O'Reilly's house brand is manufactured by Omni oil out of shreveport louisiana.. Napa is Valvoline manufactured by Ashland... Amazon basics is the same as supertech.. Warren... It is great oil and will do the job!!
I pinned you to the top because I am totally happy to make sure everyone is getting the correct information if someone knows better. I don’t remember why I thought all or most house brands were coming from Warren, but either way, the oil is good and significantly cheaper. If I had to blame someone it would be Scotty Kilmer as I feel like I recall him talking about how most of the house brand oils are coming from Warren. Either way, thanks for the comment!
@@DereksWorkshopAndProjects I gotta tell you, when I see Napa synthetic oil on sale for around 15.50 or so and I know it's made by Valvoline (it's written on the jugs) I figure there's NO reason to buy anything else. I have also considered doing the supertech thing for oil but I just can't do it! Not that I have a problem with supertech oil, but for years I've used Valvoline and can't just justify getting supertech to save a buck per big jug. I might be switching to the supertech filters tho....especially for the old f-150. For the brand new car? I'll be using oem from the dealership for the 1st 36k miles!
I totally understand man! Who says “I put Warren Petroleum Products in my car” or says “my grandpa ran WPP for his whole life and swore by the stuff”? No one says that. Valvoline is a good, highly reputable brand for a reason. I guess my reasoning for still going with Supertech is that I never have to watch for the sales, any time I need oil I walk into Walmart and buy it at an even lower price than anyone will put theirs on sale for, and on top of that, even if it’s a slightly lower quality oil, it’s still a great oil. With that being said, there is nothing wrong with spending a few extra bucks knowing you have a high quality name brand oil if that’s what you wanna do. I can’t blame ya at all.
As an employee of Warren Distribution Inc. for 18 yrs now, i can tell you your right on. Wal-mart gives us awards and their business every year because we make the best for the least. Personally, i think Warren should charge more for their product but our loss is your gain.
Funny how I've responded to oil change topics over 30 years. As you stated the secret to engine longevity is frequent oil and filter changes. So many videos slam certain brands of filters especially Fram filters. I can only say all of the big off brands { walmart, oreilly} are made by big companies. I just buy what's on sale including Fram and Supertech and change my oil somewhere between 5 to 7K ( I used to do it every 3000 miles before}. I've had over 30 cars none having any oil related problems or engine issues.
I’m a truck driver, I have delivered oil to Walmart Distribution Centers. I pick it up at the Roxanna Illinois refinery. Literally every petroleum brand of oil comes out of that refinery. With the exception of Synthetics. Same with gasoline and diesel, it all comes from the same refinery.
I tried Walmart oil vs Castrol Magnatec on my Honda with a maintenance minder and I hit 30% faster on the Supertech oil by 500 miles. For $4 less, Supertech is a good value.
You can also get a 12 quart box of fully synthetic Supertech for around $36. It’s like a box o wine. Oil is in a large plastic bag within, and has a little spigot with valve that pops out. I just keep it on my shelf and fill my oil jug when needed. $3 a quart is a steal!
Change your oil every 5-7k, change the filter and use whatever it says on the filler cap and you'll NEVER have an issue with any oil you buy. It's just up to you how much all that packaging and support for race teams you want to add....
@@anthonymarino4260 With modern engines that rely on oil pressure to make variable timing work and the crappy way they have executed (Ford 3 valve engines, GM s early 3.6, all Chrysler engines) the 3000 mile oil change is still the rule.
I used to buy Supertec because of Project Farm and saw how good it was and that Warren makes 90 percent of all the oils anyway. The only reason I changed from Supertec to Costco oil was the price when I can buy 2 5qt jugs for 22.99 on sale. At that price I get one 5qt jug for 11.49 and guess who makes the Costco brand, you guessed it Warren. 11.49 per 5qts equals 2.29 per qt. There is no contest.
I used to be an Amsoil and a Mobil 1 fanboy, but Super Tech is my go-to oil now as it's good enough for my normal everyday application. I still use specially oils for certain high output applications though.
It's like buying gasoline. It ALL comes from the same distribution center in your area. The only differences are the additive packages which make little to no difference anyhow. My SIL is a "bomb" hauler and delivers all over the state to all sorts of stations. Same truck, same stuff....
Oil and oil filters are consumables and it doesn’t matter, if you service your car regularly you don’t need to focus on brand just as long as the oil meets the service specifications of your car, if you don’t have extended service intervals any oil filter will work fine.
Agree with you both, I’ve been running the high mileage super tech in my wife’s 2007, at the recommended oil change of 5K, it’s still clean. Toyota RAV4 V6 with 160K.
When i got my civic si I noticed oil consumption after ~1k miles after oil change(not alot, vtec will consume oil just slightly), experimented with different brands. Idk why but supertech seems to last the longest before i have to add a bit. Roughly 50k miles of ST oil changes now and still runs great!
