      You're not super late if you like this 'bluesy' Paul. Paul was pretty much a different speed rock/metal guitarist from the 80s until early 2010s? He was THE ALTERNATE PICKING guy that inspired countless guitarist to pick fast on the guitar. His sound has changed a lot in the last 7 years or so and has leaned heavily towards blues and jazz. For me, I still prefer the old PG pre-2010 but I am very happy he is still able to grow as a musician as he ages :)

    One of the things about Page was also how far back he picked with his picking hand....almost close to the bridge. This can be heard very distinctly in Ramble on with the intro acoustic section.
    You look at his live footage and you will see how far back he is picking the string. I think this adds to his already high treble tone and gives it that "honk" or "jangle"

    • @RafaelMesBal

      @nathanbrisebois8756 2 года назад

      A good point. pickups, wether it's what kind you have, which one you are using, and where you are physically strumming all play a huge role. My breakthrough example of understanding this which translated to my skill as a whole was learning Djent-y prog metal and not being able to get that proper tone until I started strumming real close to the neck pickup.

    • @robotgoose225
      @robotgoose225 2 года назад

      Yeah that picking hand is Page's weapon. A little faster than his fret hand, makes his stuff difficult to pick out. And interesting point about the picking position... I had never appreciated that. And that is an interesting position, not for me, all the weir's around the neck pickup on my guitars 🤷‍♂️

    You really have to give Paul and every other guitarist killing it on YT the credit they deserve...most have lost a career or taken a huge cut in income, no gigs, concerts, jams. I cant even buy guitar strings in my province (Ontario) because it's nonessential.
    But turn on yt and here they all are keeping our community strong. Inspiring us all to keep playing.

    Maybe this is why it always sounds better when you start living with the music and showing off on stage. Full body effort, just like gym workout, it's a chain of connections that work together.
