That was why the second green light disappeared from under his face. So, when Kingler was recalled I think it was out of the fight in terms of league rules even though the ref didn't call it. Look at when Charizard unleashes a barrage of Flamethrowers at Zippo during the battle with Ritchie. Zippo did not get hit ONCE, it just kept running away until Ritchie recalled it. Though the ref didn't call Zippo as unable to battle; look at the scoreboard when the ref calls the match as Ritchie winning since Charizard wouldn't battle. You'll notice two of the three red lights under his face were blank signifying Zippo's return being a "forfeit" which is BULL! That was a bigger WTF than Squirtle ruled unable to battle after getting hit by Happy's Sleep Powder.

I do have to say, the battle with Ritchie did spark up a lot of debate 2 decades later when similar events occured with a certain grass owl.
