My name is Alicia, and had total knee replacement 4 weeks ago, and will have my scheduled therapy in 2 weeks time. I don't want to waste time., so, While scrolling on my phone I happen to see your demos on how to do exercises at home to help on my suffering of stiffness on my knee. I found it easy to follow and I can tollerate the pain. I found it helpful on my mobility. I started to do the 10 minutes exercises in bed and hopefully can walk freely without the walking aid soon. Thank you so much❤

      Hello All,
Continue with the Pt and exercises.
The flex and mobility will improve.
For me month 1 was very painful xxx
      Month 2 was better-
Now month 3 still some discomfort if I stand too much and don’t elevate my TKR leg. Exercise every day.
This bed workout 2 or 3 x a day is very helpful.
Thank you Dr Smith! Margarita ❤

Hello Dr. Samantha Smith, I've been doing these exercises. I experience buring in the inside of my knee with some of the exercises. I'm 6 weeks out, have reached 120 flexion and close to 0 extension. Is the burning sensation normal and on average, how long do patients experience this?
UPDATE: After doing these exercises, I am improving in my ROM, strength, and with far less pain. Very relieved!

    Good morning.
I've found these exercises extremely helpful starting from day 3 after my knee replacement.
Obviously I can't do them all, but that would be expected as I still have the vulcanised rubber and plaster band aid still in place.
I'm looking forward to the end of week 3 when the plasters come off and I've less restrictions allowing me to fulfill every exercise.

My knee has not been doing too bad, but the last few days it has been tight and more stiff than usual. Feel some pain run down the shin especially the side of the leg. Is this up and down normal at this point. I just realized I have slacked off on massaging the knee. Just trying to brainstorm what I could do to loosen up? Thank you! I appreciate your videos.

  • @obscurelyvague
    @obscurelyvague 8 месяцев назад +2

I had total knee replacement on my left leg some 3 and a half weeks ago as of this writing. I only watched this video in a "fast forward" way to look at the exercises. I don't think I can do most of them or yet. My knee is still stiff at 90 degrees and I had already gotten it there from 0 degrees even though it took some 3 weeks. I am not at the point of bending it past that so fast though I am working on tolerating the pain. I also had Double hip replacement last year which is a walk in the park comparatively. However Doing the leg extensions where the hip is holding the entire leg up actually strains and hurts my left hip just as much as, or at times more than my left knee which may be strange but I don't want to make my left hip hurt. also. It does not feel as if it is helping.
I have been told by a PA that I have to tolerate pain more and try harder to get my leg to bend past 90 degrees sooner.
I think that is the wrong advice and method. I feel I could cause injury. I don't think I should be comparing myself to other people\s progress and think that since others have moved their legs better at week two that I should not be moving my legs in a less effective way at week three.
I am trying to find the right physical therapist who won't have a "Make it hurt for your own good" attitude.

Hi Dr Sam. Just had a TKR-REVISION 9 days ago. This is my 6th knee surgery😔. The 1st TKR was done 19 and I had 2 MUAs in 20 and 21. I opted for a revision after battling limited ROM 75* swelling pain, SEVERE SCAR TISSUE ADHESIONS, etc for the past 4 years.
I have a wonderful Surgeon and team. I am EXCITED to report at day 9 Iam 105* ROM and I have pratically all of my extention. I honestly cannot believe it. HOWEVER, I have alot of swelling of course and stiffness. My fear is because I have this range so soon with swelling could I lose it? And that dreaded scar tissue IAM SOOOOO AFRAID OF it Coming BACK. Im having therapy at home for 2 weeks then, I will transition into out patient. Any suggestions.
Thanks so much for any responses.

My technical specialized combat training began with clearly identifying the mission result then putting together a schedule of events to accomplish that mission result. I’m having knee surgery in 4 weeks and doing my due diligence. I’ve watched you tube after you tube and none of the posters have demonstrated to me a time line of what to expect day by day month but month. Where would I go to get this?