I just changed to ST 10-40 motorcycle oil in my Mean Streak and even after only riding it for less than 50 miles, I'm sold. It's quieter and shifts so much better.
SuperTech MP filters are quite good and just a half step below Mobil1 for half the price. I’m talking about the MP not the ST. You might want to check out “Whip City Wrencher’s” review on the SuperTech MP vs Mobil1 filters. ruclips.net/video/a_8tuFadrnM/видео.htmlsi=Yu7OhESe7q4RHTzN
The only way i'd buy the expensive name brand synthetic oils is if I was using it on high performance cars or work trucks that are put to work. Supertech is badass i've been using them on our commuter cars for over 100k miles combined. No issues and the oil is never dirty after changes, I change the oil for both cars every 10k miles as well. It's worked so well I have been contemplating using it on my Subaru BRZ which I constantly race and drift on the track that's how much I trust this oil.
That’s awesome man! Thanks for the sharing. Every 10k miles? I usually change it about every 5k miles on my cars. 3k just seems to often to me. Why did you decide 10k miles was the key number? If I can stretch the oil that long, even better!
Yeah the reality for most of us is we rarely keep a car until catastrophic engine failure. Usually you end up with a repair that exceeds the value of the car and get rid of it or have an untimely accident. So spending top dollar on oil one can easily argue is a waste. Super tech is more than competitive and other top oils that outperform it don't do it by a large enough margin
I'd also like to mention, Supertech brake fluid, transmission fluid, gear oil and coolant are also all excellent. I've used all of these for well over a decade in numerous vehicles with absolutely no issues whatsoever.
Thanks to Mobil buying up Warren Distrabution the price on SuperTech Oil has gone up to the point where Mobil1 and SuperTech are almost the same price....(SuperTech being the same oil as Mobil1, it´s just a different package). It looks like Amazon is discontinuing it´s Amazon Basic Oil which is Mobil1 in another bottle. It is getting tough finding inexpensive oil now days.
Nice video. I started using the Supertech dino oil/filter on my 1997 Camry when it was new. The engine was still in great condition when I sold the car at 230k miles 9 years ago. Since then I have been using Supertech synthetic oil/filters on all my cars. I see no difference in performance than with other brands. The key is to follow the manufacturers' recommended interval/weight for oil/filter change.
Purchased a 2010 Kia Sportage 2.7 ltr 5 years ago in 2016 with 291,000 klms on it . Have been using Super Tech full synthetic 5W30 since in all oil changes at 10,000 klm intervals . Vehicle presently has 571,000 klm on it and no signs of slowing down. Never have to add between changes also . Great product !
To the best of my understanding, you don't need high mileage oil unless your engine seals are leaking oil or your engine is burning oil regardless of what the odometer says.
I am not saying you're wrong but I understood that it was to prevent the seals of leaking. It is a preventative maintenance thing instead of a repair thing... Maybe I need to put together a video on that and do some research.
My 2011 Toyota Camry LE made it to 155000 miles , until totaled . Using Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 0W20 and Mobil 1 / Amsoil filter every 7000 miles . Not having to add any oil between changes .
@@DereksWorkshopAndProjects I think you'll find contradictory information online. Some say it's okay to use HMO when the car is new and others say to avoid it. It's just a matter of what sounds more logical to the customer. Personally I've never used it and plan to never use it. I've put over 200,000 miles on a few cars and never had leaking seals or oil consumption problems.
I have 320k miles on a abused 2014 1.2L Chevy Spark. Almost always continuously over 4K rpm on hwy. still purrs like a new Honda. I change my oil at 5K most times. I like the full syn for no extra money. But frequent changes saves all engines. I still get 42 mpg on highway.
I'm glad to see no one has had any problems with this oil but I'm still a sceptic. I used this stuff in my lawn mower. I figured it's just a lawn mower but the day I changed the oil I started by heating it up by running the mower for a little while and when I drained it it seemed excessively foamy! The stuff just didn't look right! Since then I've used Walmart's other cheap oil, Quaker State. I recommend you do the same. I used QS years ago in a car that I put 220,000 miles on and never had a oil related problem with. If not for the scarcity of QS 5-20w oil back when I bought my current car I would have continued using QS. Point here is that it's cheap and good oil and a alternative to Walmart brand oil which is of questionable quality in my opinion. By the way current oil being used is Valvoline, conventional for the first 125,000 miles and now High Mileage Oil. Over the years I've used them all and have always done my own oil changes. They are all good oils if you do your changes on time and I wouldn't hesitate to use another brand for the life of my next vehicle, but the only thing I wouldn't use again in ANYTHING is Walmart branded oil!! You've been warned!
