Hope you enjoy our newest Rainbow Road! This was filmed in our basement sporadically over 3-4 months. We made it from 3 Mattel Rainbow Road Tracks, Plastic sheets with LED string lights and Spray Painted Hot Wheels tracks. To light them all up used plenty of Black lights.
Some fun facts:
I had to paint the Yoshi and Koopa with Glow in the dark paint to be able to have them be seen easier on video
I tried to recreate the EPIC Blue Shell Scene from the recent Mario Bros Movie. Initially I had this intricate plan of getting blue smoke from a smoke bomb into a balloon and then popping that balloon in front of a green screen, but them I was happy to see that someone already did a version of the blue shell online! So I saved myself a huge hassle.
Blue Shell Koopa was made by just painting Green Shell Koopa with blue paint and then putting spikes with a hot glue gun and painting those white
It took about 30 takes to get Yoshi to land that jump. That Kart is no longer operable because a few of its wheels broke
-As much as I love the Mach 8. It is a hard one to film with Hot Wheels. They have a lot of weight to them and are the lowest to the ground, so there is a lot of inconsistency with them.
This set cluttered my Basement from May to September, I was hoping to have it posted by Mid-June, but got too distracted with other videos and work got really crazy
Another fun fact....this footage is actually for a Movie I'm making that has a completely different plot, I just had so much footage that I decided to make it into it's own race....spoiler alert...the Movie will follow Yoshi down into the Dark Abyss....IT IS SO AWESOME! I cant wait to release that...but I have a lot more additional filming to do....hoping to have that posted by the end of 2023.

Those Rainbow Road tracks really light up over the black light.
I’m hoping one day to be able to update to a better camera to have an even better lighting. But for now I’ll stick with the IPhone.

I really like how the visuals looked on this course.
This definitely was visually difficult one to film. Also didn’t want to trigger any seizures!
So one interesting thing about this video; is that this is actually part of my big video “Race for The Mushroom Kingdom” but I had so much extra footage that I just made it it’s own duo race. But the coolest part that you won’t see until it’s released, is following Yoshi down the hole. He learns of his special contribution to the Kingdom.

Going to get started on filming one of the Speedways or Raceways during September to catch all the beautiful colors of fall.
Then I’m going to be doing a lot of filming for Luigi’s Mansion and Ghost Valley.

Thanks so much! When I was testing out different lighting options I was way excited to see how much color the black lights added. Those LED strips are also pretty helpful.

Can you do another cup race?
Eventually. I’m hoping to post the next Cup race sometime next fall. I’m taking a little break from filming and creating videos. Hopefully will be back to posting in March or April.
These videos are my hobby and I want to keep them that way! 😊
I’m thinking it’s going to be the Star Cup. I’m trying to pick out what tracks I’m going to do. I think Ghost Valley would be a lot of fun to make. Would really like to do one under water…but that would be a beast to film.
Any Suggestions?
