Beautiful vintage Lima locomotive.............👍 This model made by Lima in the early '70s , you can tell that from the box and the metal covers under the boogies , the '80s models have different box and plastic covers under the boogies.......... You have a very nice small layout...................!!!!!!!!!!!
Congratultions to this LIMA loco, which is in good shape and runs quite well. It fits the coaches very well, too. Great video, Erik! All the best, Valentin
Nice vlog with review and try out the BR151👍👍👍On my layout I have the BR151 in. N scale and pulls freight and passenger trains🤗🤗 Full watched and enjoyed🤗🤗
These Lima 151s are underrated. You mentioned it has long bogies. This forced Lima to bridge the distance between the motors outgoing axle and the wheels using bigger sprockets then they'd use on smaller types. The gear reduction is therefore much better compared to other Lima products and produces a decent amount of torque at the wheels. Now this won't turn it into a decent crawler compared to modern day stuff but for it's time it was pretty good. To get the most out of those old Lima's I recommend inspecting the sprockets for any flashing and do the toothpaste run in to smoothen them out plus balancing the rotor. This will seriously reduce the noise level plus make em run more smoothly. If that's done properly a good cleaning of the wheels and pickups a bit of lube here and there and you'll be surprised how well the old pancake performs in a properly geared down bogie like this.
Hi Erik, it looks like you bought another great Loco, I think you will find it will run even better after a service. I also have this Lima 151 and it is a very smooth runner despite having bad traction tires. I was interested in learning the history of the 151 Class you gave and was surprised they only weigh 25 tons. I cannot run mine of my urban line as the 3 axle bogies cause some drag. Yours seems to run fine on your layout and will make a nice addition to your stock. Cheers, Paul.
Hi Paul, yes, it is a good model, especisally since it was not expensive and it was in a lot with three locomotives, so postage for this one locomotive was relatively cheap too. The small weight is probably due to my bad reading or bad pronounciation... I'm sorry. It's 120 tons. The Lima model is however not that heavy. 😃 Yes, mine is even doinf fine on R1-circles (36 cm radius). Maybe the problem with yours is on a circle with an incline? The coupling might then touch the buffers and then the bogies can't turn well enough. Thanks for watching! Have a nice evening! Erik
Hi Paul, I have been running it today again and you are right, it gets some drag in the curves, especially with longer trains. I think it needs larger curves than my radius 1 and 2 curves. But it runs OK with short trains. Greetings 🙋♂️ Erik
@@railway187 Hi Erik, I cannot run my 151 or my Mehano 3 axle Locos on my urban track due to the radius being too tight. The only solution is as you mention changing the curves which is a lot of work. At least its ok on your shorter trains so all is not lost. Cheers, Paul.
Also, any tips on making a layout, i will soon make my own one and i have no idea how to make it. I saw your layout and it looks very cool, so do you have any tips for me?

Hi Valentin, thanks for watching 🙏👍
It looks very nice. I like the pantograph. Looks good pulling the blue vars (and nice backdrop too)
If I would use overhead wires, the pantographs would even look better, but yes, it’s very nice, I like it too. Thanks for watching 🙏👍

Hi Erik,
ah a heavy freight train E-loco. Beautiful painting.
They still in service in Germany as well in Itzehoe.
Cheers, Martin
Hi Martin, still being in service these locomotives must be very well made. The Lima is not bad too. Thanks for watching 🙏👍

woah, 50 euros only? That's quite cheap, isn't it?
I didn't pay that price. It was in a deal with other locomotives. This one was under 20 euros (without shipping costs). Thanks for watching!
