My name is Alicia, and had total knee replacement 4 weeks ago, and will have my scheduled therapy in 2 weeks time. I don't want to waste time., so, While scrolling on my phone I happen to see your demos on how to do exercises at home to help on my suffering of stiffness on my knee. I found it easy to follow and I can tollerate the pain. I found it helpful on my mobility. I started to do the 10 minutes exercises in bed and hopefully can walk freely without the walking aid soon. Thank you so much❤
Hello All, Continue with the Pt and exercises. The flex and mobility will improve. For me month 1 was very painful xxx Month 2 was better- Now month 3 still some discomfort if I stand too much and don’t elevate my TKR leg. Exercise every day. This bed workout 2 or 3 x a day is very helpful. Thank you Dr Smith! Margarita ❤
I am now 16 weeks post op and have just been in hospital for 5 days after manipulation and the whole period on a CPM. I improved greatly but once off the machine the stiffness set in drastically even with exercises. I don’t know what else to do, any advice would be appreciated thanks

Your videos are great, thanks for all you do! I'm 3 months post TKR on my left knee. I thought I was finally getting past all the pain and sleepless nights but for some reason the pain seems to have gotten bad again. I know that I am only 3 months post surgery so I'll keep on doing therapy and my home exercises and hopefully it gets better soon.

Hello Dr. Samantha Smith, I've been doing these exercises. I experience buring in the inside of my knee with some of the exercises. I'm 6 weeks out, have reached 120 flexion and close to 0 extension. Is the burning sensation normal and on average, how long do patients experience this? UPDATE: After doing these exercises, I am improving in my ROM, strength, and with far less pain. Very relieved!
I'm 7-8 weeks from my surgery. I still have so much stiffness on my right knee. When I go to physical therapy my knee bends as far to 90 degrees, but when I'm done I go back to stiffness. I'm a Diabetic & have Neuropathy. I still have swollenes on my knee & ankle. Everything you're doing looks easy.