@@DereksWorkshopAndProjects I'll check it out. No matter what they say I'm sticking to my gut feeling based on what I saw but never the less the video should be interesting. Thx 😁
Had an 85 blazer with the small v6 in 2000 , was using 10-30 super tech had a timing chain fail when I pulled it apart it was gummy , sticky , with lots of black score marks on the timing gear and block . Went back to q.s. 10 30 no problems . Had a 2001 civic gave it to a collage student at 350k only used 5-20 then 10-30 after 200k, only oil ever put in that civic was Quaker state . Don't tell me how good super tech is show me !
I used to use QS years ago, it's a good oil and did a good job of cleaning out the engine on my first car that I bought used with 60,000 miles on it. I drove that thing till it had 220,000 miles on it! Engine never failed on me. I would have continued using QS but 5-20 in QS wasn't very widely available when I bought my current car so I choose Valvoline instead, everyone had it. Now a days Walmarts are everywhere and they carry QS and it's the cheapest priced oil next to ST. I wouldn't hesitate to go back to QS in my next new car.
I began using valvoline every six months but after listning to oilers at work I switched to amssoil every year but when it got to 8 a guart I went to mobil one on my 2011 titan I recently bought a 2114 2.0 awd lincoln I see no reason not to run walmart full synthetic in it .
For sure, I know everyone says Amsoil is the best, and it probably is but I don't believe that it's going to be the difference in a vehicle making it to 200k to 300k miles.
I always use Supertech oil and the cheapest filter I can find. It is excellent oil and the filters are great. You oil bypass lets the oil flow thru the center of the filter till it warms up and is thin enough to flow thru the filter media. So your oil doesn't get filtered on startup. Change your oil and save money. Use the cheapest filter it only catches the big particles anyways. I run full synthetic for 15,000 miles. Never had a problem.
It's very rare to have oil issues if changed regularly. That's it. All engine issues I have seen were due to abuse of one sort or another. Remember that the oil now is much better than the old days like the 70s.
Just as good as the big brands, the only reason I buy Valvoline is without supporting the big boys we wouldn’t have the incredible advancements, 20k oil, high mileage oil etc. I would not hesitate to use Supertech in any of my vehicles.
I don't think I would ever go 20,000 miles before an oil change unless I was driving close to 100% highway miles. Actually we did that once on a 2016 Mazda 6. We went on a six week road trip driving close to 12,000 miles in six weeks. The computer on the vehicle still said the oil was okay at 20,000 miles, but that was an unusual circumstance for us.
I bought a new 2011 Nissan Altima and I have always used Walmart for my oil changes. Never a problem. It is now 2021 and I still have my 2011 Altima. (130,00 miles on it)
We have SuperTech Oil too in Canada. I discovered this brand a year ago and it's an amazing stuff for the price. A 5 liters jug of synthetic Supertech is 19.97$ at full price but often in sales at 17.47$ or 14.97$. Amazing price for good synthetic oil. Here in Canada, we have Canadian Tire store and even the house brand (Motomaster, manufactured by Shell) doesnt have good price like that for the 5 liters synthetic at 52.99$ but sometimes in sales at like 24.99$. Motomaster Conventional 5 liters is 27.99$ (often in sales at 13.99$) and conventional SuperTech 5 liters is 13.97$ (Never on sales probably because it's already super cheap and people must buy the synthetic for few dollars more.) Unfortunately, we only have 5w20, 5w30 and 5w40 in 5 liters synthetic but I recently saw 0w20 in 1 quart bottle so maybe we'll gonna have it later in 5 liters jug. There is no high mileage conventional/high mileage synthetic as well, only conventional/synthetic and we don't have SuperTech oil filter either. Sorry for my english🤷♂️
No problem on the English! You did great! I rub shoulders with A LOT of French Canadians at my regular job so I am no stranger to it! (I believe that is how to refer to French speaking Canadians so forgive me if I am wrong). Sounds like your oil is quite a bit more expensive than it is here in the states. I assume those are Canadian dollars and I don't know how American dollars compare to Canadian dollars but it does some more expensive. Either way, interesting to read what it costs up there. Thanks for sharing!
I also started using all the super tech stuff years ago after I had read all the good reviews they are made by the name brand guys anyway as far as oil I always use the supertech synthetic and have had zero issues
I personally don't use it but I do know when I was a kid growing up my dad got well over 300k on a 96 Chevy s10 truck with regular super tech oil from Walmart.the body was completely falling apart but the engine still fired up an ran.
Good choice on the oil. Did my own oil change for the first time and used Super Tech advanced full synthetic 20,000 mile 5W-20 with Mobil 1 oil filter in a 2021 Ford EcoSport AWD. Highline Warren LLC oil is just as good when changed regularly. Actually, when it comes to boron levels...it's better than most. I recently stepped up one grade in viscosity and got Meijer brand. It's the very same as SuperTech synthetic. Two 5 quart jugs. One 5W-30 for $21 and a 10W-30 for half off. I couldn't pass that up. For me, that's a whole year of oil with the amount of miles I drive. After the sale, it's now a bit over $23 a jug. For that money, I could get Quaker State Ultimate Protection synthetic at Walmart. It doesn't quite have the boron the Warren oil has, but it has more molybdenum for sure.
