Metal is a huge umbrella of a category, not everyone's gonna like the same style. Black Sabbath is one of the best bands IMO but ya can still be a metalhead and not be big on sabbath
@@derekperkins57 true, but black sabbath was basically the first metal band and pretty much invented plenty of different types of metal music in general. Black Sabbath (the song), Killing Yourself To Live (Sabbath Bloody Sabbath), and Computer God (DeHumanizer) are good examples of doom metal. Symptom Of The Universe (Sabotage) has a main riff very similar to thrash metal. Fairies Wear Boots, Sweet Leaf (Master Of Reality), and Supernaut (4th Album) are also great examples of stoner metal. In other words, it's quite difficult for a heavy metal fan not to like at least 1 Black Sabbath song. I have been a sabbath fan since over forty years and still haven't been disappointed. You need to see what they do live. Just bloody fantastic to this day
Musical perfection. The S.O.S. type riff at the end to me is a cry of help that has rung throughout the LP. The backdrop of the Vietnam Conflict, the hard drugs and their toll at the end of the Sixties, the civil rights protests, the war mongering politicians. In my mind Paranoid is one of the best albums to capture an epoch.
The track is about the band being attacked by a gang of skinheads on the way home from a party. The drug reference at the end was a parody because the band enjoyed soft recreational drugs as did every rock band in those days.
Ozzy Ozbourne was a visionary for sure. The man was brilliant with lyrics that not only inspired but also intrigued his listeners to indulge further. A brilliant man to this day.
My 13 year old daughter yelled this at a DARE function. It was hard to discipline her and keep a straight face. How do you discipline the YOU outta your kid? 😂

Grew up listening to Sabbath in the 70s & never heard this one til today. The music is epic just like everything they do but the lyrics just tickled me.
As I was listening to this “blast from the past” it came to my attention that this song may be considered non-pc with all its talk about fairies and dwarves. Made me like it even more. Rock on my little chickadees.

I'm a grandma and I have been privileged to see BS 3 times . Althought I never seen Randy Roads. I've seen Ozzy 6 times. He threw water on me and my husband . Zakk threw a guitar pic . The Drummer threw two drum sticks and my husband caught them. We were in the 3 row. After the concert my ex almost got rolled . Luckley we got away with the memorabilia. Then seen Ozzy , Vixin and Uglykid joe on the 4th of July . We took our 10 yr old son. Best band ever.
Ozzy was seen as a bit odd dragging a plimsoll around the streets of Birmingham as a teenager good job it's often the case that oddest creates such greatness
I saw a fairy with boots on and you got to believe me.So true because I have to.😀 Seriously I really did and no tripping either 😀👍.One it their best songs ever.
actually, listening now to the lyrics, it's simple as all hell. I'm 63, so this was from back in my teenage years. I grew up on rock and roll from the 60s and 70s, but now, a lot of what I used to think was so damn deep just seems kind of goofy. Good music though.
Really the heaviest song of all......not much radio play. But that was really great tripping music! Microdot anybody? Blotter? Paranoid,Hair of the Dog,Machinehead.Dark side of the moon. 4 albums you just had to have. 70’s thru the 80’s.....and beyond!
I remember this song was always playing while we were smoking and tripping in our early 20' s with the boys ....and hearing that in the song always tripped me out 😝😂😱😏
I first heard this song the summer of 1994 when some kid at summer camp had the CD. Maybe a few months later I found it at a record store and it blew me away, giving me nightmares for a long time, months I would wake up in the middle of the night terrorized by this music. I *LOVED* it, every song on it, but IMHO the most terrifying were Electric Funeral and this. Still moves me to this day, very powerful tune, huge bass line and haunting lyrics. If I were the devil head on with Sabbath playing this tune I would surrender and turn hell over to them, I saw it with my own two eyes!

It's True!
OH YES I DO. Genius and one of a kind. In a class all its own. That's how genius this song is. I agree with you 110 percent. My favorite Sabbath song.
I do.
Sabbath is just the greatest band I ever heard in my entire life! Point blank.
The long intro is timed perfectly and their style shines on it completely.
Same !!!
that's why i bought every single album.. and copies of them so no one even is allowed to breath on those.
Number 3 in my list of classic rock bands. Great band!
BLACK SABBATH & JUDAS PRIEST, MY TWO FAVORITES OF ALL TIME ..............................
The bass line is incredible
The era's best rock bassist, along with Zep's JPJ.
It's geezer dude. The best of the best
I think geezer is the best bass player of all time
How can anyone not love this song?
Several ppl did 👎🏽 this song... Maybe they have some moral issue with fairies & dwarves dancing together 🙃

All hail the mighty Geezer! His bass lines glue all this together, perfectly matched to Tony's guitar and Bill's drums at the same time.
Don't forget he also wrote all their tracks.
@@TheVidkid67 the lyrics, that is.

Geezer Butler wrote all Sabbath lyrics. Ozzy was just a mere vocalist singing someone else's lyrics.
