    I'm kicking myself for just finding this video!! Could never EVER chip....drank all the kool-aid out there with YT vids....never worked (of course it couldn't be me....haha! This breakdown, the REVERSE PIVOT at 9:25 is an absolute game changer! Seriously dude....THANK YOU!!!! It feels right, I forget about the hands and all the other garbage...and going from a trap in the back of my stance (never EVER worked) to using the bounce (scared the hell out of me) and that reverse pivot move....legendary!!!

    Been playing golf since elementary school and played HS golf on a good team in NC. Your technique was very helpful as I am nearing 60. I have had a hard time chipping over the last several years. Used your technique today on the range was very happy. My goal is to break 80 again and haven't scored under 86 in a long time. Chipping and Pitching have been the cause. Wonderful lesson sir. My nephew is one of the top Amateurs and was in the HS class of 2022 out of South Florida. Top 5 recruit with Nick and Caleb.

    After struggling with chipping yips and what felt like total disintegration of my short game for years, this video has reversed everything to the point where I feel like I can make chips. The first part of this video that talks about the 'counter intuitive' motion of dipping your lead shoulder to initiate the move was the game changer for me. It's allowed me to properly use the bounce and go at the ball with speed without worry of digging the leading edge, which is producing a lot of spin. Thanks Clay, this was so helpful. I tried this once and felt it on the first go. Wanted to say thanks, actually excited to hit chips and pitches now :)

      @kiyonishimura504 Год назад +1

      @@PM-oo7wp I understand your struggles, maybe not 20 years of it but I know how frustrating it can be to hit good shots and get into a good position then mess up easy chips. Def stick with this methodology, I haven't chipped in for years then holed out for a eagle on short par 4 a few weeks back then on Monday chipped in for birdie and chipped in again for another eagle. I'd also pay attention to your angle of attack, I'm trying to be as shallow as I can on moderate to good lies and its making contact so consistent...I'm having fun chipping and hope it's gonna be the same for you!

    I tried these shots today with my wedges and even my long irons to get out of the jungle and I can't tell you how much of a difference they made. The chipping was so good. Need more practice with distance control but I made atleast 5 pars which would have been bogeys just by trying this type of chipping. I can't thank you enough for this video clay. I've tried everything to chip better and nothing quite clicked quite like this.

    I pitched today at the local driving range and I was hitting over a bunker about 40 yards out with very little green to work with. Used my 60 degree. After practicing the pitching techniques I ended w 10 pitches. I put 7 balls close enough to most likely make if I putted. One was almost holed out and left me a tap in. The 8th one was on the green but I pulled it about 15’ away. The others rolled just off the green past the hole. I was extremely happy with how consistent I got with it in just 30-45 minutes of practice. The key for me was to make sure to rotate through and that resulted in less chunks. Thank you Clay, I’ve got the itch now to play everyday! I’m about a 15 handicap and w the short game lessons from Clay’s videos I think I’m going to be breaking 80 consistently very soon.

    I've seen so many different approaches to chipping on YT. It was quite validating to me that you addressed that the average golfer is likely unsure of which to pick. That said, I think your approach is my favorite so far. I like the idea of being able to use loft to create spin and fly over areas of green with a ton of break. The bump and run method sucks for that, however, you don't really thin or chunk your shots nearly as often that way. Your move, the "reverse pivot", along with opening the club face, seem to really work to create a more consistent low point as well as a ground impact feeling that is more of a glide and less of a harsh bounce. The chipping stroke is starting to make so much more sense to me. Now off to the muni to practice!

    Confirmation of what I discovered not long ago. An upward moving rotation transferring body weight forward stopped my ever chunking or duffing a chip shot again after making it an absolute element of my chip swings. If you rotate through the swing path as the club head flows under the ball, you can literally feel the club doing all the work. Distance control simply becomes a metering of how far you take your backswing relevant to the lie. Deeper rough, bring it back a bit more but do the same swing sequence with that same rotation. It’s become like shooting darts at the flag, lol. 👍🏻😎👍🏻

      @@TopSpeedGolf, by the way Clay, your video instruction of getting your hands low and sweeping through and upward at the release point of the swing is absolutely genius my friend. This might get a bit long winded but here goes, lol.
      I just got back from the practice facility and followed your lead up drills exactly for how to get that “low hands” feeling through the midsection of the downswing before contact. The feeling of power as soon as your body naturally starts upward as the rotation stands you up is quite unexpected. I’m fact, it was a damn revelation. I had NO idea I could bring my hands that low through the swing without slamming the ground. But if you time it correctly as you explain, there is a whole other gear of power in there for sure. The reaction from myself told me CLEARLY that I wasn’t doing this movement at all. Not sure how to describe this sensation accurately but, if you have ever used a power drill to drill a hole through metal and the drill bit binds up and starts wrapping up your hand, it’s actually hard to let go because the direction of the rotating drill is forcing your hand to grip even if you are letting it loose. Well, if you let go of having a hard clamp down grip on the club handle and let it free flow through that swing whip, because of how the pulling force of the club is interacting with the angle of your wrist, that handle naturally bites into your hand so a looser grip actually allows it to whip like a rocket when executing that upward motion. That’s the best I can compare it to something similar feeling. That was seriously cool to feel and DAMN does it add yards. After getting that low hands move down pretty consistent, I was no joke adding 15- 25 yards on each club with the same relative effort!! Longer the club, the more yards added. I have to re-measure my distances!! I’m definitely NOT giving up that adjustment in the swing because it also created incredibly predictable ball flight and direction. It feels like the club head is moving forward completely square to the ball for a VERY long stretch before and after the strike. Very interesting feel and extremely effective explanation by you of how to get there. Big thanks for that one my friend. 👍🏻😎👍🏻

      I use a 58' lob wedge, 54' sand wedge, pitching wedge & sometimes 8 iron. Practicing from the rough, the fringe/apron/collar, and the fairway will give you an idea how to play a given situation. A friend who caddied for 16yrs on the pro tour said get the ball on the green as soon as possible. I usually pitch with the lob, sand & pitching wedge, but will chip with the 8 iron, pitch & sand wedge. Try to make the same length stroke/swing & make notes how far each will run using a low or high trajectory on a practice green as well as landing each halfway to the hole. Here's a video of Phil Mickelson's chipping thoughts ruclips.net/video/IvmHU5Hcs2k/видео.html. Hope that helps.