Totally agree with you man that’s all I stock up with now it’s supertech, I do the same thing you do is buy a 12 pack 5W 30 and 0W 20 is all I have. I just signed up with Costco and I purchase the kirkland oil and it’s a same thing as Supertech. I had a 2005 Toyota corolla XRS with 290k miles and ran it was supertech. Now I have a 2019 civic type R and that’s all I put in it is supertech and kirkland
I use Napa full synthetic.. I get the 5 quart for 13$ ... formerly used Mobil 1 .. personally I feel the extra money I spent for Mobil 1 was for marketing....
I've used Supertech FS oil in my 2005 civic for like 3 years now, and I change it every 9-10k miles. I've put about 50k miles on that car. Recently I opened up my engine to do a timing belt, and the engine was very clean. All the rockers and camshaft were nice and silver, not even that slightly gold tarnish they sometimes get. I believe that the most important thing is actually changing the oil, with the brand having a negligible impact. Even cheap conventional oil would work fine for 90% of the people with regular maintenance, whereas the most expensive synthetic oils wouldn't work if the engine is neglected.
Late to the game here, but if you have a Rural King near you. You can pick up their 5 quart house brand of full synthetic oil (also made by Warren) for less than $10.
You're the 3rd or 4th person to mention that. I'd LOVE a Rural King near me but I'm in the southwest and I don't think we have them within 3-4 states of where I am. Yup, closest one to me is in Missouri, which is a state I'd really like to live in!
Supertech filters are made exactly the same way as the almighty Wix. I run the oil and filters on my boats, trucks and racecar without even a single issue.
Super tech is awesome. I've used it many times no issues. I just spend the few extra bucks and go with Mobil 1. Same shit but it's atleast brand name. As long as your changing your oil on time, any synthetic does the trick.
Walmart Super Tech has all the fancy numbers and letters as the big names oil companies. You want to pay more for endorsements and pretty bottles it’s your money. Clean oil is best oil. Change oil and filter every 5,000 miles. Hey what do I know. Fifty five years of working on cars. 😁
Super tech are Champion lab, ac Delco are repackaged Frams. Purolator are a step above both and also make Bosch. Wix is Napa Gold and at the top of the heap.
I do the same. Once I found out that the Walmart products we're just as good if not better than most of what you'll find elsewhere at a much higher price, it's a no-brainer. Even a lot of their other super tech fluids like lubricant, brake cleaner etc is just as good at 25% to 100% less on your cost. The business I used to have I used a lot of spray lubricant like WD-40 and found that the Walmart brand is actually slightly better at about half the cost.
@@njsongwriter Certainly, you don't go to give away Fridays at Walmart? They hold him the fifth Friday in February every year. Okay, you're right I was looking at it as the products costing $25 to 100% more for brand names, but I phrased it as less and you're right.
My father did only walmart oil changes on his 94 Silverado he bought used in 97 ,he sold it 06 250k miles and only then it needed a rebuild..regular 10w40 no blend no synthetic
Super impressed by their high-mileage oil specs. Has the same tbn as amsoil oe. Better than average on calcium and magnesium (to prevent low speed pre ignition) and a very robust anti wear package. For off the shelf products it’s very similar to Mobil 1 hi mile but $7 cheaper per 5qt jug. I’m not one to go cheaper but if a cheaper product offers very similar oil as bigger names? It’s a no brainer imo.
Dexos Certified! That's what it's all about. As long as it's got that logo on it, buy it regardless of whether it's a store brand. In other words, buy Supertech! I love the Supertech stuff as well. I suspect their transmission fluids are also very good. Most of my brake cleaner, lubricant, carb cleaner, etc. is also Supertech.
Mine is like a small super center, it doesn’t have tires and auto and stuff. But I think you’re right. Most Walmart’s probably do. I just take it to oriellys
I always use OEM oil filters from the car maker, on the theory that the flow characteristics are optimal for their engines. Otherwise Walmart products are very good.
Been using Supertech on my three cars for years. Never a problem. I dont even go to Walmart. Order on line, it shows up on my doorstep. Free delivery. You didnt calculate the couple of dollars you save on gas. What's not to like?
@@DereksWorkshopAndProjects All you have to do is spend a minimum of $35 for free shipping. Order two 5 gallon jugs and a tube of toothpaste and you're there. Walmart delivers usually in two days. They are trying hard to compete with Amazon.
People also used to similarly doubt Western Auto oil, but I used it for years when I was commuting to work and put 305,000 miles on my Omni until it caught on fire one day.
