      DMC1 is lightning in a bottle when it comes to its aesthetics, being a result of its origins as a scrapped Resident Evil game repurposed into a new IP and the only game directed by Kamiya rather than the current mainstay director Itsuno. Both of them had different visions as to where to take the series, though Kamiya is accepting of the direction Itsuno took it.

    Is it worth mentioning that Trish is a short name for Beatrice, Dante's guide/love in Paradiso? Also, in addition to Latin, the meaning of Nero Angelo is the same if translated from Italian, although if we wish to be truly correct in Italian, it would be Angelo Nero.

    Devil May Cry is honestly a series with lots of potential that I WISH had a deeper story than it does for most of the games. I haven't totally finished it, but so far DMC5 has been pretty solid with it's story, and I'm tentatively optimistic about it's very end. Honestly, before 5, 3 was the only one that hit it right with me, and 4 was really disappointing because it was mostly about Nero, a totally new, and at that point, pretty bland, character. The half-demon twin rivalry between Dante and Vergil was _gold_ in 3, and they basically did away with it 4. I'm not going to spoil anything, but I will say that luckily, as many people expected with 5, Vergil _is_ more involved.
    Sorry, I got very much into my irrelevant personal opinions prior to the video, but having watched it, I really like this, as I do most of your videos, and would be interested to hear more on DMC if you indeed have more analysis!
    P.S. I thank you deeply for saying Nero Angelo. They didn't correct the "Berial" or "Nelo Angelo" translation errors in 5 and it made me salty.

    • @mastermarkus5307
      @mastermarkus5307 5 лет назад +1

      Okay, just finished DMCV and can confirm that the ending is satisfying for me, and feels nicely cumulative, (but open in the way these games are) including for Nero. Though it was also a little disappointing in the way I think the overall series' story is disappointing - there are a lot of _potential_ ideas, but they largely go unexplored in favour of a simpler plot. And sure, action games like this don't _need_ a complex plot, but I like it when I can _feel_ things about the characters. I like it when it's evocative in other ways besides just "being cool". The Bayonetta series isn't super complex either, but at least it went into backstory, especially in the second game, and because of that it actually got me to feel things like sadness and sympathy.
      And these games have extra weirdness because ever since DMC 3, Vergil has kind of felt like a character who _belongs_ in a deeper series, like he's trying to have emotions but is hindered by the general lack of them in other characters.

      Is it considered the same universe, or did you just recommend a series with demons? This is the first time I've heard it. (Either way, I'd like a SMT recommendation because I've always been unsure of my feelings on the whole series) Personally, I'm into the kind of lore where demons aren't always bad or against humans. I know you "collect" demons in SMT games but I'm not sure if I'll like the gameplay because I'm picky when it comes to how RPGs play.

    • @derevcheirtov2332
      @derevcheirtov2332 4 года назад

      @@mastermarkus5307 If you've played DMC2, then you understand Dante went to Hell, SMT3 Nocturne (not maniax) explains what Dante is: a Fiend of human/demon blood, on par with the Four Horsemen. The player oversees the choices of a human who's timeline is collapsing and is made a 1/4 demon, a Demi-Fiend, due to Lucifer intervening (not Satan, the destroyer), leading you to Dante (after he tries to kill you) who eventually aids in whatever ending you choose.
      Genre-wise it resembles Final Fantasy if V from DMC5 was the protagonist. Most SMT games play that way save for Persona (well kinda), DMC, Bayonetta, Most Platinum Games, etc... If anything just diving into lore without playing still just blows my socks off.
      This game is probably the best starting point to understand DMC/SMT lore, which is actually a huuge amount of games! Though if you want less intensity, Devil Survivor 2 does a good job, too.
      TL:DR
      They're all connected and you sound crazy explaining it to others. Demons have their own personalities which drive them through good and evil, mostly by player interaction (cause we are talking 4D concepts of human thought changing with culture evolution).

      The fallen Angel's aspect is found in a lot of mediums. Looking into the book of Jasher and Enoch, it explicitly says they are of the fallen Angel's. Often calling them Watchers. The bible touches on it and hints at it throughout. Genesis 6. Ancient mythology is filled with this kind of stuff. Zeus being a god comes down and sleeps with women to create a demigod like Hercules. God is a rough English understanding of the Hebrew word for elohim (el) is a sign of deity status.
