- On the latest episode of Inside The Leafs, Postmedia's Rob Wong chats with Toronto Sun Maple Leafs writers Lance Hornby and Terry Koshan about Mitch Marner's future in Toronto and whether the Leafs should find a way to move him this offseason. They also discuss which unrestricted free agents the Leafs may try to bring back this summer.

Mike Babcock would have dealt with Mitch differently. But hey Leaf Nation loved the goals and assists ... so they picked their poison. I know a lot of players hate Mike but I suppose Leaf Nations loved Mitch more.

Marner is a talented player no doubt. But he’s a cancer in that group. He has a father who is very vocal on social media, that doesn’t help either. Marner is also a person who comes across as very arrogant, at least that is the impression a lot of fans have. Great regular season guy, come playoffs, he disappears. He is also slight of build, won’t go into the greasy areas of the ice to fight for possession because he’s afraid he might get hurt or scarred somehow with an errant stick or puck. He’s a prima donna, probably good for the regular season, but come the real season in April and beyond, he may as well be in the Ice Capades with full tutu and tights and nylons.
Think Mitch should try playing in Utah.

Like how the media continually dumps on Marner while forgetting the 8 year story of Auston Matthews. 69 (noice) goals by Matthews in the regular season, and less than 5 goals in the playoffs. Its been a running joke at this point which has become old. Yet he constant is given a pass.
Austin Matthews shouldn't be a leaf next season.
Just imagine the return if he is traded away. I am old enough to recall the Lindros trade out of Quebec / Colorado. The Flyers gave away a line up (which included Peter Forsberg) and fast tracked Colorado's rise to the championship. Patrick Roy helped a lot too. The Flyers never won a cup. They made it to the finals one year and got swept by Detroit.

I hope he's at another team's training camp... I swear, if I see one more press scrum with Mitch Marner and his false bravado that he displays only to see it completely disappear on the ice, I'm gonna punch my screen. Marner's holding all the cards? He could have 3 Aces and 2 Kings - but it doesn't matter if everyone folds before the pot grows and the hand is played... the Leafs could and should make him sit at home or in the pressbox all season - don't even allow him to attend training camp. He and his agent knows that will significantly affect his next contract in July of 2025. He'd be begging for a trade out of Toronto.

Hopefully for the sake of the rest of the nhl fans with their own particular teams, let’s hope marner stays, in Toronto. I’m not sure any team wants a god like this with no sense of how to raise his game awareness in ot. Hopefully he keeps his end up of the deal and stays his full term in Toronto. I sure hope my team does not pick up this attitude, laziness, and arrogance and pay his salary for no awareness and laziness. Please leaf fans keep him.

i don't think Mitch is the problem. Proabably one of the best right wingers in the game and people want to ship him out? Crazy. Move on from Tavares and Rielly and a new coach voice would help and thats not to say Keefe hasn't done a good job. They held the record for longest playoff drought at one point and now they are in every year facing either Florida or Boston or Tampa. Hard spot to be in.