I have been using Walmart super tec high Milage full synthetic oil along with their filters, since they have been available. I do change oil at 5000 mile intervals. Vehicles run great not a problem I have noticed. I'm not going to switch it up now.
I change my cars oil as well as my dads and sisters, my dad always says that I'm gonna ruin my engine by using this cheap oil , I've never had a problem
I have people tell me all the time that I must not like my car if I put supertech oil in it. And to those people I say all engine oils that are sold have to conform to certain API standards. I'm not saying that all engine oils are created equal, but none of them should damage a vehicle.
Also Walmart's supertech brand is made by Warren oil company, it's just re labeled in the factory as supertech. Walmart's batteries are made by johnson controls who ships to other aftermarket retailers like AutoZone. And Walmart's tires are made by Goodyear.
Good to know. And definitely agree with you. The way I see it... Maybe you use Supertech and your cars engine makes it to lets just say 220,000 miles. Maybe you use AMS Oil or Lucas premium full synthetic oils, that same engine maybe makes it to 230,000 miles. But at probably $60-$70 an oil change vs. $20 for Supertech. If you change oil every 5,000 miles, even 10,000 miles that is some significant savings.
@@DereksWorkshopAndProjects Amsoil is 100% synthetic, not ‘full’. You can go 15k miles and have the same viscosity as when you put it in, generally speaking. You spend more on latte’s and fishing lures then your second biggest depreciating asset, life blood of your engine. For me, it is strictly Amsoil and I’ll never go back. Actually makes the engines in my vehicles run better, smoother, better acceleration, quiets the engine down. And that is not placebo.
Been using it in our alky injected BBC for years 930 hp 8000 rpm thru the traps change after 24 runs. Ten years and all bearing look great at rebuilds every two years. We can buy any oil we want. Then we learned from an employee fron the oil manufacture about profit for the share holders.
....got me a chevy 5.7 short block....built/assembled the rest....broke it in with quality conventional oil with the lucas additives...from second oil change at every 3000 miles or once a month up until now its been walmart full synthetic oil with a wix filter...been giving it hell for 50,000 miles now...nuff said:)
My 07 Corolla is at 206,000 miles on Supertech conventional. Doesn't use any oil between 5000 mile changes. I use Supertech synthetic in my other vehicles and no problems with any of them.
Dude we had the same car with essentially the same mileage but right after I made this video we got rear-ended and it was totaled. Seriously great car. Thanks for watching.
@@DereksWorkshopAndProjects Well it hasn't been the greatest car. The clock works when it wants to, lol. Seriously, it has been the most dependable car I've ever owned.
Lol you got me for a second! The only thing I ever had to do to mine was replace the exhaust manifold in 75,000 miles. That’s buying it at 130,000 miles. Best car ever.
the Walmart Brand is fine, especially the Synthetic I ran it in my car and it ran quiet and ran well even during hot summer 100 degree days, the only problem is I do have a lot of oil burn off since my engine is a high compression GDI engine so I ended up switching to castro, and it ran just as well. There is nothing wrong with the Supertech oil, I do not blame the oil burn off issue, its more because of my small type of engine.
Amsoil is the ticket. It is 100% synthetic oil. The rest even though they say ‘full’ synthetic, it is a marketing term. It is just a blend. You get what you pay for.
I've seen the testing done by the Project Farm channel here on RUclips. As a result I have full confidence that Super Tech full synthetic oil is all I need especially after I've had my oil analyzed.
Super tech oil filter st10060for f150 econobust 3.5 was smaller than the frame filter so I used Fram but supertec oil. Use in my roto tiller and mowers.
Dude this is one of the reasons I love doing RUclips. Great community. As for 320k miles on the Prius, thats awesome dude. I am a Toyota guy myself. The 07 Corolla I talked about in this video was hit and totaled about a week after this video. There is pictures in the community section on my channel page. Anyway, we replaced it with a 2012 Camry with 118,000 miles. I'd like to get a Tundra one day when the 04 Silverado dies. Toyota's are by far the most reliable and quality made cars on the road these days. Thanks for watching and for your comment dude!
I agree , for the people that change oil once a year or so , let them do whatever they want but for myself, changing oil once a month I'm happy with super tech but they did stop caring conventional oil , don't know why , WAL -MART bring it back , what's up with that ? When I put synthetic I ended up with a grip of problems .
@@DereksWorkshopAndProjects the only issue i have is the lack of an obvious pressure release valve that all other filters have. the valve that opens to allow oil flow if the filter media becomes restrictive, like on cold mornings when the oil is thicker, the pressure would push the valve open to allow oil to flow until it warms up such that it's able to pass through the filter media. if my vehicle used cartridge filters then i would absolutely buy the super tech and save money because the filter media itself is good.
I’ve been using supertech for years here in Canada, but I can’t seem to find their filters here. So I use Napa gold filters in pair with this money saving oil.
