Note to all that see "DCT" in the route description - it means "DIRECT" (i.e. go direct to the waypoint - not via an airway). If you leave the left side of the route page empty, it will auto-fill with "Direct".
I noticed sometimes when I do a departure in the pmdg 900er once im airborne I would turn on autopilot but then the plane would keep circling to the departing runway instead of the next way point. Any idea what it could be? It could be a miss input from my end.
You, sir, are the most amazing teacher on MSFS. I know as an Englishman you do not like to brag about yourself. But you deserve a massive amount of praise for these tutorials.
This is great, your explanation of the anatomy of the flight plan was very helpful. I've been grappling trying to understand these for some time and after watching your explanation all the pieces have now fallen into place - many thanks Jonathan!
This is an absolutely brilliant tutorial. Finally a tutorial I can follow easily. I’ve signed into simbrief and had a look. Just brilliant as I’m on Xbox series x. The next thing to do is buy the 737-600 😊. Thank you very much for a brilliant tutorial. Rob
Yes, the flight following does work with Xbox, provided the aircraft has integrated Navigraph charts. There is an option in the FMC to enter your Navigraph login details. It will then sync with the chart app. I use it with an Android tablet, running Navigraph, and once the FMC is configured, the flight following then works 😊
@Felix-rk5eo Xbox X, which works quite well. I don't have a computer powerful enough to run the simulator. I did add an additional 2TB storage pack to install the sim onto.
@gjarnling In the FMC options, there is an option to connect to your Navigraph account. Use the displayed QR code to set up the connection. You then can access the charts via the FMC (which are greyed out normally). This is only supported on certain aeroplanes from the marketplace for Xbox.
Absolutely superb video - thanks for making it Jonathan. Only issue I'm having is getting the plane to descend whilst on VNAV - I dial-down the altitude as you do just before the top of descent, but my plane refuses to budge whereas yours starts immediately!
Thank you sir. What other mods (airports/aircrafts/liveries etc) would you recommend for x box users which would not interfer with the game play performance or rather which would not cause crashes? I see your airport is very animated😊
Great video and very helpful. I did exactly the same as in the video but get a “NO DES PATH AFTER INREV”. With this the VNAV will not work. Any suggestions how to solve that. Thank you so much.
Great tutorial very calmly done with no assuming that we already know the plane ,I notice while you were inputting the Ils freq for EGPH your Nav panel looks different to my one on Xbox X as frequencies are side by side on mine and not on top of each other on yours?
The PMDG 737 fleet let you configure the aircraft hardware as per the real thing. There are something like 15 pages of hardware options deep inside the FMC. It's brilliant. Each livery supplied with the aircraft matches the load-out of the real corresponding aircraft.
Hi Jonathan, really enjoying your videos! What addons are you using to adjust liveries on AI traffic? Would be interesting to see a video on addons you are using in general. Also keen to learn your best practice with installing MSFS updates, challenges with the community folder etc. Keep up the good work!
I had an add-on called "Simple Traffic" - there are lots of alternatives that work better, such as FSLTL (which is in the FlyByWire installer, I seem to recall).
Nice tutorial I understand and I am able to follow everything but I play on the Xbox series s and I have some glitches like the rudder doesn’t work and stuff
How do you get rid of the default aircraft that MSFS adds to the gates? Everytime I start up at KSJC I'm sitting on top of a default aircraft at the gate and it's annoying.
Hi Jonathan, I’ve had a Navigraph account for years, I’ve now moved from pc to Xbox, how do I update my airac in the PMDG 737 for Xbox with the latest airac, I can’t seem to get a definitive answer from Navigraph, thanks.
The TOGA button is on the dash in the sim to the lower left of the course dial. It’s the black screw. Curious as to why it’s not located on the throttles.
I have a question this is a route from sim brief, it’s from Boston to New York, PATSS6 PATSS NELIE VALRE HAARP3. I don’t see which runway to use for departure or landing how exactly would I enter this route? Thanks my man
@@chuck176 The route you have pasted has no departure, destination or runways in it. You're missing each end of the route. If you copied it from the text box in simbrief BEFORE generating the plan, that will explain why :)
@@jonbeckett I actually came up with another route it’s from charolette to New York LaGuardia, 18L N0459F390 WEAZL4 CLAWD DCT SITTR Q34 GVE KORRY4 KLGA/22, are the ones that have a number always a airway? When I enter it should it be, WEAZL4 would go to the left because it a airway, then CLAWD to the right then DCT to the left, SITTR to the right, Q34 to the left, GVE to the right then the last airway would be KORRY4 and then my runway for landing would be ILS 22
You probably did not set your cabin pressure correctly. Make sure to put your cruise and landing elevation(make sure your landing elevation is always equal to or above the actual elevation) in the pressure settings right above your lights.
For some reason I can’t use half the buttons for the Xbox version the nav buttons and the engines dials won’t turn to on or anything so I basically wasted 34 bucks.
@@jonbeckettyour absolutely amazing! Thanks my man! I have a question can I always set it up for auto land? This is literally the best tutorial I’ve ever seen! At last someone who knows how to impart information.. Thank you so much
Great work bro! I’ve had the pmdg 738-800 since release on series x and also the bae! This is the best video Jonathan! Great tutorial!!!!
Excellent timing Jon ! Decided to relearn 737-600, just started going through RUclips tutorials

It means after INREV its can't do what's being instructed - probably because it can't achieve the descent in the distance.
But I have a problem in my legs flight plan there is no top of descent I don’t see it is it normal ?

If it’s the PMDG service your hydraulics. It happened to me yesterday
Am afraid to say you landed the wrong way. When the METAR was playing it did actually say landing and departing runway 06 in use 😃😃

I had a delay between planning it, and recording. Happens to me a LOT.
Thanks for the awesome video.
There is no SET IRS POS on my xbox series X like you have in 11:57. Just empty on my FMC.

If you mean the Screw click spot, it’s just so it’s easier to hit with mouse/controller that the Real life TO/GA on the throttle thumb toggle.

Have you worked through the checklist ? Also, have you tried changing the control scheme to legacy, instead of the XBox "lock/modern" system ?
It says invalid entry whenever I type an airway in.
Hi mate! I just bought this plane I play on Xbox, the problem is that I can’t press the lnav, vnav, and altitud switch, do you know why?
Those autopilot modes will not switch on unless you have a fully configured FMC, intertial navigation working, and flight directors switched on.
@@jonbeckett ohh got it thanks man!
How do you get that flight plan overlay on the Xbox
You can't.

What do you enter if it says dct?
DCT means direct - you can enter DCT on the left side of the route page.
same thing i got
Yea it works if I just leave it blank and connect the right side so there is no disconnect
