the newly elected President of Panama promised to entirely close the Darien Gap. Hopefully he really fulfills his promise! I'm Colombian and support the idea of closing the gap, for both environmental and social reasons, it is bringing so much trouble to Colombia, Panama, and the whole continent
You're slightly correct, except you didn't include all the problems Colombia had brought through there for decades with drugs. Colombia is just as responsible if not more and could close it themselves like they did with Venezuela years ago. I am happy to see the boarder open with Venezuela in Cucuta Colombia where I have property. It has brought much needed relief to those suffering under the dictatorship in Venezuela
I am Panamanian. I hope the elected president DOES NOT even attempt this promise. First, because he refused to explain how he would do it (he was asked and point blank stared into the camera, and said nothing. His campaign documents aren’t of much depth either). Closing the Darién means investing heavily on recruiting a HUGE part of the workforce in the police, even with equipment that would equate to a military body, prohibited by our constitution. It also means introducing heavy machinery into this inhospitable area, but also risking displacement of already vulnerable populations. You cannot attempt to do that without a plan; the money is easier to get, but that alone means these people will be subjected to even more risk in the wilderness PLUS the added risks of dealing with a poorly trained but well equipped police. Other more advanced monitoring systems have been tried to be implemented, but those systems have been used for political repression and NOT for its intended purposes (right now, an ex president is in jail for this). Above all, it’s good to remember that people will try to move through Panama, no matter what. They will see the land and sea, and find a way. You missed one of the most important parts of the documentary: there were safer routes, but once they were closed because of political pressure, people started risking their lives and not just their livelihoods. Some people only talk from the comfort of their privileges and don’t understand that the situation of this family, especially coming from Ecuador. It’s obvious that no one wants to go through that kind of situation, neither does one to put their own children through that. But these people are just trying to survive and looking for a better life and future since they have lost everything and don’t have any support, neither from the relatives nor from the government. I hope that people would try to understand the situation instead of just making assumptions and attacking.
yes very true. Sadly, many don't care about socio-economic issues until it affects them directly. Look at Black Americans' struggles being brought to the Americas as slaves, yet no one cares. Some people get upset if you even bring it up, you're told to get over it and move on. History is history and just because some people are uncomfortable with it doesn't mean you forget and stop talking about it.
Exacto muchas gente tiene malicia, pero gracias a Dios estamos todos bien y pudimos llegar a nuestro destino mis hijas están bien gracias a Dios. Bendiciones ♥️

Didn’t you watch the video? They were at risk of getting killed. Similar stories for many of them. You comment at the comfort of your couch and watching from a distance is not helping.
It’s a blessing you don’t “understand.” Ignorance is bliss for you. Family separation is inhumane and uncivilized especially for families seeking ASYLUM. Praying your heart opens.
Just listened to the podcast about this. Was wondering where the main documentary was. Glad I've found it. I was just commenting on the podcast that a) CNA did a related documentary about Chinese migrants and b) this documentary makes me feel so grateful for what I have. Anyway, just wanted to say a thank you to the team for a job well done and for making such a poignant documentary about the hardships that so many others have to go through just to survive in this world.
This documentary is surreal....Deserves a GOLD award... CNA documentary did not make it in Darien Gap.... Hope that these people are now in good conditions.....
I wish one could live in their own country in peace. The human condition is detrimental for some. Really sucks. Horrible times. God bless these folks and keep them safe. Lord watch over those precious children. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
The bones in the middle of the trail, the story of the man shot in the skull, the two dead bodies sitting in the tent. This is something nobody should go through. but there’s nobody more deserving of this new found life than this family and every other person who has made the journey or journeys alike
I feel terrible for these people. They have to leave their country because life was unbearable there. But the problem is if they all come to the US, the US will become like their country. There are crimes and gangs in NYC as a result of bad migrants and gangs arriving here. The US simply cannot handle the sheer number of arrivals and is overwhelmed with the number of migrants coming here. US citizens are suffering from inflation, unemployment and homelessness already. The US is going downhill. And then this country is also ruined. And then where do people go?
Unless life is so terrible in their country, these people wouldn’t have come on such a risky journey. But people shouldn’t take such a risk to depend on pure luck. This video gave me goose bumps.
This pains me so much!! 💔 My heart breaks for people who live in countries that are so dangerous, they have to go through all of this just to make it here, to America 😭😢
Thanks to Al Jazeera for saving those children lives as they (Al Jazeera) were the only reason the military was in the jungle that specific time and i'm only assuming the military found the kids and took them to the camp.
All for a taste of freedom. 😢. My God, my God, protect the innocent who are only looking for a better, safe life. Bless them and protect them who are fleeing violence in their home countries. 🙏✝️. What a heavy price to pay to drag your children across mud and rivers and rocks and pure danger, just for a chance to be free. I cried watching this 😢💔
It’s beyond my thinking that these parents put their innocent unknowing babies and children through something beyond the definition of danger and some families have such desperation that they’re willing to even leave injured family behind to die. I can’t fathom this! God please bless their path and bring all who travel this Darien Gap safety and health. May all who are born and raised in the United States never take for granted their life because even a hard life in the USA is easier than what these people are going through.
5:14 the ants you see are most likely bullet ants because when they bite you it will hurt like a bullet for 24 hrs. I remember traveling another jungle in south america and always trying to avoid them but they keep finding you. In another video about the Darien people also mentioned that a whole family died from snake bites. Others got shot by guerilla for not speaking. A pregnant woman got left behind by her family because she hurt her legs. A man died because he wanted guerillas to stop raping his wife. So many ways to die and suffer. (Source Timmy Karter Video)