Love the oil. The filters not so much. I'll stick with the $3.97 Motorcraft FL820S they sell for my Crown Victoria. No dry start ups with the Motorcraft. They have a silicone anti drainback valve, the Super Tech filters don't. I have been using Super Tech full synthetic oil for 20 years and have never had an oil related issue on any of my vehicles and have saved big money over the other brands of oil.
I am fully satisfied with it so far. 20 years is a pretty good testimony to it's effectiveness. The filters, I didn't even know the anti-drain-back valve was a thing. Thanks for sharing.
@@DereksWorkshopAndProjects The nitrile rubber valves don't stand up to heat and are stiff as a board in the cold. That is one thing that really matters with oil filters, no matter which brand.
I'm really thinking about using ST 0w20 in my Tacoma. I was always a Castrol GTX fan boy before owning a diesel for over a decade and then using Rotella in that. Now I'm back to gas. Castrol Magnatec 0w20 is $19.99 at Walmart for 5qt and ST is under $16. Is the brand really worth that much more? Not sure if they even have a ST oil filter but Walmart has the Toyota filters in stock.
I don't believe the cheap oil is as good. I buy Castrol for only a few dollars more, total cost. I used to use Walmart oil until I opened my engine up, and saw what I considered to be a lot of oxidation (i.e. tarnishing) on the parts. You get what you pay for; don't kid yourself.
I used that ST in a lawn mower one time. When I drained it the stuff was excessively foamy looking, it just didn't look right! My cheap go to oil for the lawn mower and generator is Quaker State now. It's sold at Walmart also.
As of today Walmart sell Mobil 1 5w30 5 quarts 3 pack for $49, I bought three 3 packs just in case the deal goes away, it turned out to be $18 after tax for each 5 quarts jug.
In Canada Mobil 1 large jugs that’s like 5 US Qts cost $33 CDN including taxes. Now that’s with 45% off but that discount comes every where 2-3 weeks so you can stock up
Super tech is a leading brand name oil, Walmart takes bids for there oil, usually every 3 years it will change, normally Walmart brand be next to it's brand name it's using on shelf
My girlfriend runs Amsoil Signature in her 2.0L turbo should be able to run 10,000 mile oil changes. My 97 Suburban was 17,000 mile oil changes with Amsoil with 200,000 miles on the motor. That's why I'm an Amsoil Dealer.
I’m all in for SuperTech oil ! But not their filters. I mean , think about it. For $2 more you can get a fully synthetic filter , the Fram Ultra Synthetic. Great filtering capacity and very good flow rate. SuperTech 5 quart jug : $20 Fram Ultra synthetic. : $8.47 Grand total : less than $30 And I change it myself at 68 yrs of age. Hey , I always like to save money!
No need to spend more. I have been changing my own oil on all our vehicles past 20yrs I have always bought the best oil for the money(on sale etc) Last two years it has been SuperTech synthetic(hands down) Supertech filters now have gone up in quality, and I have made the switch!(half price of a comparable Fram.
I’ve used super tech in my 2015 Ram1500 3.6 pentstar and it runs great and now at 81,000 miles.I even put the differential fluid super tech in it also and it runs smooth .
@@DereksWorkshopAndProjects they do make a lot of house brands and have there own line such as mag1 and Lubraguard amongst others!!
@@DereksWorkshopAndProjects i"d think less of you for listening to kilmer than i would for using a certain brand of motor oil.
As an employee of Warren Distribution Inc. for 18 yrs now, i can tell you your right on. Wal-mart gives us awards and their business every year because we make the best for the least. Personally, i think Warren should charge more for their product but our loss is your gain.
Cool to hear from an employee from there. As far as I can tell, it is a good product. Thanks for watching.
I just bought Walmart's Super Tech Full Syn 5W-30 oil in bulk - 12 quarts for $29.86 with free delivery. That's
They make Costco Kirkland too. Farm products tested a lot of oil brands
You just need to let us know if Wal-Mart or Amazon leave Warren and go to another source (China). That is when we need to worry.
If you charge more then very simply the majority would go somewhere else...
I use the supertech stuff from time to time. No problems. Key is changing your oil at recommended intervals, brand of oil is on the person.
Agreed! Thanks for watching.
I've been using Supertech full synthetic oil and ST filters for years! Have never had a problem. Why pay more, right? Great review!
Thanks! I couldn’t agree more!
I get super tech oil but not super tech filters ac delco filters only $3.97
@@zacharygoeden1282 they are same filters just re-branded
I tried Walmart oil vs Castrol Magnatec on my Honda with a maintenance minder and I hit 30% faster on the Supertech oil by 500 miles. For $4 less, Supertech is a good value.
I’ve personally used Supertech products for many years now and I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt that their engine oils are fantastic.
