BB has good insight into the series and Leafs. Much better than emotional rants.
I’ve made the argument to friends that the Leafs iced the best all round team games 5/6/7 in well over a decade. (This includes the Tampa series)

Leafs need to bring in former Leafs players as coaches to coach alongside Bruce B if they hire him as an assistant coach.
Guy Boucher ran the PP it was awfully brutal why would they hire a Frenchman to run the PP that's a stupid mistake!
It would be awesome to see Berube as head coach & Bruce B rate beside him as his right hand man.

Marner is outstanding! Always out standing away from the play. No heart or grit. Shy’d away from every hit during this series.
Marner didn't react until the blur just blew by him , Rielly froze turned the wrong way then made feeble attempts of stick checking and a hook!
Samsonov stayed in the net thinking that someone was coming back or maybe come out to shot the puck away poke check? Pastrnak was on a mission on a set play and just wasn't going to be denied !
Thatswhy marner and yes, morgan reilly has to go!...reilly is an offensive defenseman who cant score or play defence....reilly is a waste of time and way overpaid! Ps...pasternak knew reilly and marner would be too lazy to check him...who do you need to watch other than pasternak for gosh sakez.

If Marner dreams of being a number one. It's never going to happen in Toronto. But as an heir apparent to Crosby in Pittsburgh and a new set up man for him. He could be the next cornerstone. And we all know, nobody can find cap space like Dubas.
Marner is not a cornerstone piece anymore and he is in noway an "heir" to Crosby. That's an Insult to Sid. Marner is at best a complimentary piece to a team that's looking to MAKE the playoffs not win in them .

the number of high-quality defencemen on Toronto who have been retired early by injury or death seems quite high - Jake Muzzin - John Klingberg - Bryan Berard - Tim Horton - Bill Barilko .... who else ?
I watched the other series in the 2nd round and the style and some personnel of the Leafs would be in TOUGH against some of those teams. Brendan Shanahan is DREAMING if he thinks his core 4 plus Reilly is anywhere close to a contender for THE CUP. Leafs fans need to send a message to MLSE, this team NEEDS A NEW DIRECTION…

Still love Bruce. I'll never forget as an 8/9 year-old, with the Leafs as my second favourite team, cheering for Sittler and MacDonald and Salming and Palmateer, also cheering for guys like Boudreau and Alan Ashby (anyone remember him??) who would come in as rookies and round out the Leafs' team every year. Leafs need more of that today...but oh yeah, I forgot...they've stupidly traded away all of their draft picks to 'go for broke' every year in the Matthews era. It does not work!!!. 😒

Samsanov was responsible for the goal the rest of the teams fault for falling asleep at the wheel and the surprise to me was Reilly the puck was on his side and please let lilligren go NOW.
The Leafs are wanting to restock the cupboards with prospects so it's no surprise they are seeking 3 first round draft picks for Marner. Creative hockey players like him who put up big points every year is very much in demand.

I think Bruce was right got caught flat footed marner and rielly and samsonov got caught sleeping and got a good bounce off boards and got in behind the defense but the last 3 games Toronto out played them
They did not get caught flat footed. They did not even skate. They did nothing like they were told to do. Funny how nobody in hockey wants to mention that it was icing. The NHL is no different than any of the other sports that are controlled by gambling.
Jay, i luv ya dude, but saying Swayman played too good for us to win...Cmon, 95% of playoff goalies play like Vezina..so that's not an excuse. Also, the Leafs did play good for 4 of the 7 games, yes they are talented players..its the fact that this team CANNOT score the 1 goal to push them forward, they have 8 yrs of this, they don't have the mental makeup to win. Look @ Grant Fuhr, huge GAA for is career, but he wouldn't let in the goal that would sink the Oilers, just wouldn't do it, no matter if he let in 5, they weren't going to get the 6th, the Leafs have nobody on this team that can score and or defend that 1 goal..

Swearing really reduced the conversation down a notch. You have a world class coach on the episode and swear trying to be a tough guy. Classless.
I think the conversation needs to change about "great players". I think the Leafs organisation needs to talk about who is a "great playoff player" and who is not. If we can't get to the 3rd round and beyond in post-season, then the whole season is a moot point.
I would disgree only that when you spend half your cap on offense you should maybe get some offense. That would seem fair IMO.
Leafs CEO'S should watch this episode , hire this coach as the next TML' S Head coach to coach the Hockey GOD' S of Toronto Maple Leafs to win the Stanley cup in 2025 !

