I heard this masterpiece first on “You” season 3 ep 3. I watched that show with my boyfriend my favorite human on earth after I broke up with him because he left me with no other choice. I rediscovered this song and your song helped me through it, it helped me heal I can’t wait to see you in person

Well, I don't think the lyrics are so sad after all. Two people who have found relief in separation - "I read your letter in the morning by the lake and I cried.
They were tears of joy, my chains are finally broken." I understand what you are saying though. I didn't realize what the song was all about until I pulled up the lyrics. Misty Boyce does a fabulous job here but Allison Ponthier, the writer, sings it slightly different and brings a twist to the ending.
