England fan. This is an exceptional signing for USMNT. What really sets Poch apart during his time in England is that he is outstanding at developing young players - Harry Kane, Son, Walker, Trippier, Gallagher, Palmer, Colwill, JWP, Luke Shaw. A national team manager role is perfect for him.

19:58 I don’t necessarily disagree with this but it can’t just be a blanket rule that if you’re not playing for your club you can’t get PT for the national team. Cause when Pulisic was struggling with Chelsea, no rational person would’ve called for him to be benched. Certain players should get the benefit of the doubt.

Poch is a huge improvement for the US and US fans should be a lot more positive about 2026. I think he can get them to the knockout stages. He does like playing from the back so might need to rethink how he wants this team to play as he doesn’t have defenders who will be comfortable receiving the ball in tight situations. Teams will be all over them. There are definitely elements if his style of play that can work at international level.

Actually the USMNT might be the best Career Spotlight on Mauricio's Profile Resume/CV.
If he does very well, his stock will rise x 10 times higher. the US Media Market is powerful.
So, like Meola said (..I think, or maybe it was Herk) it's a safe bet for him.
Either he succeeds the same he would with another National team but the rewards will be far higher, or if his fails with the USMNT (which I think is very unlikely) his Stock will still be good in Europe Club Soccer.
It's not a gamble for him, and he sacrificed nothing.
The British Soccer Fan is very demanding and they can destroy you there if you don't win the Eure.
In the US he will be closer to home in Argentina, and will have the chance like Emma Hayes to do something Great. He will be allowed to coach the USMNT Olympic team, lots of Federations do that.
He has 2 years to work on FIFA World Cup
Four years to work on Summer Olympics 2028
It's a sweet deal for both the USMNT and Mauricio.
We have some great players, but they need guidance like what happened on the Women's side with Emma. It's mostly the same USWNT Roster that failed in the World Cup but won the Gold in the Olympics, the difference is the Coach.

    • @kenw7287
      @kenw7287 2 месяца назад

Pochettino will be compensated by Nike, Coke-Cola, Volkswagen and every other sponsor out there. The only question is if he will be okay with being the face of US Soccer for the next 2 years.
Casual US sports fans will only care if the USMNT makes a deep run in 2026 (at least round of 8 or better). Anything else will just be matching Arena in 2002 and Pochettino will be seen as being an overpaid disappointment.
National team jobs are considered second tier/grade in the global football scene. The USMNT job is not considered particularly prestigious even compared to say Brazil or Germany. Mediocre performance from the USMNT can lower Pochettino's coaching stock even lower than the last 2 years..

  • @jasonglasser1621

I'm wondering if the Boehly situation was part of the reason Poch accepted the job. Maybe he figured managing Boehly's home country would put enough public pressure on him to actually pay out his commitments? Gives him a bit more leverage if nothing else

Former USMNT Players (the very good ones) understands that the Men's National Team Program need Expertise to be able to complete with the great Soccer Nations.
You can win 1 game with Parking the Bus in front of goal, but to win an Olympic Medal or Copa America or the World Cup, you need to also make the opponent doubt in front of their goal.
It doesn't matter if you defend or press high as a Soccer game plan philosophy as long as you're able to do both, be SOLID in the defense and a Beast in the Offense.
The USWNT were a Beast on the Offense (12 goals) and a Solid defense (2 goals), while everyone predicts that that was only about 65% of their real potential under Emma Hayes.
By the way you don't see her doing the media round celebrating, because she's already working on preparing the team for World Cup 2027.
The USMNT Program as a whole, players and fans, need to mirror a lot of what the women do on this side. Which is they win and the forget quickly that they won so that they build more hunger to win again.
The USMNT as a whole, need to be hunger for at least 25 years, and one of the following titles will come home; Olympic Gold Medal, Copa America, FIFA World Cup, in that exact order. But if you can get one of them in the wrong order GO FOR IT!
The Gold Cup needs to be left for the U23 or create your own Category lets say U25.
    Get Real
    Get very Ambitious
    And apologize to no one.
    Try!

I think you are a bit too hyped with Pellegrino. He is a fine manager, but I hear people talking about the world cup final. You know how hard it is? You are not competing with México and Canada. You must face, and eliminate, France, Argentina, Spain , England, etc. Defeat each of these teams every 5 or 6 days. And USA doesn't defeat a big one since Germany in 2015.
A good coach is vital, but it won't change the structural limitations.

    Jimmy is correct.
    2) The players “need to hear a different voice” is a nice way to say “some players need to not be called in a window are two and then we can see if they can reach a level where they deserve to be called back in.
    3) Two years is enough time to get a team up to speed, especially if you are not a moron who thinks that the system is more important than the player pool.

Sometimes is not a matter of names. It's a matter or club philosophy. In Europe patience is not something the clubs provide but most if not all managers need. In all the clubs you mentioned he left within a season or just a little more, with the exception of Tottenham. Tottenham came from a nothing club to one of the top 5 in England during his time. What happened to Tottenham with those top players you mentioned after he left? I for one am hopeful for this. If given the time Pochettino could build a top team for 2026.
