What can I say mate other than she's a rare classic & it just goes to show how hardy Ford engines really are if looked after properly they just keep going so reliable, look at this one over 350k & still driving beautifully,I loved this review thanks Johnny man.
Great review of the TL50, Ross. Don’t remember ever seeing this model in our area. They sure are very rare. This one looks so well looked after considering the kilometres it’s done. Keep up the great reviews.
On this review and on the FBT you forgot to mention the transmissions have 3 different modes you can select, economy, power and adaptive. I found with my FBT putting it in power mode and let the computer do the gear changes gave me the best 0-100 times, around 7.3s. Excellent reviews.
Sweet review Jonno! Can't believe it has done over 350k. The condition is amazing! 0-100 almost on par with my LTD too which makes sense as the power outputs are very close.
I remember these brand new working as a 4th year apprentice motor mechanic at City FTE/City Ford in Melbourne back in the late 90's early 2000's The T-series cars were beautiful specimens, I have fond memories of those days, Cheers Ross 🍻
What an absolutely stunning car , thanks for the owner allowing us to see it , I mean seriously where do you see them , I can only imagine the rest are in private car collections unseen by the public . And those only 2 Series 3 , how do you put a price on them , in the Phase 4 exclusivity range .
There are actually 3 in T3 spec. The P01 (pilot car) built 9/01 which was owned by Ford Aust until sold at auction in 2003, 002 built 11/01. Both of those are plated AUII because the LWB model change didn't come until 7/02. The last is 147 built 7/02 and is plated AUIII with a different model number to the other 2 cars. So its a true 1 of 1 and the only LWB plated AUIII. All Fairlanes & LTD cars are either AUI or AUII even though some were built after 7/02.
The TL50 is strikingly similar to the North American Ford Five Hundred of the 2008 era. I had the 3.0L V6 detuned Jaguar block in mine. All wheel-drive with the 6-speed automatic in it. Lovely car.
I’ve always loved the AU Fairlane, not so much the TL50 but still nice. The Fairlane front looks so nice and formal, which is ironic being that of an AU. 👍🏻
As a Ford dealer who was selling these when they came out I can tell you almost no-one liked the TL's 😂. The series 1&2 Tickford's were hard work in their days, even the TE'S and TS's. T3 was so much easier to move
Looks better on video than my first impression in the stills. Credit to the owner for the exhaust. Muscular without being extreme. Never knew these existed.
Contact the TE50 Club in Sydney, one of the members there owns the TL50 Series 3. He has a great story how he got it from a car yard not knowing what it was.
That's me, member of T Series Club of Aust. Yes City Ford didn't know what it was even though they sold it new. Tickford was long gone by then due to the change to FOV with the 2003 BA model
Thank you Ross. Your videos are coming up on my feed. I have not looked for them. I am just watching them. They have been the LTD and Fairlane and Caprice and Statesman. You can see this car looks like a 1988-1994 Lincoln Continental. These luxury flagship Australian Fords have nice interiors and better materials than the American Fords. These Fords could have been sold in the United States, but the issue becomes the Ford Crown Victoria, Mercury Grand Marquis and Lincoln Continental.

Pretty much anything with foam backed headliner. The heat eventually starts to break down the foam and the headliner comes away from the board. Didn't happen with the old cars as the headliner was held up by metal rods.
I'd love one of these, super rare and def going to be valuable, especially one of the few with the 5.6 factory stroker! IF I won lotto, I'd get myself a massive house to be able to then purchase one of these before the prices truly peak!
I like the wheels. My BA Ute from 2004 has very similar alloys, but they have nine spokes instead of seven. They're Ford branded but don't seem to be very common. Though I have seen a photo online of the same nine-spoke wheels on an AU wagon police car, of all things.
Difference between the rebel wheelscand those wheels are T series wheels were matched to the car, genuine T series wheels had the build number of the car stampede on the rear of one of the spokes
This model I believe to be the most atractive of the AU - BA seiries. This example is an outright unicorn, you are privileged, such as we are to experince it throgh you vid.
@@RossReviewsau such a gorgeous car but I dno why the blue oval boys are always so tight with it . So many mates have had fairlanes or fairmonts that they'll spend a fortune everywhere else and not the lining. Then you've got me Hayden why do you still smoke in such nice cars. The roof lining is $250-300 and they come to me. The convenience pays itself off 😂
No it’s not. Only thing in common with a Fairlaine is the basic shell lines. Suspension, engine, gearbox, grill, bumpers, headlights, taillights, seats and dash all different.

Pretty sure the T series was the 1st road car in the world to get steering wheel mounted shifters too
Trippy how much it looks like a Volvo S80 and a Lincoln LS of the same year made an aussie baby (meaning: rwd and better V8- baseline architecture)

There are 3 T3 TL50, and only 1 badged as a series 3 t3 iirc.
Correct. See one of my replies above for details on the 3 cars

Impressive acceleration for a 23yo car 350.000km on the clock 4spd auto and a big car
