It is absolutely horrifying. You've reached this conclusion after killing 40000 civilians, mostly children and costly destruction of the whole Gaza. How abhorrent!!
The original intention was to push large chunk of the population out of Gaza into the Sinai, total destruction of hamas was only a pretext. As of today 40000 has been killed, 100,000 more have been wounded 150,000+ (mostly skilled middle class) has fled the enclave and worst more, the destruction of the strip has rendered it incapable of sustaining modern life without foreign aid. So technically the IDF is achieving its nefarious agenda.

How can you eliminate an idea by force. The idea only grows and multiply. The way to eliminate an idea is to propose an opposing idea and find ways to encourage people to buy into it. You need to convince people in Palestine that life is more important than to sacrifice it for nothing.
That is not going to happen if the conditions that made Hammas flourish continues. 1) illegal settlements on the west bank. 2) daily raids on the west bank. 3) Palestinians are treated as subhumans/savages.
