I just want to point out that Joe's manual out of the wallride was low key nuts. Shifting your weight and manualing out of a transition like that is super awkward. 10/10
The next episode of Thumb Bucket is the FINAL SECTION of trail before we have it all linked up! I’m hoping for a minute and a half of downhill from top to bottom.
As soon as you started building the bridge I was thinking it should be slightly banked like a berm because of the speed you're carrying, you sliding out confirmed it 😂. Absolutely awesome Seth love your videos man.
Me during building phase: "flat bridge on relatively high speed corner doesn't sound good. That is asking to have slide out" Me after the first test runs: "looks like it has surprisingly good grip, maybe they are fine" Me after Seth testing: "yeah... Well one day he will learn :D"
My thoughts as well! I was expecting a crash on the first run, but was a bit wrong. Can be fixed with chicken wire or groove channels in the wood for extra traction.
One of my favorite parts about this channel is being able to watch it evolve from, berm creek with just a few trails to basically a full operation building all these amazing trails, and we can’t forget about berm park. So much amazing stuff, and I just love it!
Hi Setth. Short question. So from a nearly vertical wall ride, it transitions into a completly flat bridge. Why wouldn't the bridge have at least a little bit of angle? It would still be 'easy' but be a lot safer. Probably you wouldn't crash if it was angled. Anyways. What do I know.... Great video and great work!
@@SethsBikeHacks I would consider putting small grooves in the surface of the wood to give yourself more leeway for hard shreds. Love the vids keep it up 👍🏼
I love your respectful approach towards the surrounding nature throughout the whole project. While this has always been apparent for all these years, this video really shows that mindset.
As I watched the bridge being built, I knew someone was going to slip on it eventually. Happened sooner than I thought, and didn't look fun! I think you need a bit more of a bank for that curve, else it'll probably keep happening.
Seth, i must say the drone shots of the trail are some of the coolest in the videos in my opinion. Really like seeing everything from above as it gives a good representation of what there is, and the size of your property.
Hey Seth and Co. Could you guys have kevin talk about what he has learned when it comes to trail building? Maybe some techniques for using hand tools? I've learned a bit about using my Rogue Hoe tools properly/more efficiently but there is definitely more to learn.
That last whip out was nuts from the incoming angle. Thought you snapped your head right into a ditch or hole. Nice new feature, loving the rock ramp leading over the stumps.
Kevin is a beast with building. Hope he puts out some more videos on his channel. Such awesome features and a great video. Mad respect for all the crazy sends on a nearly flat bridge. Keep on killing it guys🤘🏻
As soon as I saw the finished bridge I knew there was going to be a slip out. Need some more camber on that thing. Maybe build a lip on the outside edge?
I cannot wait for the next episode. Moving the dirt placing stones and sawing wood. Watching it all get out together is so damn satisfying!! You should create a flow section through the woods 🤙🏻🔥 you guys are doing a great job!
Seth, let me start off by saying how awesome it is that you have a property that you can even consider establishing trails/features on. Love seeing you putting in the work and literally getting beat up to get it just right. Loving the Berm Peak Build Projects! Keep up the great work! Derek
Love how Seth pushes his own limits and shows legit crashes in the vids. Man has courage! An inspiration for us middle age dad bod riders. I see why his channel is so successful. Thanks! R
How do you have so much confidence on the wood? I always feel like there’s going to be no traction on it, especially if it’s wet… does anyone ever put grip tape on wood features?…. Edit; So after watching for a little while it looks as if there’s not so much traction on the wood 🤣
Not a trail builder but I've ridden wood features in the PNW that are covered with chicken wire (stapled/nailed to the wood planks) to improve slick conditions, rain, wet mud etc..
just finished my first semester of college. I have been watching you since 8th grade. Crazy to see a dude with bikes in his outdoor closet in florida building full on trails in my home state. keep it up! i’ll always be a fan even when i’m not riding my bike all that much
That bridge seems like it's going to be slick as hell once it rains a couple of times. If muddy tires is all it takes to slip like that, I can't imagine what a tiny bit of rain and moss build up might do.
You should add 4” to the outside of the bridge to make it a shallow berm and assist in making the turn. Just bolt on 4x4’s to the existing posts and raise the framing. Should help a lot when wet too.
People will be kicking themselves in few weeks if they miss the opportunity to buy and invest in bitcoin while Edward Morris is till there for them to start investing.
Love that your builds don't look like Nasa designed them! Bridge needs more bank, so just unscrew the outer band, loosen the screws on the inner band, and sister along side the out band with a higher band and screw it back down. Or add chicken wire, but that stuff is like a cheese grater and I hate it! Great video!! Kevin is a dirt moving beast!
Love u Seth ur legendary!!! Lol the sound when u hit the floor! Reminds me of myself don't care if u and old friend told me if u dont grow up by time ur 40 then u do t have too!
Hey Seth, what about making a small berm on the bridge out of the little pieces of scrap wood you have left? Just angle em up at like a 50-60 degree angle along the riders right of the bridge. You would be able to get your tires in there and use it as a rut to complete that sketchy turn on the bridge at higher speeds.
Nice safe feature. I think at any time Thumb Bucket could bite back no matter where you are. At some points in the video the music reminds me of The Stone Roses - Fools Gold. Thanks for the video Seth.
Been waiting sooo long for the next build but was well worth it trail is looking sick if me and the fam ever get to the states would love to ride your trails big respect from England
Don’t say that. Not long ago I saw a jump line at my local bike park and thought to my self “I’ll never be able to do that”. But now I can do the whole thing. You just have to keep progressing and riding. One day I bet you could do these features.
Just an idea… maybe if you made a wall/bank of 30 degree angle or something towards the right side of the bridge where you turn to bank yourself a bit so your bike would be able to sit more perpendicular to the bridge surface decreasing the risk of sliding out. It could sit far to the right so it is optional but can be used to carry speed more safely. Could be a simple solution but it is just an idea. Great video Seth 🤟
To potentially make the safety bridge more safe you could make a short “railing” on the outer edge that you could use as a mini berm that might help carry speed with muddy tires on the wood. I don’t know if it would work but it’s an idea
Hey Seth, You should do a series of Q&A to do with mountain biking questions and get people to put the questions in the comments and you answer them (like GMBN Tech)
Some grip tape or just some cut channels in the wood would help with the grip on the bridge a lot. We've seen Seth do this before so maybe he already considered this and vetoed it. None the less, I love the build and sessioning videos!!

What about Kevin's no footer off the wallride D:
TBF it looked like an attempted crank flip.
But it looked SO GOOOOD!
WELL YEAH!!! ESPECIALLY HIS STOPPIE ACROSS THE BRIDGE
I was going to say something about that!! Very technical skill
Yeah, that was super impressive. I stopped and rewatched that clip three times. I'm glad you commented on it!
I love how a bridge to collect your thoughts and calm down has a gap jump entry. LOL.
It's a pretty small gap jump considering the rest of the trail
The jump isnt the problems it's a sharp turn for the speed on wood. Imagine in the wet🤮
@@somerandomguywastaken can't say I didn't expect that crash at the end.
@@matts882 looked like a broken neck waiting to happen

It was mostly a consequence of poor planning, but once the trail dries out and hardens mud shouldn’t be an issue
I think an inward bank could be easily added by installing shims under the outside end of the oak planks.

That bridge seems like it's going to be slick as hell once it rains a couple of times. If muddy tires is all it takes to slip like that, I can't imagine what a tiny bit of rain and moss build up might do.