That is exactly what I am finding!
Project farm does comparisons, and super tech and Amazon basics are up there in quality with mobil1
Kirkland brand at Costco is made by Warren Oil. 2 five quart jugs for 23.95 with the taxes.
Good deal. I don't have a Costco within a 3 hour drive from me but I do have a Wal-Mart 10 minutes away haha. Warren products are solid.
You can also get a 12 quart box of fully synthetic Supertech for around $36. It’s like a box o wine. Oil is in a large plastic bag within, and has a little spigot with valve that pops out. I just keep it on my shelf and fill my oil jug when needed. $3 a quart is a steal!
I didn’t know that, I’m gonna look them up next time I need more!
Change your oil every 5-7k, change the filter and use whatever it says on the filler cap and you'll NEVER have an issue with any oil you buy. It's just up to you how much all that packaging and support for race teams you want to add....
I find this to be true myself. Thanks for watching!

Only an oil analysis could help you determine that for sure.
I used SuperTech oil and filters including cheapest Fram oil filters over 20 years on many cars with no issue...just change on time/mileage.
Yup, thank for watching!
Sounds like a good way to go!
we are about the same
Most brand names your paying for their commercials and adds
And race car sponsorships.
BINGO!
FUCK YEAH!
Truth . Mobil 1 is over rated and did not do well in the bearing friction test from Project Farm in RUclips.
Thanks for the comment. Thats about what the conclusion I have come up with.
Agree with you both, I’ve been running the high mileage super tech in my wife’s 2007, at the recommended oil change of 5K, it’s still clean. Toyota RAV4 V6 with 160K.
That's bull shit
Dont by fram filters
Mater fact don't by any of there shit
When i got my civic si I noticed oil consumption after ~1k miles after oil change(not alot, vtec will consume oil just slightly), experimented with different brands. Idk why but supertech seems to last the longest before i have to add a bit. Roughly 50k miles of ST oil changes now and still runs great!
I just changed to ST 10-40 motorcycle oil in my Mean Streak and even after only riding it for less than 50 miles, I'm sold. It's quieter and shifts so much better.
Same for me. '03 Honda 919.
A 5 quart jug of fully synthetic here is $14.95. The filters are $3. The oil is Warren, the filters are champion labs.
It's definitely a good value
And made in the USA.
Problem is ‘fully synthetic’ is just marketing. It is not fully synthetic. It is still a blend.
The only 100% synthetic oil worth a dime is Amsoil. Period.
I just bought Walmart's Super Tech Full Syn 5W-30 oil in bulk - 12 quarts for $29.86 with free delivery. That's
Same dude. Cheapest batteries at Walmart that work as good as any other.
I have been using Supertech brand for 16 years now. Never had a problem.
It's good stuff I think...
Same, not one issue with the oil or the filters....solid stuff for a decent price.
My only concern is the quality of the oil filters. The Whip City Wrencher opens most brands up, and the Super Tech filters don't impress me much.
SuperTech MP filters are quite good and just a half step below Mobil1 for half the price.
I’m talking about the MP not the ST.

I use the break parts cleaner, carburator cleaner, and starting fluid all the time. Good stuff for the price.
I use the ST oil. Only reason I pay extra for the Fram oil filters is they have the grip that makes them easy to hand tighten.
I agree with the hand tighten,
But!!!

I agree, thanks for watching/commenting.
Can't kill a Toyota!

I think you'll find contradictory information online.
You need to go watch the Project Farm videos with Super Tech oil in them if you haven't yet. Not the best oil but it out performs it's price I think!
@@DereksWorkshopAndProjects I'll check it out. No matter what they say I'm sticking to my gut feeling based on what I saw but never the less the video should be interesting. Thx 😁
Good Job!... Super Tech Synthetic is Mobil 1...& Super Tech Oil Filters are the same as K&N & the Air Filters are comparable to AC Delco
I began using valvoline every six months but after listning to oilers at work I switched to amssoil every year but when it got to 8 a guart I went to mobil one on my 2011 titan I recently bought a 2114 2.0 awd lincoln I see no reason not to run walmart full synthetic in it
.
Great point!
(130,00 miles on it)
That's impressive for what I know about Nissans (of course its the transmissions I believe have the problems, not the engines).
I don't trust anyone to change my oil except me.

I have been using ST products for YEARS in all my cars and motorcycles. Never had an issue. Excellent products.

@@DereksWorkshopAndProjects also gotta pay for that NASCAR sponsorship when using Mobil 1
Change sooner for cleaner rings in the long term (that’s your engine)
Late to the game here, but if you have a Rural King near you. You can pick up their 5 quart house brand of full synthetic oil (also made by Warren) for less than $10.
You're the 3rd or 4th person to mention that. I'd LOVE a Rural King near me but I'm in the southwest and I don't think we have them within 3-4 states of where I am. Yup, closest one to me is in Missouri, which is a state I'd really like to live in!
