The first time I saw TOP was in Reno Nv, I was a drummer and snuck onto the stage and stood behind David G, and was hooked on his funky style, and been trying to emulate him every since. That was in 1973. Towers music will live forever ♥

I took my dad to see them back in October. I haven’t seen him so happy and excited in so long. He’s been playing their music since I was little so this was a fun experience.

How does David still do this? The man is beyond insane on the drums. Often imitated, never duplicated. And the horns? TOP is my musical journey for my life, and if I must be self-quarantine during Covide-19, this is how to cope!! Thank you all for making amazing music for over 52 years!

And David makes it look so smooth and easy. Watch his style. Top confidence, suave moves without being so dramatic and wild. Unlike some drummers like Cindy Blackman Santana, who look like she's having a seizure while playing. David makes his style look like it's second nature to him. And his intricate beats are unparalleled. Like the world's most intricate timepiece.
He's literally a human rhythm machine.

@@krystalharwood7842 ... I'm not sure your point or why? TOP is about MUSIC! Great music, and music is a universal language. As far as I'm concerned, age, sex, race and nationality isn't an issue, and shouldn''t be made one! Good music is just good music no matter who is making it!
I don't know many bands that at 50 years - are still putting out this level of quality new music. Been following since I first heard Sparkling in the Sand - TOP is sounding as tight and funky as ever - damn this is so good

I've always wished that Emilio sang more. Maybe he doesn't have quite the power of their full-time vocalists, but he sings with soul and conviction, he understands the music from inside, and he doesn't need to get replaced every three or four years.
Baribrotzer I completely agree. He has a great soul voice, better than some of their past singers.I suspect he does’nt sing as much as we would like because of his sax duties.
Emilio is a great singer of soul that is written for him, like this one and Diggin' On James Brown. He is not capable of carrying some of their earlier songs like You're Still a Young Man and Knock Yourself Out. Still would love to hear more of him. Top notch leader of a world class band.

The new record is something wonderful to behold! I discovered it as the stay at home situation started,listen to it and play along to it everyday with joy in my heart! I don't have much experience with the funk genre, hadn't heard of this band before they popped on my discover playlist. Really digging them, though this is only the second song I've heard
They have a ton of great recordings start with the first you'll know what is hip ..back to Oakland is great when Lennie was the singer..I also love Brett Carter get sold out another great album they have been doing this for fifty yrs

Wow great song and this album is great! Worlds most dangerous soul band! My best memory will be in 2013 seeing you at Public Hall in Cleveland in a fund raiser for the Rock N Roll Hall of fame. Standing next to the stage soaking in What is Hip, Down the the Nightclub and Still a young man. My fave songs from my youth. Thanks for decades of great music!
