The Closing of Fire In The Hole - A Ride that Created History

- It is sad to say, but the days of this 50-year-old piece of art have now come to a close! Today (December 30th, 2023) marks the end of its historic reign. Three generations have seen and ridden this thing, and it is incredible to watch the smiles on every single one of their faces as they get off this masterpiece. I'll never forget my first ride on this thing, and how memorable it was. So I formally and sadly salute this ride as it fades into history forever.

Rode this in 1984, and learned about it closing during my return to Branson in 2023. I regret we didn’t make it to SDC so I could see it as an adult.
Nothing can beat the original but I'm glad they bring fire in the hole 2.0. Instead of just saying goodbye. My favorite ride at sliver dollar city.
Great commentary & video, sad to see it go. Had fun riding this ride & kind of liked the dark inside thrill that it had!
Thanks for sharing this video I'm from the UK I never got to ride this ride which is Sad, I was 1yrs old when this ride opened wow, it's sad to see it go, 50yrs is along time I think inspectors checked the whole ride out & deemed it not safe, people can look forward to the new version of the ride it will be the same on the history of it but with smells, animatronics, etc i bet it will still be alot of fun.
Yeah, I can't wait for the new one! It's cool that you know about the ride but have never ridden it, it just goes to show the legacy this thing has given out!

Our first time riding this took us a little aback. We weren't sure exactly what we had just experienced, but then we rode it again and again and again....
... and now it is BY FAR the most ridden by our family and many times this ride closed out our night at SDC. So long old girl. We'll see you on the other side of the park next time!
anyone remember on summer days and long lines way back when FITH "chef" would come out and fill up the buckets hanging and they would all have holes in them? He would tell everyone to pass them in the line getting their feet wet and then yell at everyone cause all the water was gone by the time they would get back to him....such a classic SDC slapstick routine that used to be everywhere around the park....miss those days late 70's early 80's. Those buckets actually did have a purpose!!

Are you familiar enough with the earlier version to present a video with the similarities and differences between the two versions? Many things in the new version seemed very familiar to me.
