So no big changes then , and unlikely to effect most sparks . Especially those who only do domestic. Thank you for letting us know. About these miner changes. Great video as always 👍
Thanks for the update. Clause 422.2 has added new text in red "a firefighting lobby, shaft or staircase of" a protected escape route etc. Note 1 below Clause 422.2 states guidance is provided in Appendix 13. Appendix 13 describes protected escape routes (as defined) and states can be one or more of the following: "protected lobby, protected corridor, protected stairway". Therefore what is the intent behind the new text in red? In a block of flats with a fire fighting shaft, the common corridor (protected corridor) is assumed to be the fire fighting lobby in line with guidance. The common corridors would in effect be captured by both Clause 422.2 and the guidance in Appendix 13. I understand there are some cables (telecommunicaiton and data) which do not meet the requirements of Regulation 422.2.1 therefore does this mean such cables would need to be installed in metal conduit or metal trunking in the ceiling voids of common corridors in a block of flats? (Remember the common corridor is assumed to be the fire fighting lobby). I note Appexdix 13 states "Cables installed in a fire resisting enclosure are deemed to be outside the protected escape route". Whilst a fire resisting ceiling could be provided within the common corridors of blocks of flats, this ceiling void is often used as a plenum for ventilation therefore not that easily achieved. I would appreciate some of your thoughts on the matter.
I know what you're saying John. They have given us a taster and left the rest of the interpretation up to the individual. Personally. I think they are stating that these areas listed are definitely part of higher risk area in a lobby. maybe the IET will give clarity when they do a talk on the subject in June. Thanks for watching and for the comments. Dave.
Hi sir, I want to do electrical installation condition report the earth arrangement is TNC-S and the consumer unit has Additional Protection by RCD and RCBO but there is no earth bonding conductor and there is no water or gas pipe to run cable. Installation pass all testes So the EICR is satisfactory or no And what we do Thanks
If there are no water pipes and no gas pipes and no other extraneous metalwork in any part of the installation, then there is nothing to connect equi-potential bonding to. You must however have an earth cable from the service head to the consumer unit.