Not sure what series Boudreau was watching. The Leafs had hardly any good scoring chances the entire series. Definitely not a barrage with tough saves needing to be made. They made Swayman look good.
Keefe+ Tavares+Reilly + dump n chase= Early playoff exit.

Puck did not go through the crease! But a more aggressive goalie would have cut that puck off and not watch it slide out to the opposition for a 1 on 0
One big blunder was Marner coming off the bench in OT and pretending he was already in Muskoka. How can you not FOCUS in first few minutes of OT? Its rediculous and no excuse is warranted.

You would think players being committed and wanting to win is a given though, right? All this crap about selling the players, the players are just as good as any other team, it’s the way they play, not who plays, not at this level. We’ve all seen how just bringing in a new coach and new structure on the ice suddenly the team that was losing starts winning. From my limited understanding it looks like the leafs lack shape on the ice. Other teams seem to be able to execute their set plays and I’m not sure the leafs even work on set plays. And why play any differently when you get a penalty, all that laying the puck back, and slow playing makes me bonkers! Just play with urgency for two minutes and see what happens. It seems like the leafs are afraid to lose the puck with 5 on 4. If you’re gonna play with a fear of losing you better hang up your skates and just talk about hockey like the rest of us…

Marner is q great player but only in the regular season and then he's a limp noodle when playoff time comes.
Pay Mitchie the 12M per year, keep Sheldon and extend his contract. No need for change. They are close to getting by the first round next year. Leaf fans don't care. It's great entertainment during the regular season.

Tired of hearing same ole crap. They didn't dominate anyone. Take away Austin's 69 goals the Leafs were in the bottom of the league. Every team knows all you have to do is shut him and Marner down and contain Willy cause he's the only core player with A heart.
after recently finding clips from the leafs behind the scenes(cant find the names) i am not surprised at all why this team stinks. seeing dubas tell keefe what the lines were and have his hands on everything and keefe swearing and bringing the guys down constantly was bullshit. try to find it but it will make u mad but allow u to see why shit didnt work. its pathetic anyways bruce needs to come in in some fashion, guy knows hockey but Toronto hockey at that and sees the game not the name.

Listening to Gabby and his "idea's and observations" it is obvious to see why his coaching career was mediocre and I am being kind.
Marner = Unbelievably Outstanding Player. How can a player be an "Unbelievably Outstanding Player" and yet fold every playoff series? I think I define "Unbelievably Outstanding" differently than BB.

Love Boudreau and his comments, but he's falsely equating games 5 & 6 with game 7. YES, the Leafs owned games 5 & 6. They held the Bruins to THREE shots in the first period of those games COMBINED!! The Leafs played as a cohesive team, rolling four consistent lines, blocking shots, winning board battles, everyone on the same page. But game 7 was a different story entirely. And WHY?? Because prima donna Matthews was back in the lineup. So Keefe spent the entire game fluffing Auston's ass, slicing and dicing his lines that had worked SO well, all in a desperate attempt to get Matthews out with favourable linemates against favourable defensive line matchups. Just like Keefe has done for his entire tenure in Toronto. It's always about #34. And when it's all about #34, the team mentality is lost. I *KNEW*...and said in many places...that if Matthews was back in for Game 7 the Bruins would take the game and the series. The Leafs play far better as a team without him.
And until Leafs Nation recognizes that and does something about it, firing Keefe or changing the moving pieces around the 'core four' will accomplish nothing. Matthews is a cancer to that team. He is NOT an MVP. Never has been. He's the single MAIN thing that keeps them looking like losers every year as soon as playoffs roll around. Because as much as people wanna criticize Marner for being soft and unproductive in the playoffs, Matthews is FAR worse that way. His regular season standard selfish "pass me the puck for a one-timer" shtick just doesn't work in the playoffs.

Too many excuses. They didn't have a full roster so they couldn't score. This guy has a fantastic regular season record but never got it done in the playoffs. Do not hire him.
Bruins were a better team. Bigger , stronger and faster. Leafs were tired and flipping the puck out in the third period. This was close but the Bruins had a superstar who made it happen.
Too little, too late. Leafs sucked in Games 1 and 4. They handed those 2 games away. Sheldon Keefe isn't the BIG issue. Team has too many show ponies, and not enough work horses

Leafs have a losing mentality. This can be seen by the same ole same ole end of year pressers. No responsibility coming from them. Why the heck pay a guy like Marner 11 mil when he has three points in a seven game series. Remember a few years ago, if it even looked like an opposing player may make contact, over the board the puck goes. No other business would any of this be acceptable year after year
