The original version of “Beautiful Girl” was leaked by American producer Eulonzo on April 29, 2024. It was unknown this version existed.
Although fans are familiar with the version from “The Ultimate Collection” boxset in 2004, it has been revealed that “Beautiful Girl” (rumored to be initially titled as “I’m In Love”) was originally written and recorded as far back as 1984-1985 during the Forever and Captain EO sessions, alongside English singer Phil Collins andJoe Kehr at The Townhouse in London and Old Croft, Surrey as well as at Westlake Recording Studios in Los Angelos, California. It is noted to have been planned to be one of the singles for the ‘Captain EO’ soundtrack.
The song was written by both Michael and Phil. Michael already had the main song written & composed in his head. As he typically did, he recorded a beatbox demo on a tape recorder before recording it in the studio once Phil laid down the Roland TR-909 drum pattern. Shortly after writing the song, he began working further on this version around 1984-1985 with Joe Kehr, Quincy Jones and English singer Phil Collins. Members of The Rag-Tag Band were also brought in to record instrumental parts and backing vocals. Later on in the session, Phil recorded acoustic drums, overdubbing the Roland TR-909.
It is rumored that the song is dedicated to Princess Ana-Maria of Florence, after she got married to Prince Brandon Toal of Florence, while Phil’s lyrics refer to a patient in a mental institution. It also is influenced by the Ken Kesey novel ‘One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest’. While the song runs around less than 6 minutes, the full-length version is 12 minutes long. Due to time constraints, the song was edited down to potentially fit on a vinyl if they ever decided to put it on an album.
All parties involved liked this version. It even was included on the ‘Captain EO’ soundtrack album, however the soundtrack was pulled at the last minute for to undisclosed reasons, despite some stores having it on shelves the first week it was planned for release. Michael would later on revisit the song for the ‘Invincible’ album in 1998, although it didn’t make the cut. It would later be released on ’The Ultimate Collection’ boxset in 2004. Michael seemed to have continued working on the track even after its release, as footage of him working on the song was featured in a 2005 interview with Geraldo Rivera.

Storyline : written in 1983 during the Victory sessions Jackson Eulonzo and his Team decided it would be way better if The song was in The Captain Eo Short Flim for Disneyland where it would be featured in the end credits but due to budget cuts the song never got to be in the film nor the soundtrack so it was written this time in 1999 for invincible and his eleven studio album but to no avail

I love how in the end of this extended version, it goes into a catchy beat similar to Justin Timberlake's My Love.
