I disagree about putting your bike in as far as you can. I have a Smart Car which is the smallest car sold in the US. I always stop with my back end (would be your front end if you are backing in) to the very end of the lines even with all the other cars rear ends. If you are In all the way and if there are cars on both sides of you, and someone looks, they will see what looks like a large open space Before they get in enough to see you have a bike (or my tiny car) in the spot. They will be more likely to hit your bike or my car. If Even with the other cars and the ends of the lines, they will easily see your bike or my car is occupying the spot.
I definitely can see your perspective, but I've experience first hand what can happen when you park in front, as I've had a bike totaled when it was hit in a parking spot. My thought process is the longer you give a careless driver zooming into a space to react by parking further back, the better. Also, it's easier for cars backing out of spots to not see your bike and hit it when you've got it right up front (thank goodness for the back-up camera 🤓) To each their own, though. Take care, and thanks for watching! ✌🏽
I agree that parking as far back is your best option. I parked my motorcycle very far forward so others that were parking could see my bike. Unfortunately the guy that was parked next to me didn't see my bike when he was pulling out and hit my bike which knocked it over which then made my bike fall on the bike that was parked in the spot with me. If we parked further back, that would never have happened
I've always heard you should park your bike toward the front of the spot so cars can see it. Parking it toward the back makes it invisible to cars thinking about pulling in.
Having had my bike hit while it was parked forward in the spot, to me it seems safer towards the back. Towards the back will give it a better chance for someone in a larger car or truck from backing out of another spot and not seeing the bike in their rear view.
That's one of the pros of parking forward, but it also makes it easier for cars backing out of spots to hit your bike when they don't see it. Of course, there are pros and cons to both, but IMO there are more pros to parking back in the spot, as opposed to forward. Appreciate you watching and commenting! 🤓✌🏽
I don't think it's legal to do, and don't do it myself, but if there's an area that's away from foot traffic, tucked and out of the way, I won't complain. Parking lots are tight in the area, so sometimes for peace of mind it seems reasonable for the safety of your bike to be out of the lot.
Hmm, not great advice for those of us not riding in Cali. Touching curb in Queensland, Australia is illegal. Further, I would park at front of parking space, not the rear, as we have idiots (also in cars) that would like to share the space and block you in, particularly, if its in premium or more convenient location. Secondly, I wouldn't reverse in to a spot that is on a slope (hill) that would require me to push the bike up-hill. Hmm. Sometimes, I wish there were regional settings in RUclips.
Yet in your video you gave advice that would be illegal in some places and didn't mention that. Hmmm. I tried finding any mention that it is illegal to touch the curb (kerb) in Queensland. The Queensland Motorcycle Riders' Guide does mention park with one wheel as close to the kerb as possible, but I couldn't find any info that one would be breaking the law if a wheel touched.
Hey thank you and good informational video as well i stay in SoCal Los Angeles. And i wanted to know what do you call those type of helmets where it has a tinted screen with also a transparent screen? I can also see the company is SHARK right? If you have a link to it please send it!
I just call it a drop down visor. Lots of helmets have them, and I've always bought helmets with them. My helmet is the Shark Spartan, and you can find it here - www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/shark-spartan-12-helmet-solid
how about parking ticket things when you park in a spot you have to pay ... when you have a car you put the ticket inside the car by the window how does that work with a bike....?
I just put my ticket under the gas cap key cover flap thingy I also take a photo of it just in case it is stolen or something and I have to fight a ticket
a STALKER IN MOTORCYCLE IS STALKING me just few minutes ago , parked behind my home and stalking around harrestme intimidation provocation a he just leave minutes ago

Hey man I live in the Arden area so not far from Davis! Nice video, what’s your thoughts about parking in the front of the store? By the doors?

Ninja 1000!
The end of 2023 and I learned something again
They need to implement a Reverse option on motorcycles it would help a lot.
I don't disagree with that sentiment, and some larger bikes have a reverse assist option.

Excellent Video! In Philadelphia, I see a lot of the same parking situations.
The one bugging me lately is riders parking in car spots when their is designated motorcycle parking. 🙄🤓
Hey man I know this is a really late comment, but thank you so much for the help man. Great explanation
I appreciate the feedback! Ride safe. 👍
Thanks for this video bro
You're welcome. Ride safe! 🤓
Sound advice, thanks.

One more reason I don't live in California ….. No curbs in the Outback.
As if you needed one more reason! ;) :D
Also, nice to see our old friend, the speedo tape, one last time :)
Haha … I know, I know. I LOVE California, the state. I despise the politics.
Just one more video waiting to post, and that's the last of speedo tape! :( Of course, you can always go back and rewatch if you miss it! :P
I despise politics in general, so yeah, I understand completely!
9 minute video for parking? 👎
I got a lot to say. 😆 You did inspire me to add chapters though, so thank you. ✌🏽

Certainly no expert! I will NOT subscribe.
You're right. Just me sharing what works for me, in my state. Thanks for watching. Take care! 👍
