Security Flaws In Bolt Ride App And How To Completely Delete Your Account

  • Bolt Ride is making a lot of waves in my country right now but someone in my team reported that it seems their account has been compromised, I had to investigate.
    My first advise was to delete every Credit/Debit card stored in the App/Account and log out. That was done and rides were still made with the account - emails sent when the rides are completed or cancelled.
    I was surprised that such could happen since the Bolt App requires a One Time Password (OTP) before you can log into the App/Account.
    A closer look into the App shows that the App doesn't have or require a password. There is no way you can verify if your phone number is already been used in the Bolt database as you will get OTP for every login. Furthermore, you cannot delete your account from within the App, you have to send a series of chat messages to support and it can take some time.
    In this video, I will show you how to know if your account has been compromised, how to completely delete or deactivate your Bolt Ride Account.

      The fine will definitely not come from Nigerian Govt. for sure but a Govt that is technically driven and has its people first in heart will surely do something. It's been over 3 days I sent a DM to Bolt (Nigeria) on this development on Twitter but no answer yet.

    I'm in the US and have never installed the app or created an account. But I am getting receipts for trips to my email. I am trying to reach Bolt and as you are saying, it is nearly impossible.

      I am sorry to hear this. Bolt customer service is below zero and since you didn't open an account with Bolt, it's impossible to stop the email sending. Can you try chatting them up on Twitter?
