    Thank you for this! From all the other elrs videos I've seen, none have pointed out those limitations, which are vital to know for fixed wing pilots.

      Someone is working on a fork to add more than 4 11 bit channels

    Thanks for taking the time to explain the considerations and tradeoffs that must be appreciated when using ELRS on fixed wings. Was great to watch you fly while explaining details.

    Nice one Andrew! Glad to see it all running and in the air without issues. 115k baud will limit you max packet rate available (can’t use 500hz rate), but on gliders / wings you don’t need crazy high packet rates anyway, so should be totally fine.

    Thank you for being open minded and giving elrs a try. I am using 2.4g elrs on a Nano Goblin using the Matek Diversity receiver, F411, INav LUA, ect with very good results even in a metro environment. Matek also has CRSF boards that allow adding a GPS, Voltage and current telemetry.

    Thank you for showing how ELRS can be used for fixed wing and showing a Real Flight with it! I have found by logging into the receiver on WiFi and remapping the Rx's output #5 to a higher ELRS channel, the 7 bit resolution they have work pretty well even with a head tracker. There are a couple of LUA settings that help, ELRS dev Bryan Mayland has some fun youtube videos that show a lot in a little bit on how to get it working adequately. I would really like to hear your impressions of flying a full 5 channel plane with one as you actually fly a lot and don't just talk ;)

    Makes me want to put my quads down and dust off the planes. Really enjoyed that and thanks for the breakdown on channel options, I've thought to get a long range set up for a little while but the 1200mw dji hack is working out ok at the moment.

    I installed the same rx in my t1 ranger. Same TX. You say full resolution 1-4 but on all my surfaces the movements seem a little jumpy. Any ideas what to check?

    • @AndrewNewton

      Does it happen with other receivers? Maybe only when the transmitter is close? Cant think of any reason really.

    I think I'll just stay with normal cheap 2.4g flysky receiver lol 😆 I'm not going to be flying a mile away as I live in a big city with too much interference

    Awesome to see some ExpressLRS on fixed wing content! I was worried about how difficult a jump it is from FrSky's "just bind and fly (assuming same version)" ecosystem but you seem to have picked it up pretty quickly. I'd love to offer my direct support for answering any questions you have, CapnBry on the ELRS discord, or I can get you my email address.

    I think your Radiomaster would work better with ELRS Andrew..🤔...Can you not solder the micro ELRS RXs to the Matek Decoder board..?.. The RX / TX pins are in reverse order but you could do it with wire maybe. I use the Matek Decoder PCB with some of my Nano CRSF recievers. Will this give full resolution on 8 channels then?...😳😳🤔🤔.. ELRS is here to stay IMO it will replace all the standard 2.4g systems eventually...😳🤔🇬🇧

    • @AndrewNewton
      @AndrewNewton  3 года назад +1

      Would need to flash this with crsf firmware, otherwise it's a PWM only Rx. The decoder board would give access to all the channels, but wouldn't change the resolution

    • @EnglishTurbines
      @EnglishTurbines 3 года назад

      @@AndrewNewton I don't think you can flash a 2.4g Rx with CRSF firmware Andrew. They must be able to create the Crossfire feature list on 2.4g IMO. They just have to give up some of that rediculous low latency...?....🤔😳😳🇬🇧
      Try the ELRS Module in the RM it has a faster baud rate...I pretty sure it can even use the CRSF APP too..🤔

    From what I've watched so far on youtube...ELRS is great for quadcopters...particularly 5" and smaller...No way I'd trust it for LR on a wing etc over Crossfire tho.
    I live in an extremely noisey environment. (Planet England)...so 868 is the only thing I trust....Sorry.