I am 6 months post op and am still having alot of pain and still in PT. I had 1st knee done 7 years ago and fast recovery. I am trying these exercises so fingers crossed.
Thank you. I'll try this, some of your other stretches really helped me with ITB issues which I've had on both knees. I've had bilateral knee replacements one year apart, about 4.5 months since the last. Do you have a bilateral survivor t-shirt?
I had total knee replacement on my left leg some 3 and a half weeks ago as of this writing. I only watched this video in a "fast forward" way to look at the exercises. I don't think I can do most of them or yet. My knee is still stiff at 90 degrees and I had already gotten it there from 0 degrees even though it took some 3 weeks. I am not at the point of bending it past that so fast though I am working on tolerating the pain. I also had Double hip replacement last year which is a walk in the park comparatively. However Doing the leg extensions where the hip is holding the entire leg up actually strains and hurts my left hip just as much as, or at times more than my left knee which may be strange but I don't want to make my left hip hurt. also. It does not feel as if it is helping. I have been told by a PA that I have to tolerate pain more and try harder to get my leg to bend past 90 degrees sooner. I think that is the wrong advice and method. I feel I could cause injury. Unfortunately pain is part of our healing process. Do the work or you’ll be needing MUA to break up scar tissue. Ive had two prior MUAs horrific pain after those much worse than working through the PT pain.good luck!
I had a scope done about 4 weeks ago. My doctor said no pt for his reasons. Consequently, I have muscle tightness and scar tissue already in my (the thin part covering the muscles, can’t remember). I’m in so much pain and so tight and now it’s gotten down to my heels. I just found your videos and this one. This 10 minute stretch helped tremendously. Dr. Samantha, I'm 3 and half month's PO. I have been doing these exercises since I saw it recommended on your knee replacement FB site. My knee has not been doing too bad, but the last few days it has been tight and more stiff than usual. Feel some pain run down the shin especially the side of the leg. Is this up and down normal at this point. I just realized I have slacked off on massaging the knee. Just trying to brainstorm what I could do to loosen up? Thank you! I appreciate your videos.
I am 5 weeks post surgery. I ruptured the left Patella tendon. I can't lift my leg. What exercises can I do. I am on a brace. With number degrees on each side. Thank you! 😊
Thank you Dr.. i tried them all. Great relief but bending both knees over to the side n then to the other side really hurts my operated knee.. should i continue that
I’m 3 weeks & 3 days after total knee replacement. I’m struggling to get the bend my therapist says I need. They want me riding the cycle & making full circles. I’ve gone around 4 times last week but it was very stiff. I’m scared of having to have a manual manipulation.
I’d really recommend my Post Surgery Course to make sure you are doing everything right. Most of the time you can improve the knee bending with adequate rest and the right exercises. All of which are explained in the Post Surgery Course. Www.Succeedcourses.Com/post-surgery-course
Hi I'm almost 6 weeks out and I can't do most of these stretches. I know I'm probably going to need a MUA . I am still on home PT until I see surgeon Monday. 2 weeks ago I was measured at 72° yesterday the PT assistant didn't have a measurement tool and estimated me at 45° I'm really frustrated because I am doing all the exercises several times a day. 😢
Sometimes poor physical therapy or bad advice can cause patients to become very stiff. My post surgery course has a 99% success rate. I would highly recommend enrolling. Www.Succeedcourses.Com/post-surgery-course
I have exercise classes and then educational courses too. All are on my website: www.Succeedcourses.com If you need help figuring out which one is best for you, let me know 🙂
Had bilateral knee replacement 2017 & 2018 ,then had total right hip replacement 2022 .very hard to get up off floor. Tried your video but just don’t have enough strength to get up off floor. I am 67 now.And suggest on exercising that would help.
My technical specialized combat training began with clearly identifying the mission result then putting together a schedule of events to accomplish that mission result. I’m having knee surgery in 4 weeks and doing my due diligence. I’ve watched you tube after you tube and none of the posters have demonstrated to me a time line of what to expect day by day month but month. Where would I go to get this?
Hi Dr Sam. Just had a TKR-REVISION 9 days ago. This is my 6th knee surgery😔. The 1st TKR was done 19 and I had 2 MUAs in 20 and 21. I opted for a revision after battling limited ROM 75* swelling pain, SEVERE SCAR TISSUE ADHESIONS, etc for the past 4 years. I have a wonderful Surgeon and team. I am EXCITED to report at day 9 Iam 105* ROM and I have pratically all of my extention. I honestly cannot believe it. HOWEVER, I have alot of swelling of course and stiffness. My fear is because I have this range so soon with swelling could I lose it? And that dreaded scar tissue IAM SOOOOO AFRAID OF it Coming BACK. Im having therapy at home for 2 weeks then, I will transition into out patient. Any suggestions. Thanks so much for any responses.

Hi Dr Samantha thank you so for replying. I have my back pain also I have an epidural injection few months ago but still my leg has and in back also but little less
Hi Samantha I wish there was a physiotherapist on you tube that's actually had a tkr so they actually know the pain you go through trying to do these exercises and not young fit people like you that make it look so easy😢
I hope I never need this surgery. But I’ve worked with thousands of patients after a knee replacement and 90% of them can do these exercises. I always try to chose exercises that appeal to everyone.
I am 13 days out on TKR the stiffness is incredible but gettin very slowly better. I’m currently gettinG PT AND had only 2 sessions and they want me at almost 90 By Monday. I’m feeling like this will be impossible for me given where I am now.

