It was the late great Mr. George Howard that opened my eyes to smooth jazz way back in the mid to late 80's. Matter of fact it was this song to be exact.....I was barely a teenager. My eyes have been open every since to this Genre of music. Thanks George....R.I.P.
For me it was Art Porter who opened my eyes to smooth jazz in the 90's, but I listen to George Howard daily. His music brings peace to me. Both gone too soon. :(
I met him at a nightclub in Houston in 1988 and got his autograph. All I had was a checkbook. He wrote in the amount and signed his name. I still have it.
I went to his concert months before his passing in San Diego at Humphries by the Bay wearing Tony Gwynn's Padres baseball jersey. He didn't speak of his illness and gave a excellent show i was glad to attend his performance before his passing and before Tony's as well i understand they were good friends.
I remember meeting George Howard in LA at a house party with my sister Debbie Jackson. I do miss George, he was the bomb!! RIP my Brother, you will live forever in your music. Love it!!
I used to go see him at Rockefellers in Houston, Tx back in the late 80's early 90's. He was a Renaissance Man back in the day and still remains classic today.....Timeless music.
I was stationed at Ft. Sam Houston, in summer '89, and out of some type of duty, to go see George Howard, in concert, by myself. Quite a few guys in my class had no idea I was into smooth jazz, or R&B, but they quickly learned. I often keep people off guard, with my musical choices. Fortunate to say, I have now seen both George Howard, AND Lionel Richie, perform this song, in concert.
First heard this song 10 years ago while staying at a cousin's house in Florida and browsing through her music list on her computer. I looked for whatever jazz she had and came across this gem. Now G.H. is my favorite jazz artist.
They just don't come any better than this. Sometimes you hear a song thats been 'remade' and you feel like they shoulda just left it alone. But brother George more than held his own on this one. Very nicely done. RIP
whattttt??? he passed away? 😱😱😱Say it ain't so. its just isn't fair to loose such jazz icons, and being stuck with talentless artist that don't know anything about real music.😡
@@hurricanesexxy Unfortunately he died in March 1998 when he was just 41 years old from lymphoma in Atlanta. Philadelphia native. Dearly loved. Sorely missed😭🎷🎶🙌🏿❤
R.I.P. George. You left behind a treasure trove of exceptional music, real old school that this present day artist couldn't live long enough to equal. George you are sorely missed. Thank you RUclips for having this library of "REAL GOOD music. I could listen to George all day and all night long....
That's wonderful Ms. Myles , I'll be writing a book about his life soon. If you get this ,I'll be looking to interview those who grew up with and knew him.
Can't believe its been since 98 when he made his transition. Damn I loved his music. I love saxophone artists because I played them from jr high thru high school. So from Boney James, Najee, Euge Groove, Kenny G, Dave Koz, G. Albright, Kim Waters, Michael Phillips and more keep the smooth sounds going!!
I first heard 'Love Will Find a Way' in June 85'. I was stationed in Ft Sill, OK then and was on my way to the airport headed for Germany. I was so struck by Mr. Howard's version of this song that as soon as I settled in Germany, I bought a copy of the album, 'Dancing in the Sun'. Not only has the album been one of my favorite Jazz albums since then, but 'Love Will Find A way' has been my favorite jazz cut of all time and I know a lot of jazz tunes of artists from Aaron Goldberg to Najee to Michael Camilo to Vince Guaraldi and from genres like Brazilian jazz to Ragtime to Smooth jazz.
I agree. Music is a very personal thing. Usually if I don't care for a song I just keep it to myself and don't listen to it anymore. Different strokes.
Well fast forward to the Summer in 2018 there are 102 thumbs down. Probably from the Generation of no talent and has no idea what great Smooth Jazz is all about.
I love this so much. I went on a land/water safari to South Africa, Zimbabwe and Botswana a gew years ago with my wife. One of the best trips we've ever taken...so many good memories. George Howard's version brings it all back!
George & I went to West Philadelphia University City High together, & we also participated in a program called Operation Discovery that had gifted students involved in music & we lived near each other in West Philly.. a very cool brother
George was a talented and masterful musician. He deserved notoriety beyond MOST of his peers, but didn't/doesn't. He provided a 'true' soul groove. Miss you bruh! Truly miss you.
Definitely one of my favorite jazz artist. i miss the sounds of Geoge. George let his instrument sing for me. Eventhough Lionel sang this song now i sing it with him. To god be glory for such a talented unselfish musician. Gallys2355
Thank you for posting. This is Jazz. Another artist that left us with a piece of their gift. It's evident that the 9 thumbs down are not familiar with Jazz.
So under rated and so so talented. RIP. G.H. much love ❤️