If they were looking for a better life, why not stop in Colombia?! Why travel all the way to America???!!
@@SuannyFloresthank God! Blessings❤
@@sandio9801because they can have a better life in America then in Colombia, obviously.
So glad they made it. My God bless your paths
This is why i dont complain 😢😢😢omg 🥺🥺🥺🥺 people shouldn't have to go through this those kids are traumatized 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾God bless them all !!
Glad they are safe RIP to those who didn't make it hope their new start bring healing 🙏🙏🙏🙏♥️♥️♥️.
I didn’t see any illegal human here. I saw human beings with souls and endless resilience fitting for their lives and the lives of their children. May God have mercy in this people and their turn their lives around full of joy and peace! 🕊️
Stealing from people who have nothing must be the lowest of the low!
Thank God that they were reunited 🙏🏾
I don’t understand why these people would put their kids through this whole journey only to be separated at the border by the United States government
The risk of being separated is safer than being dead in their homeland. Probably would feel selfish and guilty if they left the kids behind.
These people need prayer and keep an eye on their children’s kidneys
I’ve hiked this as a tourist and it’s mind blowing how hard the journey is
Tourist..lol
Really heartbreaking see little children all suffering may UNICEF protect children all and save💔🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊
This documentary is surreal....Deserves a GOLD award... CNA documentary did not make it in Darien Gap.... Hope that these people are now in good conditions.....
May God watch over and protect these babies🙏🏾 God bless these people 🙏🏾
Yoh this people really got strength nd guts I love my country south Africa
poor poor people, god bless them all x
cried during the whole thing.... this world is a hard place
Thanks for sharing this documentary….
Heart wrenching😭
These poor people live in a nightmare. The children suffer the most.
I’m sorry you had to go through this. I am so sorry. 😞
THIS IS ABSOLUTELY HORRENDOUS ON ALL HUMAN LEVELS, 😢BEING A MOTHER MYSELF IT GIVES ME CHILLS.
I’m so worried about the girl with 2 kids , May God protect her . 🥺❤️. Is there part 2 of where are they now ?

Glad they found each other 🥲✝️
I wanna try this rout. Hopefully i will be back here again and thank God for making me go through..
Not easy 😭 been there
Are you from Ghana 🇬🇭
I couldn't control my teras looking at thses people struggling expecially those kids. It's very painful for me to see their situations.
So sorry for them❤
Instead of fleeing from problems, imagine how their countries would be if they banded together to make a difference there. Very unfortunate situation.
You can't fight City hall
What an ignorant point of view. You Americans are the reason Latin America is impoverished and decimated.
Great documentary
Como puede ser Adventura con Niños y Bebes !!! Es una locura
I cried when they got lost but when they reunited I cried even more 😢😢I got my baby’s and I felt that shyt really bad
I wish one could live in their own country in peace. The human condition is detrimental for some. Really sucks. Horrible times. God bless these folks and keep them safe. Lord watch over those precious children. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

This is painful 💔💔
The bones in the middle of the trail, the story of the man shot in the skull, the two dead bodies sitting in the tent. This is something nobody should go through. but there’s nobody more deserving of this new found life than this family and every other person who has made the journey or journeys alike
Heartbreaking
I feel for the people trying to get to a better place in life
Let's share this world together 😢
Excellent documentary
I feel terrible for these people. They have to leave their country because life was unbearable there. But the problem is if they all come to the US, the US will become like their country. There are crimes and gangs in NYC as a result of bad migrants and gangs arriving here. The US simply cannot handle the sheer number of arrivals and is overwhelmed with the number of migrants coming here. US citizens are suffering from inflation, unemployment and homelessness already. The US is going downhill. And then this country is also ruined. And then where do people go?
Bleeding ❤ can’t seem to grasp that!!The US taxpayer has ENOUGH to deal with its OWN citizens…85-90% want them sent back ASAP
You are literally Asian. What makes you think you get to decide who comes or not to America when y’all came from somewhere else as well? Get swimming.
We dont need to import more poor people. We have our own people to take care of
What an amazingly brave little boy ❤️
Life is tough everywhere 😢
Omg I’m a mess watching this 😭 that young man lost with the baby.. & he did it. He protected her & got her out. Idk how he did it.
Unless life is so terrible in their country, these people wouldn’t have come on such a risky journey. But people shouldn’t take such a risk to depend on pure luck. This video gave me goose bumps.
I see alot of faith in people who take the chances they take..wow
Suanny herself is so young too :( she’s only 19
She’s a baby too taking care of her babies
This pains me so much!! 💔
My heart breaks for people who live in countries that are so dangerous, they have to go through all of this just to make it here, to America 😭😢
Excellent journalism, this is what Vice used to produce.
It is so sad for these peoples. Wish them have a happy journey in their future.
Such a hard a difficult journey to endure. May God bless all these people, I want to know how is the family doing now ?.
If I would be a writer one day, I would love to write their story, the struggles and everything.
My heart breaks…
Wow....America may not always the best choice but it sure is a great option...hope these family are in good hands.

I know this was posted months ago but how long ago was this documentary recorded ? Only reason i am asking is because the amazing changes i have seen in el Salvador.