I’m a month out, when do the bend come. The stiffness and pain is really frustrating. I’m following your instructions. Is there anything else I can do
Yes, definitely. I would follow my Post Surgery Course to a T. You will have great outcomes. Www.Succeedcourses.Com/post-surgery-course

Your videos are helping me a lot, but I have a baker cyst behind my knee replacement that hurts a lot. Is there any exercises to help with that?
Great useful
Thankyou🙏🏾
You’re welcome 😊
Hi do you have videos on ACL surgery rehab?
Hello these stretches are helping me...I'm 6 weeks PO...
Wonderful!
I am 5 weeks post surgery. I ruptured the left Patella tendon.
I can't lift my leg. What exercises can I do. I am on a brace. With number degrees on each side. Thank you! 😊
Good morning I just have stiffness and tightness across the front of my knee all day what exercises would help? I’m 5 weeks post op
Lots of stretching needed! Are you in my Post Surgery Course? This will really help you. Www.Succeedcourses.Com/post-surgery-course
Thank you Dr.. i tried them all. Great relief but bending both knees over to the side n then to the other side really hurts my operated knee.. should i continue that
If it hurts, don’t do it! No need to increase the pain
Hi Samanta in this workout I can't pull my affected leg and bend so much and so how to do the workout ?
How long is it going to get better especially filling it tight.
Best support 🙏
Where can I find your courses
I have exercise classes and then educational courses too.
All are on my website: www.Succeedcourses.com
If you need help figuring out which one is best for you, let me know 🙂
I did not hear how many reps you recommend for each exercise/stretch?
Usually 1 min per exercise
Had bilateral knee replacement 2017 & 2018 ,then had total right hip replacement 2022 .very hard to get up off floor. Tried your video but just don’t have enough strength to get up off floor. I am 67 now.And suggest on exercising that would help.
Yes! Here’s a video How To Get On & Off The Floor After A Knee Replacement: 3 Exercise Ideas Included

I have a general timeline on this article. It’s at the bottom. www.succeedcourses.com/blog/when-will-my-knee-replacement-feel-normal
How far PO can you start doing these? I am at 3 weeks and not sure, I don’t want to have any setbacks if I do and shouldn’t be. Thanks
I am going on 2 weeks now, and stiffness is pretty rough. I am about 75 to 80 degrees so far and pain.
Keep that leg elevated with ice! That will help you bend it more.
How soon after surgery are these exercises safe? I am 6 weeks postop.
Yes! These are beginner exercises. But of course, please check with your provider before starting any new exercises 👍

It's almost 3 months since I h ad my operation and I have a lot stiffness in my knee
I'm in my 4th week. I can do these but it's so hard because it pinches and hurts afterward. I'm so frustrated 😕
Pinching is something you’ll want to see the surgeon about if you haven’t already.
i need a program for 14 weeks after knee sutgery
Yes! I have my 4 Week Strength, Balance & Stretching Class. succeedcourses.com/Exercise-class
Hi! Samantha Nothing personal keep up the good work 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
What?
I have had surgery 16 days ago how much exercise I should do
Should be very light exercises. I have a Post Surgery Course with all the exercises in it. Www.Succeedcourses.Com/post-surgery-course
After the knee operation it’s hard to bend the knee is it safe to do this as I don’t want to be in a lot of pain
I’m 9 weeks out and know everyone is different but is there an average time it takes for TKR to feel like a normal knee? Thanks for the terrific vids
Yes! I have an article for you to read. www.succeedcourses.com/blog/when-will-my-knee-replacement-feel-normal
Great article and great information. Helps tremendously!
I am 13 days out on TKR the stiffness is incredible but gettin very slowly better. I’m currently gettinG PT AND had only 2 sessions and they want me at almost 90 By Monday. I’m feeling like this will be impossible for me given where I am now.

My name is Rich, I had the 11 weeks ago. I still have pain and so much swelling. I have done all the therapy and continue to do more exercises in my gym. Why and I still so swelled and dealing with so much pain?? Please help!
You’re only about 50% healed. Full recovery is 1 year.
A course on “Failed TKR”…? Two years after revision. 90 ROM pushing it. Big pain. Tighness to the max, swollen ankle and foot. Hips on fire. But nothing wrong on the X Rays…..
Anything for me Dr. Smith? Am I at the end of my rope….?
I have had pain on the outside of my knee
I can do this exercise after 3 month after my revision
