I saw several tutorial about this song, and you're the best so far. I'll start training now, hopefully one day I'll be able to play it decently. I'll have fun for sure. Thank you!
Thanks for another great lesson Marty! I got my Crybaby the year Stevie Ray died. Always late to the party but you can believe I completely emerged myself in all things blues for some time after that. People were sick of me.
Yep! Not very many effects back in the day! For years, all I used was a big muff, chorus, delay, reverb😅 now I have more effects than I know how to use! 😂 Thanks Marty good lesson 😊 I remember the song haven't played it in years!
This is awesome...just the best Voodoo / Hendrix lesson I've ever seen, you really mastered the vibe.... just discovered your channel and looking forward to more :)
“WHAT MAKES IT SOUNDS GOOD IS YOUR SOUL” - that right there is why you get Hendrix or not, the sounds reach your Soul, it just does that to me… Seriously it does something to me and very few people I know….Rock on!
It's funny! ..he was channeling SRV so much he wrote "voodoo chile" instead of "voodoo child" on the TAB. :) Thanks for your service to mankind. Nicely broken down for those of us who dig finding out how stuff was made.
Oh no you didn't! Outfreakinstanding!!! Jammin with you now!!!! BTW, dig the Carolina shirt. I'm in SC but it's cool to see anything with Carolina on it! Cheers!
I ended up grabbing the EVH Crybaby Wah pedal and so now it's on my board probably for good. Lol ⚠️ Would love to ask you a pedal question if I could Marty? What pedal would you recommend to give that duel guitar Boston sound? Boss PS6? Just for a mono one amp not wet/dry. Instead of running through Pro Tools or a Rockman rig. Is there one pedal that you know of that can produce the sound? Like the lead on We're Ready? Thanks man, sorry to run off topic. Awesome video 🎸
Hard call man really... I always thought the Boston sound was a bit of a notched mid tone. Not so heavy on bass or treble. It appears to have a pretty wide chorus in there too at times. Sometimes I think a notched cry baby opened to the right tone duplicates it well. The lead tone was really heavily overdriven. Perhaps a DS1 in the mix for gain?
@@Ranch5150SkinWalker Thank you, yep I have a DS-1 on my board to kick in high gain in spots, I also run a Boss Super Chorus. Feel like I can get that 80s Boston vibe a bit and ckoser to the Hagar VH at times too with a couple of tweaks. Thanks again. 😁🎸👍🏻
MARTY, try to find rock bands that use 1st inversion open and barre chords and 2nd inversion open and barre chords. Most Rock bands mostly use root position open chords and barre chords but i would like to know which rock songs use 1st inversion and 2nd inversion chords. STP guitarist uses a lot of jazz chords because his bother the bassist Robert Deleo songwriters most of the STP songs so the chords are not normal root position chords. Hendrix was using 1st inversion chords but not sure if he used 2nd inversion chords.
Great lesson man, this is one of the best tunes of all time. Have you ever tried a Morley Wah? I grew up on Crybaby but I tried a Morley and can’t go back.
Thanks man! Yeh dude, Morley wahs are awesome!! The only Dunlop crybaby I like is the original 535Q from the mid to late 90's. Other Q's were ok but not up to par for me. I really love the EHX I have.
@@TylerJohnstonGuitar it's really light weight man. I had a red slash Dunlop crybaby that was so heavy. I didn't really like the tone of it as well. I shed a tear when I toasted my original 535Q around 2005
Yes Stevie ray. I was forced to take my girlfriend to see the moody blues in 1983. Show was at Buffalo memorial auditorium. Wasn't happy. Show started and Stevie walked out on stage.he wasn't on the ticket. One of the greatest shows ever
Man, that was an amazing stroke of luck on your part! And very fortunate. I lucked out and got to see Stevie Ray Vaughan at Cornell University when I was 15. It was the tour right after couldn't stand the weather. What a life-changing moment, and really kind of by chance.
dude! i really like your videos. but i'm almost positive that you're Ben Ellers dad. Wich makes it awkward 'cuz Ben's my uncle. Wich makes you my... stepdad! XD
Fantastic! There are a lifetime of lessons in this video, can’t wait to try out some of these variations!

Thanks dude. Crybaby/wah is such an essential part of my rig too. It love the cocked waj lead sound!

Sheesh now I need a wah 😊
Gotcha one! 😄🎵🤟🏻
Just spent some time learning all right now by free....
Nice
Thanks so much man!

Chile
I already know how to play it. I mastered it 32 years ago and yes there SRV version is better.

Hahahaha!!! That's hilarious. 😂😂😂
Pretty good, but…….not quite right….listen to the original version again. Not trying to troll, but what your playing isn’t what Hendrix did.
It’s Voodoo Chile and you are nowhere near close ffs 🤦♂️
