If Seinfeld were anything like "Jerry" it would have been cancelled after one season. Jerry and Larry were trolling the typical bad sitcom.
@@davidgalinat4257 I always thought that "The Seinfeld Chronicles"/early "Seinfeld" kinda was like "Jerry" (and that The Pilot had to have been at least partly inspired by the first couple of seasons of "Seinfeld"). When the old episodes show up on reruns, I always wonder how the show managed to stay on the air, since it wasn't until somewhere in season three that the two most important things (for me) happened--they brought on Elaine and figured out how to use her, and Jason Alexander switched from doing a Woody Allen impression to a Larry David impression. Before those two things, the show had some PAINFULLY unfunny episodes.
The whole pilot was pretty bad and the actors... If it was anything like the actual show it would have bombed.
@David Galinat Jerry and Larry were light years ahead of the curve in the 90s. It's comedic just how well versed those two were in comedy.

One of the greatest things about Seinfeld is the creation of the show inside the show.

The intro for "Jerry" was brutal. Sax with guitar synth. And the four of them toasting with beer? We never saw any of them drink beer- except Kramer. He's been known to drink a beer or two. 😀

Actually, when you examine it you can see it just doesn’t make any sense. The wallet was in Morty’s jacket the whole time. How did it end up in Jerry’s house? This was just a way to get Jerry distracted from the show for an easy joke, but the problem is this is lazy writing. One of my most hated moments in the show (a proof that this show is so good)
The cut to Newman asleep with the game on still gets me twenty years later.
The actor playing Kramer in the pilot that started choking did awesome 😂 that's definitely something Kramer would do lmao

Kramer couldn't get the role playing himself because he had to go to the bathroom. I think they said Jerry's friend was up for the real role of George, but they liked the performance of Jason Alexander.
This is the type of show NBC originally wanted.

Funny how it just occurred to me that the guy playing “fake” Kramer is also the same actor who plays the scrap yard man in Breaking Bad.
I love how terrible the show is. The long intro of cheesy music over Jerry's stand up, the terrible jokes that are meant to be funny, Jerry's rich apartment which doesn't suit him at all. I'm sure this pilot was supposed to be not legitimately funny.

One thing we learned from this is that, in the days before Downton Abbey, Americans had absolutely no idea what a butler was or what he was supposed to do. Also, they thought that Jeeves was a butler.

Hey, Marla is still with JFK Jr.! They must’ve connected pretty quickly for her to lose her virginity to him on the same night that they first met. This shows it wasn’t just a one-time thing; it sounds like they genuinely experienced love at first sight. A rare happy ending for a Seinfeld character.
