...Whatcha Gonna Do...
It was hilarious
@@OcpCommunications 😂😅
The way you're describing this movie is making me real worried about Top gun 3. I know you weren't big on Maverick but both that movie and Bad boys 3 were made with passion,. Them making top gun 3 and this movie so soon are obviously just attempts to cash in on these franchises while they're still fresh in people's minds, not because the have a story worth telling.
It was about 5 years in between and plenty of great sequels took only a couple years. Most people enjoyed this one.
There’s a post-credit scene. I won’t spoil it but it had something to do with something Martin Lawrence said earlier in the movie
that scene was terrible uhh! its stupid they didnt show the scene in the trailer where martin is fooling around on wills car and he drops the car keys then will says gimme the keys
@@migueldisla2332I don’t remember the scene in the movie that you speak of
@@walkerbolton2076 it's after the credits the scene wasn't in theatres it's where Martin said he had a dream that will was a donkey they go back to that after the credits it's funny but was not a good joke really lol
@@migueldisla2332 no I have seen that. I mean I don’t remember any scene where they drop the keys
@@migueldisla2332 oh ok it wasn’t in the theaters. That explains why my Apple TV had the movie listed as 1 minute longer than other places had it listed
Yes Matt I finally agree with you
In my opinion Beverly hill cop 4 copy 123 also
Ill stick to the Bad Boys Spinoff L.As fienst thanks
Now that's 🧢
Baaah, mediocre.
feels tired like carting around Snopp Dogg.
worse film of the year so unbelievably bad makes 3 look like a classic bad
Worse than Madame Web.
@@anubusx I have no intention of watching that
@@JCVDfan4life
A wise choice.
Part 3 and 4 are awful. Part 2 is where its at.
