Take out the battery first ok, thank God I watched this. If I remember should you stand on a rubber mat ? I heard a long time ago about grounding yourself. I have never opened any laptop in my life and for some reason I am super excited about it. My laptop ( almost the same as yours ) makes a very loud annoying sound sometimes when I turn it on. I will take my best guess, I think its the fan that is full of dust. When the labtop is turned on and that loud sound comes, If I shut the screen flat the sound stops right away. Thank you so much for sharing this. God Bless you.

Regarding your question, grounding yourself is not necessary. I've been servicing and repairing for over 18 years, and neither I nor any experienced friends have ever grounded ourselves for repairs. Just make sure not to rub your hands on thick fur clothes, and a simple touch to any metal table before starting is sufficient.
If you have any more questions or requests in the future, please don't hesitate to ask.
      Cheers! 🍻

I have a hp 15 cw. With a 3500u cpu. I ordered the 2 fans from the hp 15 cs unit. They fit . Like this unit it has the extra fan connector. Next is the heatsink from the hp 15 cs. It has a bigger heatpipe on it for 25 watt. Instead of the little 15 watt one on the original cooler. It should all fit. I hope it will cool a bit better. Going from one fan to 2 did not improve much. Because the heatpipe on the original cooler just isn't able to move more heat and transfer it to the fins. I am hoping the other heatsink will do better. Giving me some headroom to run it with bit more power. Its not really needed. But its nice if it just runs cooler and fans need to ramp up less fast.

Thank you for the feedback, and keep us posted. We tried this method, but it yielded the same result due to the fan curve of the BIOS. It's only a matter of time before the temperature reaches the set threshold and the fan kicks in. However, you will have less fan time working, resulting in extended battery life. Just make sure to isolate the board from the heat sink to prevent any shorts.

@@uFixTek i didn't get the heatsink for discrete graphics. Thatone has 2 heatpipes and is rated for 30 watts and indeed needs to be shielded from the board. I just got a single heatpipe one rated for 25 watts. For an intel chip UMA. No discrete graphics. I know the fancurve can't be changed. But atleast i hope i can move heat away from the cpu a little better. And disable fan always on in the bios. When the cpu is below 41 c the fan will turn off. Maybe the new heatsink will make that happen just a little more often. And maybe the double fan will prevent heat from saturating the whole notebook with heat. The 15 watt heatpipe that comes with the 3500u in my cw really just does not go a great job. It takes a long time for temps to come down after its finished with a load.

i hope it works well for you the mod and gets you a bit more battery time and less fan noise. cheers

@@uFixTek i just installed it. Not a huge difference. It just cools down a little faster after a load. And it might just give me a tiny bit more room to add a few watts with a tuning utility. But. My conclusion is. That these laptops just have poor thermal design. And a lot of heat builds up inside when under sustained load. Because the air intake and exhaust are really close together. Leading to no airflow elsewhere in the laptop. But, its always fun to tinker and try. But. It does all fit. But its not really worth the investment. I just do it for fun.

i did this but sadly it didnt do much. i might get that dual fan from the higher spec model. how difficult can it be cooling a 10 watt chip. seriously

The cooling fan screws don't want to unscrew, any suggestions on what I can do to loosen them?

regarding your question: i recommend you to press a bit hard on it and do a slow rotation and with pressure.
if that doesn't work then you will need to make a cut over the screw head and use a flat screw drive,
e.g. of bad screw on this video and other video
