    Thanks for making this video, this game looks like something that’s right up my alley. I really enjoy your YES NO YES moments and then the snarky subtitles correcting you, this was a fun watch. Definitely backing this one!

    Kingdoms Reborn, Settlement Survival and Going Medieval are probably the best modern PC games in this category right now

    I really like the look of this. Reminds me a bit of Keyflower.
    I'm a little concerned though that despite my best attempts to draw a tile impartially from the bag, I'd accidentally sometimes be able to tell the shape of the tiles and so be making an informed choice on selecting one.
    I wonder if rather than have the tiles in the bag it would be better to have uniquely numbered, uniformly shaped chits which when drawn refer to a matching number on the actual tile which you'd then take from a stack.
    Maybe though it's not an issue in practice. Did you find you could tell some of the tiles by their shape as you rummaged to take one?

      if you wanted to, i think you could definitely figure out at least if it was a large or a small tile. we simply chose not to do that, reached our hands in randomly, and grabbed whatever we came across first without "analyizing" what we were feeling. If you feel that your opponents wouldn't be able to do that, they maybe do the draws for them?
      there was a thread about this on boardgamegeek, and iirc there was talk about a stretch goal to add a small deck of cards you could shuffle to pick tiles.
      of course, you don't have to put any in the bag. you could just leave them in a pile and roll a d20 (or smaller early in the game) and use that to count down the stack to the one chosen randomly :)

      @@rahdo Ah, good idea with the dice, I'd do that if I found I couldn't fairly shuffle the bag contents without kind of knowing where the large tiles had gone.
      Thanks for the reassurance, I feel a purchase coming on...

      @@rahdo The shipped version comes with small tiles all of the same shape which allows you to use those instead of the reel pieces.

    There is a beautiful game system here. Very evocative and interesting. I do worry that the early game is a little prescriptive though. I wonder if a variant could help it out.

    • @rahdo
      @rahdo  2 года назад +1

      yeah, it almost feels like you could skip the first round and have everyone start with an extra meeple. i did try to demonstrate that you don't have to rush right out and get the 2nd one (jen did pretty well for quite awhile with only 1 meep)

      @@rahdo Yeah, I appreciated that you went down another route for the video. I would say I noticed this more readily as it seems so obvious to pick up the extra worker just for 2 coins over your starting amount. I like your suggestion and also wonder if all resources could be "full" at the start of the game.

    Is there a gameplay reason you’re leaving little gaps in between the tiles? Or are you just messing with me 😂 thanks for the play through, looks great!

    • @rahdo
      @rahdo  2 года назад +2

      hehe, you don't have to, but i found it helped playability to have the gaps because the cards have no boarders in the art, so when they're right next to each other, it's hard to tell where one tile ends and another begins because they're such weird shapes :)

    This game looks neat. But the legal connection points need a graphic overhaul. They should have icons so it is easier to tell where legal connections can be made. As it stands this devolves into arguments about where the tiles can be placed.

      i can confirm with 100% assuredness that this does not happen IRL with the game in front of you on the table. the 'dots' are super clear in our experience. maybe in low light it could be a problem, but even then it's very obvous what half a length of a face is too :)

    It seems kinda fiddly.. or is it just the way the prototype works?

    • @rahdo
      @rahdo  2 года назад +2

      well it's a tile layer, seems pretty straightforward to me. not sure what you're identifying as the fiddly parts?

      Maybe it is just me but im referring to the donkey and road pieces and shifting those around to establish network for resource accessibility. It seems like u really like the game still, so im definitely keeping tabs. Thanks Rahdo

      @@rahdo I just thought players can have stocks of resources. But I realized that resources are just taken if they’re used right away.