Supertech filters are made exactly the same way as the almighty Wix. I run the oil and filters on my boats, trucks and racecar without even a single issue.

I bet they are a Fram or Purolator just repainted.
Yep
100% less would make it free... Don't know how you're figuring...?

That is what a lot of guys have said.
It could be but I kind of doubt it it's probably more of a case of lowest bidder
I understand that the flow rate of K&N filters is comparable to Toyota OEM. I also understand that Purolator Boss filter are more restrictive.

I bought a 12 qt big box of supertech synthetic 5w-30 for $30.88 . It's a better deal than the jugs by a few dollars.
How do you find that deal?
@@DereksWorkshopAndProjects They just have them stocked in my local Walmart. They probably sell them online too.
I just bought Walmart's Super Tech Full Syn 5W-30 oil in bulk - 12 quarts for $29.86 with free delivery. That's
True!
Awesome! I get what you mean, thanks for sharing your experience and thanks for watching.
Maybe switch to Pennzoil Ultra Platinum as it had been said it has a low evaporation rate .
Amsoil is the ticket. It is 100% synthetic oil. The rest even though they say ‘full’ synthetic, it is a marketing term. It is just a blend. You get what you pay for.
With GDI and a turbo I would likely use Amsoil or Pennzoil Ulta Platinum for their low volatility ratings.
I have a newer Lexus.
I have no problem with the Supertech products.
Synthetic oil is synthetic oil, period.
Saves money!
Well, actually there is a difference between full synthetic and 100% synthetic.
I use it for my 07 Prius 320k mile.
No problima 👍
@Trifon Passalis never changed the HV battery
Still have the original one.
I had to replace the 12v auxiliary battery only.
@Trifon Passalis u r welcome 👍
@@DereksWorkshopAndProjects you are welcome my friend!
Keep up the good work!
Guy will be surprised! The ultimate proof of quality!!!
the oil is fine- but the 10060 filter has no pressure relief valve if you look inside, so i don't use the filters. cartridge filters would be ok.
I'v heard other people say to skip on the filters too.
Walmart doesn’t sell Super tech oil filters in Canada unfortunately
I'm really thinking about using ST 0w20 in my Tacoma. I was always a Castrol GTX fan boy before owning a diesel for over a decade and then using Rotella in that. Now I'm back to gas. Castrol Magnatec 0w20 is $19.99 at Walmart for 5qt and ST is under $16. Is the brand really worth that much more? Not sure if they even have a ST oil filter but Walmart has the Toyota filters in stock.
I use Supertech every time in my 2006 civic, I've never had an issue for $15 a jug totally satisfied
Now that’s with 45% off but that discount comes every where 2-3 weeks so you can stock up
Sounds like a good deal.
Super tech is a leading brand name oil, Walmart takes bids for there oil, usually every 3 years it will change, normally Walmart brand be next to it's brand name it's using on shelf
Pretty sure SuperTech has been with WalMart for years and years and is the generic house brand of automotive fluids and oils. Thanks for watching.
My girlfriend runs Amsoil Signature in her 2.0L turbo should be able to run 10,000 mile oil changes. My 97 Suburban was 17,000 mile oil changes with Amsoil with 200,000 miles on the motor. That's why I'm an Amsoil Dealer.
Supertech introduced an advanced full synthetic that can run up to 20k. The two vehicles you mentioned would do the exact same thing using ST.
I’m exactly like you bro! Walmart SuperTech is awesome!! I have several cars to maintain with our big family so saving money is a must!
It’s good oil for a good price man!
I’m all in for SuperTech oil !
But not their filters.
I mean , think about it.
For $2 more you can get a fully synthetic filter , the Fram Ultra Synthetic.
Great filtering capacity and very good flow rate.
SuperTech 5 quart jug : $20
Fram Ultra synthetic. : $8.47
Grand total : less than $30
And I change it myself at 68 yrs of age.
Hey , I always like to save money!
No need to spend more.
I have been changing my own oil on all our vehicles past 20yrs
I have always bought the best oil for the money(on sale etc)
Last two years it has been SuperTech synthetic(hands down)
Supertech filters now have gone up in quality, and I have made the switch!(half price of a comparable Fram.
Thanks for sharing and watching! Agreed!
Good purchasing power good prices.
I stick to pennzoil platinum 5w20 for my 2016 f150, but everything else gets ST oil with a motorcraft or ST filter
I’ve used super tech in my 2015 Ram1500 3.6 pentstar and it runs great and now at 81,000 miles.I even put the differential fluid super tech in it also and it runs smooth .
Nice, thanks for sharing.
O'Reilly's MicroGard oil filters are manufactured by WIx and are roughly equivalent to a NAPA Silver oil filter...
Good to know!
